Time Skip (1 year)
*Yawn* "Things have been going well," I say outloud to myself. After the day with Takao, I checked on Aiko's father and found that there was little to no suspicion of his involvement in Soga Clan activities. I've also been slowly investigating other Yakuza groups but I still haven't found Chisaki's group. As for All For One, there is literally nothing about him anywhere. He's laying so low, I wouldn't be surprised if he was based in the earth's core. The only nod to his existence is All Might's lesser media presence after his injury.
As for my list of goals. I've started focusing less on my combat techniques in favor of my crafting techniques for my quirk. I'm able to do what most industrialized and specialized tools are able to do. And with my quirk acting as a medium, and not the source, I've made 3 materials and have gotten each patented. One is of a very dense steel alloy having low conductivity. Another is of a very light, but strong, titanium alloy with high tensile strength. And the last is a metallic cloth stronger than kevlar.
With these patents, of course, deals and requests for transfer have come. Some good, some bad, but only a few that I'm actually interested in. "Like this one," I flip my laptop around for my father to read. "Hmmmm, Nikoli Brown of 'Torrent,' a materials manufacturing company focused on supplying hero agencies with materials. It looks good, and I actually know the guy who runs it from my time in America," my dad informs me. "Really? What was he like? How did you meet him?" "We met back in college. He was on the support side of hero work and I was on the Hero side. We lost contact after I moved here to Japan. He probably emailed you knowing you were my son. He used to talk so much about making sure my kids go to his support side rather than my hero side. He'd always try to do the same with me, saying, 'Come to the dark side Abe, we've got cookies,'" He chuckles at this.
"I'd like to work with him. You think he's back our company once we make it?" "Hmm, if he thinks it's good enough, then yeah. He is a business man after all, he'll invest in any company he sees promise in," my dad gives me an assuring comment and we begin to discuss a date to meet the guy. We send him an email saying to meet for 2 weeks from now and we go on with our two weeks as normal. Btw, a normal day for me would be reading manga and webnovels, watching anime, doing some daily training, and messing with my quirk to find new techniques. I also run through a lot of tech designs in my head and even write a few down.
Time Skip (2 weeks)
Two weeks passed by in a blink of an eye. Me and my dad are currently in a limo being driven by an employee of Torrent's Japan branch found in Saitama. We won't be meeting Nikoli as he's in America, but he assured us that the man running the Japan branch, Tadashi Haru, was a well mannered and good trusted man. Speaking of, everyone in Japan is soooo nice compared to America. They have honorifics and are pretty courteous with one another. Big change from the crazies in America, still want an American cheese burger though.
As we're driving I take the time to think of more designs and specs of the Iron Panther suit I'm planning on making. I'd like to say that, compared to my last life, my brain's way smarter! My fine motor skills are improved, memory, reflexes, learning speed, processing power, etc. It's probably due to the calculations I need for my quirk. At the start, a lot of it ran on instinct, but I noticed that as I grew, I did more calculations for my powers. I found direct and precise coordinates of far off locations, adjusted friction constants in metals to get the proper temperature, and had to make many other calculations for my more complex powers like a force field in the makes inspired by the anime character, 'Accelerator.'
As we're driving along, an odd occurrence happens and I can't help but notice a girl walking on the street as our car passes by. The girl has chestnut hair and the same colored eyes. She seems to be wearing a school uniform having a brown vest sweater over a white blouse and grey shirt with brown loafers, a grey skirt, and loose socks. She's currently flipping a coin in her right hand, she's also accompanied by Denki Kaminari as I remember him saying he lived in Saitama in the anime. Less importance on him however, as the girl flips the coin again and it stops in mid air. It then falls down in a crescent pattern and hangs as if tied to a string from the girl's out stretched index finger. I also notice a few small sparks coming from her finger as this happens.
'Wait a minutes, what the fuck? First off, what a coincidence talking about accelerator and meeting her. Second, what the fuck is she doing here, this aint her time line or her series. Third, hi :3.' "Hey dad, I forgot to get something, I'll be right back." I announce to my father as he looks at me questioningly and watches as I teleport out of sight. I chose to teleport a few meters behind the girl and Denki and walk up behind them. "Hey! That's a pretty cool trick, how did you do that, what's your quirk?" The pair stop and turn around as I address them and the girl speaks, "Electromagnetism. I can mess with the magnetic field of objects and make them move like I am now," she informed me with a questioning answer as it was a bit obvious. She however decides to demonstrate the quirk to me as she spins her finger around and has the coin circle around it as she does.
