Chapter 60 - Chapter 59 – Commotion

Jamie sat in a makeshift Earthen Rock Pen positioned in front of the last carriage in front of the road train, feeding the fawns from two nipple bottles, one in each hand, while a deer with four ears with a black coat, a grey underbelly, and red eyes looked on. Jamie glanced towards the sky, to see the faint silhouettes of flying beats in the horizon. Jamie frowned, and watched as they seemed to progress towards the truck. Eventually, they came close enough for his Mystic Sense to pick up their energy signatures, and it had him frowning, as the energy type combinations seemed familiar.

Amelia, who was filling up her flask with water at one of the water holes, glanced at the sky when she saw Jamie's gaze directed at the horizon. She smiled.

"Finally, they have returned."

Upon hearing that, Jamie's eyes brightened briefly, and he looked downwards, at the fawns he was feeding with a bottle in each hand. After they finished drinking, they started to curl up around Jamie, and close their eyes.

Jamie sat there, rubbing the fawns gently, and turned to look towards his right, where Scott and Eve where play fighting. Eve had Scott on his back, and was nipping lightly at his neck, while Emily watched on.

Jamie watched Eve and Scott play fight for a couple of minutes, then started stretching. As he was stretching, gusts of wind started to form as Ivan, followed by Lennox and Taylor started to land on their beasts, a short distance from the truck. After landing, they jumped off them, then put their hands on their beasts, and they disappeared in a burst of their element color light.

Jamie looked towards the trio of Battlepet Master's, and saw the trio smiling broadly as they approached the truck, and Ivan even started whistling. Amelia, sitting in a foldable chair nearby, remarked.

"Things must have gone well. I don't often catch you whistling Ivan."

"Very well. We managed to attract five moles. Within a week, I believe we can get them to come with us that willingly. For now, we plan to give them some space."

Ivan exaggeratedly moved his head to inspect the two Earthen Rock Pens containing the fawn and the pups.

"It's also nice to see the young creatures alive in your care."

"Ha. Hilarious. By the way, did you intend to get me to look after the young beasts for the duration of the stay here at Gladrock City?"

Ivan rubbed his chin, as Lennox started walking to the wolf cubs in an Earthen Rock Pen positioned two meters before the one containing the fawn, and Taylor approached her Four Ear Deer. "I was thinking about it, yea. It wouldn't be fair to Emily and Jamie if they spent the whole time in the portal looking after the young beasts."

"You know, I could say the same thing about me guarding the truck and looking after young beasts for two weeks."

Ivan smirked. "It's completely fair. Your being specifically paid to do so. In fact, they are helping you and Nicholas relieve some of your duties. You should thank them."

Amelia rolled her eyes. "You know, ever think I might want to explore a little?"

Ivan snorted. "Nothing in this city could catch your attention. The large spike in energies around here caused by the fight between the City Guardian and the Gredidine Warprince hasn't lingered around long enough to cause anything worth your attention to form, and anything worthwhile left behind in the city by the inhabitants would have been looted already."

"You can never be sure."

Taylor reached the Earthen Rock Pen. The Four Ear Deer backed away slightly and lowered her head as Taylor reached out her hand to touch the Four Ear Deer. The Four Ear Deer disappeared in a burst of green and black light, and Taylor turned to her left. Ivan turned to look at Jamie as Taylor walked to the open third carriage of the truck.

"I'm surprised to see you back so early. You didn't want to spend more time exploring?"

Jamie shook his head. "It's not that. People tried to rob us when we were exploring, so we had to bring them to the Military Outpost."

Ivan's eyes widened. "Someone tried to give you trouble with Nicholas accompanying you?"

"Yes. But that was because Nicholas hid."

Ivan sighed, glancing around the area."Of course. I should have guessed he would do something like that. Let me guess, he wanted to see how you two would handle yourselves in a fight?"

"Yes."

"Where is he now?"

"He hasn't returned since he left for the Military Outpost."

