I woke up to my stomach growling,demanding me for food and my bladder calling me out to release her free. Damn my pregnant body I cursed.
"Up ahead is a motel nearby as per the GPS, so we can stop there to have something",Joshua said,probably he might have heard my stomach growling. I was now getting used to embarrassing myself in front of Joshua and Zeke so I only nodded.
We arrived at the motel,but it looked quite deserted and creepy. There was just a single grocery store nearby and nothing else. As we weren't planning to stay the night,but to freshen up, we asked for one single room. The manager looked at us with a look of bewilderment as we were five of us but had only asked for a single room,but he still gave us the room key nonetheless and led us to the room.
When we reached the room, I rushed to use the rest room. Once I was done, we all went down to check if there was anything worth having . The manager pointed the obvious that there was only a single grocery store.
We went to the store and browsed around for whatever was available,but since we didn't have a lot of choices, we settled for whatever was available.
"I don't think we can find anything filling out here,but these chips look good", Gabby said,bringing in the packets of chips she had picked. I added in my own collection and when all of us were done, we left for the room.
"Issy, I think you should have less chips. Here snack on these",Joshua said and handed me some dried fruits and yogurt. "But it won't fill my stomach",I pouted,and he only shrugged and handed me some apples. "When did you get these?",I asked. "You and Gabby only looked for the unhealthy snacks while Joshua had to find you the healthy ones",Aurora chuckled and winked at me,and I could only blush furiously at her innuendo remark.
"Zeke, you need to step up",Gabby said ."What?",he replied, just as he came out after freshening up. "Nothing,Gabby was just babbling", I quickly told him. Joshua, who was standing at the side gave a chuckle and I could only feel embarrassed at my friends' antics. I loved them both,but at times, they could surely embarrass me.
After having rested for a couple of hours, Zeke suggested we move out as it would get quite late arriving the city if we didn't move out now. We all agreed and checked out.
While inside the car, I kept on furiously munching the apples as Joshua had not allowed me to take any chips with me and I had to eat to fill my hungry stomach. He laughed out on seeing my actions and said,"I'll make it up to you by taking you out for dinner".
I gaped at him,my mouth hanging wide open and seeing that, he pinched my nose. It was the second time he had pinched my nose and it still felt awkward,and my face turned a fresh red in embarrassment. "Don't you consider me a friend still?", he said casually and I smiled back,"Sure yeah. Then I'll be checking out the most expensive restaurants in the city for the dinner".
He smiled and nodded and I noticed that he had the same dimples Zeke had. "You and Zeke look pretty much alike. You both have really beautiful eyes,and the dimples as well",I mumbled out. He only nodded still,but did not react much. Seeing how he didn't give much of a reaction,I wondered if I had something out of line,and quickly added,"but that's only understandable cause you're both cousins".
He still didn't reply and just shrugged off. Not wanting to pursue the subject further, I tried to lay my head on the headrest and closed my eyes, after which I quickly dozed off.
The next time I opened my eyes, we had already reached the outskirts of the city,and that's when it hit me, where were we going to live? We couldn't go back to the university dorms. We had actually decided that Gabby,Aurora and I would be living together, but had not actually found the place to rent.
I fumbled in my handbag to fish out my phone and Joshua looked at me with a look of concern and said,"You left something at home?". "I'm just looking for my phone. I just remembered we still haven't found a place to rent",I replied finally fishing out my phone and dialling Aurora, the more sensible one between the two,and waited for her to answer.
