I wake up back in a hospital room, 'This scenario has become too common.' I try to move and sit up, but I can feel my whole body ache in pain. "Owww," I let out a sad signal of pain. "Why do I keep getting hurt? He didn't even hit me." "Ota, you alright man?" I look over to find Takao sitting in a chair nearby. "What happened?" "I don't know, I was walking around after leaving the Pussycat's place and I found you unconscious and bruised being carried by a stranger. I was gettin real bad vibes so I insisted on taking you to the hospital, but the guy refused to hand you over. We fought and I got you to the hospital," He informs me of what happened after I fell unconscious. "Alright, why does my whole body feel like gelatin?" "The doctors said it was your quirk malfunctioning after severe abuse. I guess having the tournament and this happen was too much."
"More important, what happened between you and that guy?" "Yes, I would also like to hear the story if you wouldn't mind," a tall man dressed in a police uniform consisting of a tan overcoat and a tan hat walks in. 'I've seen this guy,' "Hello sir, who are you?" "Im detective Tsukauchi, It's nice to meet you Ota," the man introduces himself, taking off his hat and letting me have a better view of his face. His face is pretty average with short black hair and black eyes, 'Oh yeah. This is All Might's police friend, the average detective guy. He knows about AFO and about Toshi's quirk, right?' "It's nice to meet you too sir, I can't bow right now, my neck hurts."
"That's quite alright," he holds his hand up in a dismissing stop hand gesture. "I'm more interested in what happened before your friend found you, would you mind telling me?" "Sure," I nod my head and think of what to say. "After training, at the Pussycat's place, I was walking through the forest back home. On my way, I saw something shine in the distance and it was coming at me. I dodged and another one came. I decided I needed to get home as soon as possible, so I used my quirk and teleported as fast as I could home. After reaching the street however, I felt something hit my leg and fell asleep," I give an abridged but pretty factual series of events.
"I see, this was what hit you," he says, holding out a modified tranq bullet. "What's that," I ask playing dumb. "It's a tranquilizer bullet meant to put someone asleep from a distance. We assume the man was shooting at you from a building top and after hitting you he came to retrieve you. You're lucky your friend was there to save you, the district you were going through was under construction so not a lot of people were going through there at the time." 'Alright, makes sense. Takao has saved me thrice now, but not like anyone's keeping track.'
"More importantly, do you have any idea why someone would want to kidnap you like this man had intended?" 'That's a fair question, I'm pretty average in all respects except for my quirk. Was I right to assume my doctor was AFO's doctor guy? That might explain it.' "Hmmm, the only reason I could think of would be my quirk," I say and he flips through his notebook. "You're quirk, huh? It was originally listed as a combination of Portal and Teleportation, but after you submitted being able to use Friction as well, it has been put as undefined until you find more uses out of it to further identify what it could be. It's a special quirk, I could see why someone might want to get their hands on it," he reads this information from his notebook and starts contemplating.
(Tsukauchi POV:)
'Could it be him, All for One? It would make sense for him to want this kid's quirk. If nurtured properly, It could become really powerful despite its distance limits. But even then, the range has been recorded to have increased since his first quirk assessment to his recent redefinement test in preparation for his time in Junior High. If AFO really is behind this, it could spell trouble for this child.' (Unbenounced to the man, these limits were in fact falsified by Ota as to downplay his quirk. The teleportation and portal distance limits have been severely lessened to draw little suspicion.)
(Back to Ota POV:)
"Well, thanks to your and your friend's report, we have actually been able to identify the criminal in charge," he says, pulling out a picture of the sniper. "His name is Tanaka Toby. His quirk allows him incredible accuracy with weapons and he's a mercenary for hire. We haven't been able to track him down as of yet, but you can be sure our officers and the Pros are doing their best to find him." "Sir, what if this happens again, what can I do?" I can't be sure that those won't happen again. If this All for One, then he probably already has a scheme planned. I need protection.
"Well, we can't have pros monitoring you 24/7. I can suggest a direct line to a hero's branch near where you live. Do you plan to go to U.A? It's the nearest hero school from you," the man offers a solution. "Yes, that's right." "Good, we can ask the support course to design something for immediate requests for emergencies. Does that seem fair?" "Sure, I didn't know you did that." "We normally don't, but for a future U.A student and potential pro hero, it would be wrong not to help."