"That's pretty cool," I say and Denki joins in. "Hey, don't you want to know what my quirk is too, man?" He offers after feeling left out of my admiration. I nod my head, and watch as he claps his hands together and pulls them apart as arcs of electricity begin to form between them. "Very cool, is it a coincidence that you both have electric powers?" "Nah, we go to the same school, we hang out because she has no friends," Denki says and the girl grabs his shoulder and shocks the shit outta him till he falls over. "Don't listen to him, his quirk fries his brain every time he uses it and it's started to take effect. I'm Misaka Mikoto and he's Denki Kaminari, nice to meet you," she introduces herself and does a small head bow. 'Yeah, his brain cells probably died even more now that you shocked him so hard. What kind of anime logic is this to be able to assault a guy in broad daylight?' "Hajimemashite. I'm Hachiro Ota, but my friends call me Ota, feel free to do the same," I bow back and introduce myself.
'Well my assumption was correct, this person should not be here. She's the main character of another anime, "A Certain Scientific Railgun." I ain't got a clue why she's here, but since she is, I wonder if that ass hat "Accelerator" is also here,' I think to myself and realize I actually have somewhere to be. "Hey, I was actually doing something before I stopped to say hi. I'd really like to talk with you and Denki again some time, you think I could get your numbers?" I offer and get a little nervous as I wait for the answer, this girl is hecka cute after all.
She looks at me a bit confused until I notice her cheeks redden and she nods, "Uhh, sure. My number is -xxxxxx-. Hey Denki, get up before I zap you again," she calls to her friend while crocheting down and moving her electric finger close to the man's calf. "Nooo, only Midnight can do that," he says as he rolls away from her hand. "What did you say?" Misaka seems angry at this and charges up some more. "I still need your number if you want to give it to me," I offer a hand to help Denki up. "Sure man, just protect me from her," He says while hiding behind me and offers his number. I input both of their contacts then Misaka asks me, "You know ours, but what's your quirk?" Her hair is still a little electrified, but she's not actively trying to zap Kaminari right now. "It'd be a lot more fun to show you and have you guess," I offer the idea and get ready to use my portals while Kaminari is still hiding behind me.
I reach my hand out to my right and open up a portal pulling out some light weight titanium. "Cool," they both say in unison. "So your quirk is you can make portals," Misaka suggests. "Something like that," I reply while focusing on a small little frog charm hanging from her school bag she has in her hands. I focus my energy on the metal in my hand shaping it to match the Gekota frog charm and adjust the metal to be lighter at the cost of sturdiness. Mikoto instantly takes notice of the shiny frog charm and her interest piques as her face curves into a smile, not unlike a cat's :3. "And one last trick," I say, making a spot for it to fit on a keychain and teleporting it right next to Misaka's original. She becomes confused at where it went until I point at her bag where the metal Gekota hangs from her bag. I quickly take point at the opportunity of them both looking at the Gekota to teleport away and back in the car. 'That should leave a nice lasting impression. I definitely want to talk to her again. :3'
Suddenly teleporting back into my seat startles my dad. "Now what the heck were you doing boy? Almost gave your old man a heart attack thinking I'd find you on the news the next day after getting arrested for a crime involving bubblegum and three chairs!" "What," I ask, confused at my father's delusions. "Where did you go? Better not have done nothing dumb, using your quirk like you just did is illegal," he warns me in a stern tone. "I saw a cute girl and went to ask for her number," I tell him honestly. "... Did you get it?" "Yeah :3" "That's my boy! A fine use of your quirk! Let me tell you, the first time I met your mother I had her fawning allllll over me after showing off how easily I could pick her up! We used to have dinner at this fine restaurant and I would always float a fine selection of drinks around us for her to choose from. Boy let me tell you, the fastest way to a girl's heart-." He continues talking about his exploits as a man mentioning a few dates with women besides my mother back in his playboy years. 'Dad's gotta be one of the most chilled guys around. No other Japanese talks like him, probably cause he's from America.'
