Chapter 38 - Chapter 33- The Competition

A few days later...

Alexia's POV

Today was the day of the competition for the school ranks. I walked to Karto's room and spoke loud enough to wake him, "Hey are you ready to kick some ass!!"

Karto sat up and stretched, "No. But you should bring yours over here."

Just as he spoke he grabbed me by the waist and sat me in his lap. He then went on to tickling me. My laughter filled the room. Yesterday Abril had gone home with her parents for she wasn't mentally stable for an unknown reason. So Karto and I had the house to ourselves.

The tickling ceased and was followed my Karto gently nibbling at my neck. My wolf called for him, and Karto growled softly as I tried to pull away.

"Karto we have to get ready for school."

"Fine I'll meet you downstairs." He sighed and he pecked my cheek. We stood up and split up to get ready.

Karto's POV

Since I found that apple Abril has been a little distant. I feel that she has accepted that she isn't going to be my mate. Which pains me to say, but she is still involuntarily attracted to me. I hate that she can't be herself when it comes to her feelings. But I plan on fixing that.

Alexia and I walked to school together and the entire school was teeming with excitement. The competition was going to take up the entire day. The first rank was the lowest rank and the highest was last. Which meant that I would be one of the last.

The top 5 of each rank will have one chosen by the new Alpha to be the highest in their rank. And those who are chosen will get to chose their partner. In other words if a male Omega is chosen he will get the privilege to choose his second as he is the highest ranking Omega amongst the rest.

Alexia and I watched the Omegas spar with each other which took a painstaking 2 hours. They were the largest group. But it also included who wanted to participate which was nice for it cut down two thirds of the group.

The Warriors were next and they were allowed weapons to show skill and agility and there were only a few.

Half of the day was gone and it was lunchtime. I told Alexia that I wasn't going to eat much and that I not shooting for a heavy lunch. It would make me drowsy.

The school gathered back at the field for the gammas to get their 5, which went quick. The betas were after that and were finished just as fast. Then came the Luna which there were only a few select Alpha females. Ten of them to be exact.

The first four sets got their victors and there was the last one. Headmaster called out, "Now for the last pair we have Alexia Thrush and Abril's Smith!!"

I looked at Alexia and she wasn't pleased with having to fight her friend. She barked, "Follow."

So I did. Right down to the sideline. What surprised me was that Abril had shown up. I glanced at her and I was concerned by the look on her face she looked like she knew she was going to win.

Something did not feel right.
