Jeannie looked over the rim of the glass as the Prince ordered the food. Unexpectedly the 'date' had not been as she had imagined. It had been pleasant... other than the kiss of course. That had been distinctly unpleasant.
"Liar." A voice inside her commented. But she suppressed it ruthlessly before she spoke," I find it hard to believe that when you promised a date like a princess, you meant taking me to a place like this."
Christopher looked up from his phone with a rare smile. "Miss Boon, you would not have enjoyed the cruise and the rest. It is why I never planned any of it. And you cannot say you were disappointed by it. You have been smiling for a while now whereas earlier you were always throwing daggers my way. I had to check multiple times if I was bleeding."
"Prince Christopher, I must say, you have done good work here."
And Jeannie truly believed what she said. The man had indeed taken her for the glass boat ride but after that instead of wining and dining her or trying to show off his riches, he had actually taken her to see the new small industries that had been growing over the years in Othon. She had of course heard that he had been a pioneer in the change that had brought the old Othon to this century but seeing it all made her respect him more than any title could.
And there was no way she could say it had not been fun. From debating with the top students in the Othon University to visiting the smaller farms and tasting the wine. It had been almost perfect. And much better than any 'romance' that the Prince could have offered! In fact after escorting her to every place, he had almost made himself scarce, making everything more enjoyable.
She had feared that he would want to talk contracts and all but it seemed that the man had come to his senses. So she could finally enjoy this meal and then be done with this and bid goodbye to the Prince.
"I am glad you enjoyed the day Miss Boon. Though I worry, you might not appreciate my upcoming surprise."
"There is more?" Jeannie widened her eyes. She was curious but she was also tired and did not think she could handle any more surprises. And she even had to fly back so that was going to be a difficult journey.
Thinking of this, she immediately shook her head and said," Prince Christopher. You don't need to do anymore. Considering our past meetings, I had not expected to even enjoy the day so far. Please, I would sincerely request you that I want to leave after this meal. The poor press is also waiting outside and they might also want to get rest. So, I'll just tell them I had a wonderful time and be done with it."
Instead of acknowledging her, he asked instead," You have resolved the matter of your criminal accountant?"
"Of course. Ni Na was being blackmailed by her ex husband. So, I have convinced her to surrender herself. I have also asked all the women who have received help from us to try and donate as much money as possible to fill in the huge gap. Ni Ni has also returned most of the money she stole. So, even though she is going to have a difficult time, her prison sentence will be lighter. So, even though your intentions were bad, thank you for bringing them to my notice. Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to leave after the food is done."
"You are not going anywhere."
"Excuse me?"
"I said, Miss Jeannie Boon, you are not going anywhere. We are going to end the date in my bedroom upstairs."
"What nonsense is this!"
Jeannie pushed back the chair and stood up angrily banging her hands on the table. But soon the world started to sway and her ears started to ring. Trying to maintain control, she pointed at the two princes in front of her," You bas*ard! You sc*m! How dare you spike my drink! I will kill you! If you do anything to me, I will kill you!"
Jeannie did not know whether she really screamed the words of if it was only said in her head for the world had turned dark.
Nodding to the waitress, who stood at the back, Christopher watched her being escorted away to the room, supported by two people.
Looking up, he could not help but sigh, "See the things I've had to do? She's going to hate me.."
