Reesha was sickeningly sweet and exceedingly flexible in yoga class. The other women in yoga class took to her almost immediately. They marvelled at her flexibility and her prowess in yoga while she giggled and simpered, widening her . She was generally behaving like a little kitten out to win everyone's heart.
Sabrina opted not to join the class. She chose to wait at the counter outside the studio but couldn't stop staring into the studio to observe what that little minx was up to. As expected, the little minx was exaggerating every move and every pose to get Kavan's attention but he was not moved a single bit. In fact, he remained professional throughout. He did not even spare an extra glance at Reesha as he went around the class correcting some of the students' poses.
After the class, Reesha stood around socialising with the other women. She was the centre of attention and lapping up all of their admiration for her.
"Are you Kavan's girlfriend? We've not seen you around before," one of the women asked.
"You both look good together!" another woman said.
The little minx had the audacity to giggle and shake her head shyly.
"No, we are good friends though," she told them.
The women continued to gush over her and one of them even pulled Kavan over to stand next to Reesha.
"Honestly, you both look like a legit couple! You must be secretly dating," one of them said. Several other women nodded and agreed.
"Yes, you belong each other, both of you are so flexible and good in yoga," another one said.
That rankled. Sabrina wanted to stalk in there and kiss Kavan just to show them that she is the girlfriend and not that little minx but resisted the urge. She doesn't want to cause a scene and Kavan wouldn't like it.
"Awww…you guys are so sweet but truly, we are just friends, right Kavan?" Reesha looked up at Kavan with her large doe eyes, batting her eyelashes prettily. It makes Sabrina feel like going over there to rip out her eyelashes.
"Yes, we are childhood friends, nothing more," Kavan told the women. "I actually have a girlfriend," he gestured at Sabrina outside.
The women turned in unison and gawped at Sabrina. They looked shocked.
"Her?"
"We thought she's just your part-time cleaner!"
"But she's so clumsy!"
"Come on Kavan, you must be joking!"
It was a cacophony of disbelief from the women. Sabrina caught a flash of a smirk on Reesha's face. If it was not illegal to kill someone….She took a deep breath and tried to channel calmness.
The women began to file out of the studio, casting her disbelieving looks and still whispering amongst themselves. She heard snippets of "Reesha definitely suits him better" among the whispers. She smiled woodenly at them. Let them talk. They don't matter. Their opinions will not change how Kavan felt about her.
Then Reesha came out.
"So, should we go have dinner? I really have so much to catch up with you Kavan," she said, to Kavan, openly ignoring Sabrina.
"Oh, sorry, I have plans with Sabrina," Kavan told her. Sabrina was glad. They did not actually have plans but it was obvious Kavan is rejecting Reesha. Maybe now he sensed that Reesha is not as innocent as she had projected.
Reesha pouted prettily.
"Awww Kav! It's been ages since we hang out…don't tell me you are forgetting your friends now that you have a girlfriend,"
"I'm sorry Reesha, maybe another time," Kavan said, he placed an arm around Sabrina. "I really have plans with my girl,"
Reesha pursed her lips. A flash of annoyance crossed her eyes and she slid a look shooting daggers at Sabrina.
"Alright then, I'll give you a call tomorrow, maybe we can have brunch instead?" she asked hopefully.
Kavan shrugged noncommittally.
"We will see how it goes…I have an early morning class and I do have private sessions tomorrow," he said.
"Well, then, I'll go then," Reesha finally gave up. She turned to Sabrina. "I'll have these clothes laundered and return them to you tomorrow," she said.
"Oh, it's okay, you keep them," Sabrina said. She never wanted anything the little minx had worn. She might even burn it.
"No no I always return what's not mine and I make sure, I always get back what's mine," Reesha said.
Sabrina has no doubt what she is implying.
"I don't easily give away what's mine either but those are old clothes, you can burn them if you don't want them," she replied.
"Fine, see you around then" Reesha said. She gave Kavan another wide-eyed innocent look. "I'll call you Kav," she said. Then she sashayed out, swinging her small hips.
Sabrina rolled her eyes. She looked at Kavan and noticed him looking at Reesha in contemplation but when he noticed her looking at him, his expression changed. She wondered what that look meant. Was he attracted to Reesha? A seed a doubt was planted in her mind. She tried to shake it off. Not her Kavan. He can't be attracted to his childhood friend.
"Let's go, like I said, I have plans for us," he said, pulling her up. He linked his hand with hers. "We have a wedding to plan," he said.
"Is that it? No proposal?" she asked as they walked companionably back to his flat.
"I thought you already proposed on your knees earlier?" he quipped, winking at her.
"You pushed me away and told me to stop so that you can open the door to that woman," she pointed out.
"Ah dang…I forgot…wait…are you jealous of Reesha?"
"Who? Me? Jealous? Hah! I am a dragon, I am far too superior to be jealous of her," she sniffed at the very notion.
Kavan grinned at her.
"Doesn't sound like it though…"
"That's ridiculous…to think a dragon like me will be jealous of some mortal tiny slip of a woman like her," she insisted.
Kavan chuckled. He kissed her hand.
"Don't worry, she's just a friend, if I had liked her, I would have continued dating her," he said.
"Continue dating??? You mean you dated before???" she did a double take. That's news! He only said Reesha was his childhood friend but they dated? Did they sleep together too? She narrowed her eyes at him.
"That was many years ago, it didn't really work out so we decided to remain as friends," he said.
"So, did you, well, sleep together?" she had to know.
"Hey, I thought we will keep our past the past and not talk about it? I didn't ask about your past relationships," he said.
"But…none of my past relationships intruded into our lives and joined your yoga class," she said.
"It's long over okay? Let's just forget it," he said. "Let's talk about our wedding instead, when do you want it?" he changed the subject.
Since he seemed eager to discuss wedding plans, Sabrina let him change the subject but she will not let it go. Sure, they have agreed not to talk about their past. But not if Reesha is part of that past!
