Chapter 1 - Prologue

"How's the evacuation going?"

Five people, four males and one female in suits were seated at a wooden rectangle table in a room. An atmosphere of gloom hung in the room. The one who spoke, at the head of the table, was in his late thirties. He looked frail, with his skinny body frame, white streaks in his hair, and glasses. Additionally, he had slightly red eyes and bags under his eyes, and his voice sounded hoarse.

"Sir. We have managed to evacuate a total of slightly under 7 million. There are currently 206 thousand people that are registered to be living in Hartas that are unaccounted for, that we presume have ignored the warnings and remained in the city. However, due to the approximation of when the meteor will strike the city, we have started to pull the troops back. We have settled the people among the regions of Windia and Windka, with half the number being put in temporary shelter. "

The one who answered was seated to the right. Unlike the first who spoke, he was bulky, sitting ramrod straight with with a crisp voice. As he spoke, he was occasionally glancing down at the papers on the desk in front of him.

"Has anyone managed to find out why our weaponry has had no impact on the asteroid? Or at least got any news about the equipment that has disappeared in it's vicinity?"

"No sir."

The man at the head of the table let out a loud sigh, before rubbing his eyes under the glasses.

"This is not the way I wanted to end my term. Paul, you'll be in charge of coordinating with the governors of Windia and Windka to create programs that will increase jobs and housing. Jen, as always you'll deal with the media. Continue to stress on how alien it is and beyond human comprehension. Is there anything else I need to know?"

"No Sir."

"Okay, dismissed."

The sound boots could be heard as 4 people got up and left. After they had gone, the man at the head of the table, got up and started shuffling slowly to his room, hoping that when he wakes up this would be nothing but a dream.

Sometime later, In the deserted city of Hatas, a faint glow could be seen in the night behind a curtain of 3 storey apartment complex in the pitch black night. There was a man with black hair sitting in a gray fabby fabric recliner chair, in a baggy blue shirt and black shorts watching T.V. He had a remote control in his hand pointed at the T.V., flicking through the channels at a rapid pace. Eventually, sick of seeing nothing but news on the meteorite, he turned the T.V. off. He shook his head while thinking "fake news. An asteroid that changes color, impervious to any weaponry? Give me a break."

The man placed the remote on the round table to his right then grabbed a photo sitting on the table with a picture of a slim women with smooth white skin, red hair and emerald eyes sitting on a blue futon cradling a child with smooth white skin and striking blue eyes holding a rattle in one of his hands, while sitting next them was a 5 year old child with striking blue eyes and a frown on his face. The man, Kevin, let out a sigh before putting the picture down and getting up and moving to the window, peeking through the blinds with his piercing blue eyes to see if there was anyone outside. Afterwards, he decided to do a light workout on the treadmill before taking a shower and going to bed.

However, shortly after falling asleep, he was woken up by a hissing sound. He got up from his bed, rubbing his eyes before looking around trying locate the sound. Failing to find the source, he looked around, puzzled, before his eyes widened in fright. He rushed to the balcony and looked up at the sky.

Up above, he could see what looked like a glittering, red rock covering the entirety of the sky, Oddly enough, it was slowly but noticeable lighten with tinges of blue becoming more noticeable as Kevin watched it, frozen in shock as it steadily approached. Snapping out of his shock, Kevin ran into his bedroom, grabbing the keys before rushing to his car, getting in and speeding down the street, weaving through any cars in the way.

As he exited the city, he looked in the rear-view mirror and could still see the the glittering rock still in the sky a distance away. Heaving a sigh of relief, he slowed down. However, shortly after slowing down, a black oblong slammed into the car. Panicking, Kevin slammed on the accelerator once again, leaving the area.
