(Day 26)
After 2 days we had finally finished the houses for each villager as well as an extra 20 which can hold 4 people each, first I was going to use geokinesis to create stone houses from the ground like before but then I remembered I had the (Basic book of carpentry and architecture) so instead I created stone bricks and used mud to act as an adhesive to keep the bricks together while employing a method of making a stone platform to build on top of for extra stability and once we were finished the village started to actually look a little dignified.
at first, I was sad I couldn't rub my success into anyone's face but that's when some envoys from the Twin lakes tribe showed up and I could see the priceless looks of amazement plastered on their faces, and even better the Chief was with them and he was doubly shocked at the quick development to the village.
"Woah, what happened here how did you make huts with stone and in such a short time, Shin can you please explain?" asked Torg
so after that Torg and I conversed at the big house where I told him some basic methods to create primitive stones since no one there could use geokinesis and in return, I asked him for information on any nomad tribes I could conquer who would quietly submit and not cause problems as well tribes who had cattle with them.
"Around us, you can find several nomadic tribes with cattle however only a few would go quietly if you conquer them the best choices are the nomadic tribes to the north who are in a tight spot due to the death of their leader, I reckon if you show them goodwill they will easily come to your side, while on the topic I remember you said you don't really like being tied down and you don't want to enter the hellish political arena that is tribes?" asked Torg
"a couple of days ago we were attacked by a war party of Valley tribes men and I managed to kill them with the help of my wolves and we even captured one alive, after the battle, I saw how wounded and beaten my villagers were so I came to the realization that the only way to stay safe and prosper is to create a village and tribe of my own," I said
"Hmm, I guess that makes sense, and sorry for getting you involved in our problems they probably saw the caravan we sent last month and decided to follow it, once again sorry. now time to talk about what I came here for, I'm sure you also got the notification from the translucent box thing saying the way power is classified has changed," said Torg
"yes I have, I also got a message saying it's for easier grouping as more creatures start to utilize mana or what you call shaman arts," I said
After that, we talked for a little longer and went to the basement to interrogate the prisoner, it turns out what Torg said was correct they saw the transport of goods and decided to attack us, but what really shocked us was the Valley tribe has conquered a couple of smaller tribes and are arming for a full-on assault, thankfully it won't happen for another month but nonetheless, it worries me and now I also have to speed up my plans of expansion so I don't get conquered by them.
"Thanks for receiving us but we gotta go and prepare for the incoming threat see ya later," said Torg
once they were almost gone I told the system to appraise Torg I wanted to see where he falls in this new power system.
[Name: Torg]
[Affiliation: Twin lake tribe(Chieftan)]
[Title: Warmonger: given to those who have killed more than 1,000 people in times of war.]
[Age: 83]
[Middle Iron tier warrior]
[Affintiy: Ice]
wait, system what's this new affinity thing?
[Now using appraise you can find out a warrior or mages affinities, for mages that means magic, and for a warrior that means their auras and battle arts]
I see well that makes sense and of course, Torg is a whole tier above me. well time to get back to make preparations to conquer the nomadic tribes.
(Day 27)
After a whole day of preparing I finally set out with Ash and Luna to go and conquer the nearest tribe of nomads the Rolling wind tribe, before I left I taught Lang a technique to condense mana into their bodies and a training regiment to help them get stronger then I left.
(Plains north of the tribe)
After 10 hours of running, we finally found the temporary camp of the tribe, when I got to the front a couple of warriors stopped me and asked me what I was doing and who I was, I decided since one way or another I will conquer them so I straight up said "I'm here to challenge the Chief for control of the tribe." the only reason I did this was that Torg told me this tribe values strength very much and they wouldn't be hostile if I took it with my own strength. at first, the guards looked at me in anger but I unleashed a little of my middle bronze tier aura and they both stepped back since they were only peak tier, copper warriors.
After that, they led me to the middle of the camp where the Chief was waiting, and to my surprise, it seemed like the tribe of 45 people were all waiting around looking expectantly towards the fight to come.
"Hello challenger, it been a while since someone tried to conquer this tribe through a duel, and lucky for me you don't seem weak either, before we fight let's introduce ourselves and set some ground rules, firstly my name is Alejandro is the chief of this tribe, next do you agree to not subject my people to slavery if you win." he said. "yes." I responded. "then let's get this battle underway, in this fight, no outside forces are allowed to interfere and the use of weapons is aloud, the winner will be whoever kills their opponent, now lets fight!" he yelled
[Name: Alejandro]
[Affiliation: Rolling winds tribe(Chieftan)]
[Title: The Swift - given to those who excel in agility, grants 20% more agility and stamina]
[Age: 54]
[middle tier Bronze warrior]
[Affinity: Fire]
wow if he was stronger he would be a good counter against Torg.
