Jamie froze after hearing the voice in his head, before glancing at his bloodied hand, with the paw still on it, then speaking out loud "This...Astral contract?"
The voice echoed in his head again, replying."Correct. And now that we are bonded, we need to have some changes. First, my name is Eve, not Bell. I rattled the bell around you in the past to wake you up, not because it was my name. Second, I want meat from now on, and not that canned food."
"Wait wait wait.....your just a stage 1 dog. Your not supposed to be this intelligent."
To that, the black pup gave a disdainful sniff, before the voice echoed in Jamie's head again. "I am an Evernight Wolf, not a dog."
With that, a thin gold barrier formed around the bleeding paw and hand, healing them at a visible pace and dispersed the blood. After the hand and paw finished healing, the barrier dispersed, and the wolf pup turned around and walked towards the wooden table in the center of the kitchen, before leaping on it. As it walked, a thin blue barrier formed around the injured paw, healing it, and dispersing the blood.
Jamie took a deep breath, got the knife under the fridge, before washing it before placing it on the chopping board. He then defrosted the steak, put it on a plate, and placed it in front of the pup on the table. He then finished making his sandwich then took a seat at the table.
They sat in silence at the table, with Jamie trying to process what just happened and what he thought about it, and Eve was tearing into the steak and gulping it down. Finally, Jamie ended up asking "So, why did you form a contract with me, and why didn't you ask?"
Eve continued to gulp down a piece of the steak, while a voice echoed in his head "You thought of me as a domesticated pet, with no fighting ability and I can't speak to you without a contract. Your soul purity meets my needs, and we have grown up together."
Eve finished gulping down the stake, before starting to lick her paws, while asking "Are you mad?"
"I was initially...but after thinking about it, I can live with it. I was planing to buy and contract the Triple Eye Viper, but I can't. My Astral Body size doesn't meet the requirements."
Eve gave a disdainful huff. "That overgrown worm you keep looking at when in Battlepets Galore?"
"It looks awesome. And it's at stage 3"
"Besides biting, it has one ability, and it's not very agile."
Jamie paused at that, then asked "what can you do?"
"I can coat my paw with energy and heal wounds, move things with my mind, and briefly increase my speed."
The wolf then lifted up her head proudly "Good, isn't it. Much better then the worm."
Jamie smirked at that. "The worm can still crush you with ease."
Eve rolled her eyes. "For now."
Jamie's smirk grew bigger. "How long has it been since you've been like that? It's been 10 years since you have been at stage one. Will you even grow stronger?"
Eve growled in response.
Jamie finished up eating, washing the plates before heading upstairs to his room, with Eve following behind him. Entering the room, the window can be seen straight ahead position in the middle of the room, with white curtains. The queen sized bed had it's back against the window, with a night stand to the right side of the bed with it's height just beneath the bottom of the window frame. To the right up against the wall, there was a wardrobe, with a clutter of things such as a basketball piled up next to it. Jamie placed his bag among the clutter after he entered. To the left, there was a large wooden desk, with an assortment of books piled up on the shelves, along with a laptop sitting on the desk with a nightlight, with a blue rolling chair tucked into the desk. In the middle of the room, forming a stark contrast to the wooden, glistening floor, was a black mat, identical to the one used in the evaluation.
After putting his bag to the side of the wardrobe, he went to his desk and booted up his laptop sitting at the desk, with Eve jumping into his lap, looking at the screen, while occasionally being scratched by Jamie behind the ears. Jamie first checked his new feeds where he came across some interesting news in his news feed.
Apparently, This city, Brouis, was hosting a Battlepet tournament for people under the age of 20 in six months time, with the winner being eligible to win a voucher that could be redeemed at the government for some battlepet evolution and strengthening materials of the users choice. "Too bad I don't I don't even qualify as a Trainee" Jamie thought wryly.
After checking through the news, which included updates of the exploration of the portal in Hastrood Garden, he then checked the Tamernet, entering the login that was given to him by the officer, Sarah, at the evaluation. After browsing through a couple of videos of Beatamers talking about their life experiences, Eve started to get restless.
"What's this? Where's the beast fights?"
"I am gong to look at some videos on Beastmasters. And I want to know more about evolving creatures."
"Boring." With that, Eve left his lap while Jamie looked up what Beastmasters had to go through in their day to day life. This doesn't seem so bad Jamie thought to himself. Some of these stores are quite active in sending tamers to enter the portals to capture some baby beasts. I can apply for these later, when my Trainee ID arrives by the mail.
While on the internet, Jamie decided to look up information regarding about Evernight Wolves, but found nothing. Jamie tapped into his soul, communicating through the link their contract had formed. "Hey Eve, how do you know your species name. I can't find anything online."
"I don't know how. The name has always been in my memories."
"Weird. This might be a problem though. You have been stuck at that size and stage for 10 years. You have to evolve to continue to increase your stage."
"How have Beastamers worked out how things have evolved from scratch?"
"Hmmm...let me search."
With that, Jamie looked up on the Trainernet the methods used. After browsing through some of articles, he transmitted back "Apparently, some creatures have an instinctive attraction to items that can help them evolve or grow stronger. They narrowed down the types of items needed by looking at the creature in question, the elements it can harness and it's desired food. The evolution materials can be elemental stones, an intact carcass of a certain type of creature, and various types of vegetation. There's something we can try."
With that, Jamie got up, heading towards his bag and opening a zipper. He grabbed the red container he got from James that day and said out loud. "Eve, I have some things here that might help. Let me know if you have any reaction to them."
With that, Jamie opened the red container. Immediately after the lid left the container, Eve got up swiftly, staring at the box in Jaime's hands with her ears standing up. Some saliva started leaking from the sides. "I want what's in that container."
With that, Jamie grinned. "Looks like we have something to help you evolve. But you can't have it."
"Why not?"
"Because my al Body size is at stage 1. A single pet evolving and reaching stage 2 will stretch my Astral Body. It won't kill me since the contract is already formed, but if another contracted pet evolves to stage 2 or you reach stage 3, I will die. My Astral Body can't handle that pressure."
Eve started growling, then swiped at the pillow on the bed in frustration. After calming down, she transmitted "So why try to find a way to help me evolve?"
"I plan to ask my brother to help me find a stage 1 creature that I can contract that will increase my Astral Body size after it increases stages. If that doesn't work, you just have to wait until my Astral Body size finally increases."
"So call him now."
"No need. He will be here tomorrow."
Eve just stared at Jamie, almost frothing at the mouth. "So he will be here tomorrow, magically knowing about your problem, and bringing the solution with him? CALL HIM!"
"Fine."
With that, Jamie tried to call his brother, Michael, on his phone, but didn't get through. "Probably exploring a portal right now." Jamie thought, mentally shrugging then informing Eve, who left the room in a huff. Shrugging, he started studying for his final exams taking place in the next two weeks for three hours, before getting bored and playing a mobile game to relax, then taking a shower. After which, he went to bed, anticipating meeting with his brother the next day.
