Alice has gone off to see what the others have found out, hopefully something good. Leaving me sitting here in my own thoughts, my eyes trail to the wall of missing persons.
'All this talk about pieces has my head spinning… What if?'
Standing up, I walk over to my office and start looking through the missing person's file. Each one about the same, house ransacked, and bodies never found. Could all these people be a part of this game? Leaning back in my chair, I close my eyes and take a deep breath a sharp pinch from where Alice's medical expertise on the wound at my side made me flinch slightly.
"She better have been right…" I grumble, as the fall of footsteps draws closer to my office. Looking over to the door, Olive stands there a stern look on her face. "What's up pipsqueak?"
"Besides being the definition of stressed…" She sighs falling into the chair across from me. "How do you handle it?"
"A lot of practice kid…" Letting out a sigh, I rub my eyes tiredness starting to drape over me like a blanket as I mumble. "A lot of practice…"
Alice steps into the room, and out of the corner of my eye motions over to Olive who stands up. Stepping out of the room as my eyes drew back to the computer.
"Do you think all the missing people within the last six years are a part of this?"
Turning to look towards me, she shrugs her shoulders. Closing the door behind her as she walks to my side.
"What do you want me to do about the kids? This weather hasn't gotten any better." She leans against my chair as I rub my eyes.
"Take them upstairs to the coffee room, they need as much sleep as they can get for the morning."
Quirking a brow as she lifts herself from the arm of my chair, confusion drapes her words.
"And pray tell what we are doing in the morning?"
"Ending this before it can end our town…" As those words dropped from my exhausted voice the phone rang.