Ivan rubbed his forehead."I will speak to him later. Did you at least find anything worthwhile?"

Jamie smiled. "I found four vials of unknown liquid, and Emily found some Fire Rubies and a Fire Evolution Stone."

Ivan's eyes widened and Amelia turned to look at Jamie staring for a second with wide eyes. She then turned to glare at Ivan and gestured to Jamie.

"Nothing in this city could catch your attention, huh?"

Ivan scratched his cheek. "I can rotate you and Nicholas, to give you both time to explore."

"That would be appreciated."

Ivan turned to look at Jamie.

"Anything that can survive the backlash of the fight between the Powerhouses would have to be well protected, and thus, valuable. Do you mind if we take a look?"

"Sure."

Jamie slowly, carefully moved away from the Yellow Scale Deer fawn, that had their eyes closed, and moved towards the truck. He passed Taylor as she hopped out of the carriage with a soda can in her hands, and grabbed his black bag out of the cage by the seats, taking out the green container and putting his bag back in the cage.

As he turned around and hopped down from the trailer, Amelia's eyes lit up as she stared at the green container. Amelia got up from her seat and appeared next to Ivan, as Jamie approached Ivan who was watching him approach and handed him the container. Ivan undid the latch, and opened the container. Amelia reached out her hand and snatched a vial, opening it shortly afterwards.

A burst of Energy spiked into the air, along with the feeling of something primal, of something encompassing everything. Amelia and Ivan's eyes widened, and Amelia swiftly closed the vial, putting it in the container, and looking around.

Seeing a couple of eyes of people in the surroundings that were standing next to their vehicles in the spacious area start looking in their direction, the rocks forming the Earthen Rock Pen's of the fawn and cubs started rising. Lennox hastily jumped out of the wolf cub pen, as Ivan swiftly put the latch back on the container as a burst of silver light with white speck with grey light appeared. A wolf with silver fur with with grey specks and a white underbelly appeared, accompanied by a gust of wind and a simmer of light as everyone briefly looking in that direction could see nothing but a silver haze.

As the silver haze cleared, Illusive Wolf could be seen next to Ivan, but Ivan's hands looked empty. Shortly afterwards, the rocks forming the Earthen Rock Pen's met each other in the middle, forming a perfect overlap. A brown glow started to coat the rocks, as a large spike of glacial energy could be felt emulating from Amelia, and a wave of frost erupted at her feet, with her at the center, freezing the ground in a two mile radius. The people glancing in their direction, attracted by the burst of energy from the vials, looked away hastily, as Amelia glanced around the surroundings.

Lennox came walking over from the wolf cub Earthen Rock Pen, behind Ivan. "What caused that spike of energy?"

"Nothing."

"uh huh. Nothing. That spike of energy didn't come from nowhere."

Amelia's hands briefly passed by Ivan's, and she started walking towards the last carriage of the truck. Ivan turned around to look at Lennox, pointing at Amelia.

"The Ice type energy came from Amelia."

"I mean the other energy."

"What other energy?"

"The energy from the source you are having your Illusive Wolf hide."

Ivan held out his hands. "I have no idea what your talking about. Umbriel wanted to get some fresh air."

Lennox glared at Ivan holding the his gaze for a few seconds, then stormed away. Taylor stared at Ivan, and seeing him looking blankly back, started walking away as well. Ivan stood there for a few seconds, then looked at Jamie and projected a thought into his head.

"Who else knows about this?"

Jamie tapped into his Astral Energy, and sent a thought back to Ivan.

"Emily, Eve, Scott. I think Nicholas would as well, I'm not sure."

"I will speak to Nicholas and Emily. Keep this a secret you have this, and don't share it with anyone, unless you are sure you can trust them. Amelia will put it back in your bag for you."

"DO NOT use it until you have it appraised. And keep in mind, whatever this is, it's extremely potent. Even if this is beneficial to you, it would most certainly kill you if you ingest it right now."