The drive continues and we eventually end up at a 5 story building expanding for a few blocks. It reminds me of the size of a college campus and is plastered in a modern scheme of white with a lot of windows. It has a giant light up sign at it's front labeled 'Torrent,' and the limo pulls into an underground parking area. We exit the limo and the driver brings us to an elevator that we ride up to a reception area. The receptionist greets the driver, "Good evening Urn, who are the guests that you've brought?" Urn speaks, "Evening Sara, this is Hachiro Abe and his son Hachiro Ota. They are here to do business with Mr. Tadashi to sell their material patents." After saying this Sara turns to her computer and types away pulling up our information. "Everything seems in order, you're a bit early however, but not without thought. Mr. Tadashi has prepared a tour for you both if you are interested." We agree and are given a name tag and key card and a lady is called down to accompany us.
We begin a tour of their facility finding that they have different showings of what they do. They show some of their assembly process, different support items they manufactured and we meet one of their scientists that apparently worked on the Tokyo Sky Egg. I actually read about the Egg online which was a 500 meter tall tower with a dome near the top where spectators could go to and overlook Tokyo. It was actually attacked and destroyed 2 years ago, a few months before I ran into the sniper. It's a pretty big shame, I would have loved to visit it. Anyways the tour continues on and I talk to some researchers and scientists along the way, but it eventually comes to a close with us ending up back at the receptionist. "Mr.Tadashi is ready for you both, I'll accompany you to meet him," she says while leading us to an elevator and arriving at the 5th floor.
We enter a lounge area to find a 30 something year old business man sitting on a couch with his head laid back and his blue tie loose around his neck. My dad says after seeing the man, "Haru, it's you?" The man sits up and I see his face. He has black square glasses and a square chin. Pretty thicc eyebrows too. "Ahh, Abe, how have you been?" The man gets up and walks halfway to meet Abe and shakes hands. "I didn't realize it was you until I saw you. You change your last name," my father questions. "Yeah, you remember Tadashi Misaki? We got married and I decided to take her last name. Tadashi Haru has a better ring to it than Hara Haru, don't you think?" We sit down and they continue talking, eventually my father explains that this is another one of his college friends a part of their 7 person group. It's nice listening to them reminisce and catch up, so I just sit to the side and listen.
Eventually conversation dies down and Mr. Tadashi turns to me, "So, Ota, you've got three patents for me, yes?" "Right, I have a lightweight aluminum alloy, a dense steel alloy, and a microfiber tungsten cloth," I say while pulling out the materials from my subspace. "Oh, quite an impressive quirk. I was under the impression that you could only teleport, make portals, and remove friction?" "I can't have everyone knowing my tricks," He nods at this and we start discussing. "I'm interested in all three. I know plenty of heroes that would be interested in heavy weighted gloves. The light titanium can be very useful for different construction builds. And the metal cloth might be useful in a few hero suits. I'm thinking 30 million yen for all three," he gives me his offer as was stated in the email we were presented with. The offer was negotiable however, so, "I'll say 15 million for the metallic cloth and 10% of the sales on the steel and titanium alloys." "No, I can't do that. The metallic cloth is not something with that kind of buying power. Nervatech has already developed some metallic cloth that has promised more tensile strength than what was put down for your strength test."
We continue bargaining. I raise the point that the tech they built costs more and more resource heavy. He argues that the market for heroes is high priced and plenty would be able to afford it for their suits. We negotiate the metallic cloth cost to 8.75 million and work on the alloys. He says that's too much. I say ok, we get to 6% sales. Not too bad in my opinion. I was actually hoping for 7 million on the cloth and 7.5% on alloy sales, but this works. We write up a contract and I check all of it. Everything looks good except for a clause that states, "We hold the right to exchange the material between companies and individuals in return for resources." This seemed exploitable, so we had it negotiate to where I get a small cut of resources that gets exchanged. The man seemed kinda interested in why I wanted raw resources and I told him I need them for future projects. He didn't push the matter further and we left with a signed contract and 8.75 million won in our bank account. My father was ecstatic and very proud of me, being able to hold most of the business on my own, even though he did oversee everything. We got ice cream on the way home and I arrived home happy with enough capital to start working on projects, investing, and hopefully buying a nice house in the future.