We talk a bit more about the exacts of the encounter and he bids me a fast recovery. "Jeez man. Ever since you showed up, my life has been exciting." Takao who was mainly in the background sleeping has finally opened his eyes. "Yeah man, I'm just the life of the party." "Mmm, you've got an odd sense of partying. By the way, you dropped this," he says holding up my 'Ota the Space Hero' notebook. "Ahh, did you read it?" "Of course," he says, not batting an eye. "Fair! So what did you think?" "You've got big aspirations. I didn't know you could do some of the things you wrote and If your future powers come to fruition, you will probably be a top hero. Also your quirk is broken, but it explains your powers." "Yeah, man," I say, taking back my notebook and pocketing it away.
'I'm not too worried that someone found out. Especially if it's Takao. Even All Might had a few people who knew about his accumulation quirk.' "Ota," a voice comes from behind me as I'm currently facing away from the door and towards Takao. "Jesus christ," I reflexively seized up a little as I swung to the left side of my bed, arms up ready to fight. "Ow," this sudden motion hurts my aching body. I look to find a Toga by my bedside staring at me with a smile. "Did ya need something?" This seems to be a reminder of our previous engagement and the smile leaves here.
"You left me on the couch," her head lies half way on the bed as her mouth is hidden and her eyes stare at me. Her eyebrows are down leaving the impression that she's mad. "That's correct, it was time to go home." "I wanted to lay with you longer." "Well if you promise not to move much, then you can lay with me now." "Hmmm, give me blood and it's a deal." "And what do I lose if I don't? You're the one that wants to lay with me in the first place." She takes the covers from a weak fragile dying young boy and wraps herself in them. "If you don't, then you'll stay cold."
"Wow, how villainous. Stealing the covers of a man who can't even fight back." She finally sticks her head above the bedside and also sticks her tongue out at me. "Fine, you can lay with me for a bit and get some blood." "Good," she gets up and stares at me and the bed. She takes a second but then, without any discomfort, she swoops in beside me. Takao, having nothing more to do here, leaves.
"Ota, do you like anyone," Toga asks, laying on my chest. "Yes, a lot of people. Mom, Dad, Takao, Pixie, Tiger, -" "That's not what I meant. Do you have a crush on anyone?" I yawn while getting comfy, "Yeah, kinda." "Who?" "If you want to know, then I have to know yours." "You," she doesn't even blink while saying it. "And maybe Takao." "I see. Not hard to believe, you don't talk to anyone else." "Yeah, so who's yours?" "You," I copy her act. "And maybe Jiro. But only when you're five years older." "Why five years? And why not Aiko?" "Five years from now, because I'll be in U.A then. And Aiko likes Takao." "Hmm."
We lay there for a bit before a nurse comes in to check on me and Toga is forced to leave the bed. Afterwards; however, she's back beside me and falls asleep not long after. While she sleeps, someone new comes in, dad. "Wow, am I interrupting," he whispers. 'Wow, haha.' "Nah, she was just tired and thought I looked comfy." "That's my boy," he gives me a thumbs up. A newspaper finds its way into the scene as it hits dad upside the head. "Abe! Don't turn our son into a womanizer. Are you ok sweetie?" My mom makes sure to keep her voice down while asking for my condition. 'That's fake. You like the idea of me having a girlfriend just as much as dad. You didn't try to get her off me.'
"I'm fine mom, just tired." "Ok. You know you can take a break if you need, sweetie. You can take some time off of training and stay home." 'That would be really boring.' "No, I'm fine. I should get stronger so this doesn't happen again." 'I've been thinking of what happened the whole time I've been here. I could've made a dirt wall then teleported away no problem. Or maybe head towards the Pussycat's instead of the city. "Ok, sweetie. Just now we're here for you and if you need anything "
"Next topic, how has your training been going," dad interjects and asks. "Good. I can teleport up to a kilometer and a half and portal up to 75 meters." "That's great, keep working and you won't have to walk anywhere anymore." The conversation continues onward. I set to be kept in the hospital overnight to monitor my recovery and Toga asked her parents to let her stay. They were very much against the idea, but she somehow persuaded them to let her stay. So we slept the night away.
While I was given the time, I thought about the situation. 'This doesn't bode well. If it really is AFO, then he might go for the people around me. Wait, would AFO do that? I guess it depends on how desperate he is for my quirk. Either way, I need insurance that my people are protected. I need to engineer some trackers. Maybe, heart rate monitors. It would probably be the right Idea to give Kota's parents some too so I can figure out when the muscular fight happens.' I drift off to sleep holding onto Toga. It calms me and I stop living in the future. "Warm," I say as I snuggle more into Toga and the bed.