After I appraised his strength without hesitation he launched towards me with what seemed to be two obsidian knives, once he was 2 meters away from me I used
the battle went on for another half hour while we were trading cuts and wounds neither of us had the upper hand on the other. pant pant "guess I have no choice but to use magic." once he heard that I could see his face contort to show worry and that's when I knew I had him cornered so I used geokinesis to trap his feet with some earth then I cast a fireball a half meter big then I launched it down onto my adversary and with a boom, a crater showed up where he was standing, once the dust cleared I could hear the villagers cry in sadness and some even looked at me in anger but non moved on that feeling, "cough cough, you almost had me there I thought I dead luckily I only came out with a broken leg." said Alejandro. once the tribesmen saw their leader was alive they exclaimed in joy.
"Well kid, I surrender, with my leg like this I can't fight anymore so just end my life quickly and I hope you don't put my people into slavery." once the people heard this they all looked towards me in despair, what I said next surprised not only the people but even Alejandro himself. "why would I kill you and waste such a good warrior I'd rather you and the tribe come to my side without bloodshed." after I said that the people rejoiced and even Alejandro had a satisfied smile on his face then he limped towards me and bowed to me while saying, "from this day on the Rolling winds tribe well be under your control may you tell us the new name of our tribe, Chief," he said while smiling. "From this day onward you are all a part of the Erebus Tribe named after the Greek primordial God of darkness."
[Ding! Congratulations for formally naming your tribe, the name has been changed from Midnight tribe to Erebus tribe]
cool.
after the fight, everyone brought out some food and we had a feast to commemorate the new union of the tribe. "Hey Alejandro, I would like to make you the captain of the village guards once we get back I will also give you a way to become stronger and a training regiment for the soldiers, I hope you and the future generations of soldiers can become stronger than anyone else." "of course Chief but I'm afraid that will have to wait a few months for my leg to heal." "oh you don't have to worry about that ill use basic healing magic to set the bone in place then we can wrap it and you should be good in a couple of weeks."
once we were done eating I did a headcount of all the new villagers and found that there are 25 men and 20 women, while there being 18 more children who didn't watch the fight 8 males and 10 females respectively 3 boys are at least 14 and 2 girls are at least 13, among the men, there were 8 hunters who were all between middle to peak tier copper warriors and 5 women hunters which surprised me that there wasn't a gender gap but then i realized with the help of magic and mana anybody can become strong, the rest were all farmers and there where a few strong men who were carpenters, what surprised me next was all the villagers except for Alejandro were pretty young with the oldest being a man in his early 30's when I asked about this with a sad face they told me that the elderly usually die in the winter and I assured them that from now on no one will die from freezing or hunger
(Day 28)
I decided to stay at the camp for the night then in the morning, we left to go back to the village, with the extra people it would take us around a day and a half to get back so we made haste and made camp near the forest we would have to go through.
At night I was sitting near the campfire keeping watch while the villagers slept and that's when Luna came up to me and said...
of course once i heard this I got up and didn't hesitate to wake some hunters to keep watch while I leave, I wouldn't miss this opportunity to gain the loyalty of more wolves and on top of that, they're dire wolves. once we arrived where luna said they were I found 6 adult dire wolves 4 males and 2 females and surprisingly 3 pups, 1 male and 2 females, the adult wolves had cuts and wounds all over their bodies, and in front, there was a dead brown bear, at first they were cautious of me some even showed their fangs but after Luns conversed with them they relaxed, that's when I used healing magic to seal the cuts they all looked overjoyed, after that, I sliced up and cooked some of the bear meat and gave it to the wolves, while they were eating I did an appraisal and to my surprise, the whole pack came up which made things easier.
[Dire wolf pack]
[Number of wolves: 6 adults, 3 pups]
[Oldest: Apache(Alpha Dire wolf) 12 yrs old]
[Youngest: pup 8 months]
[Loyalty: Shin Midnight 58%]
[Notes: This pack is made up of 2nd and 3rd generation dire wolves, the average power of the pack is early to middle bronze tier, the Alpha Apache is a middle bronze tier beast]
After I got done appraising them I got a notification which put a smile on my face.
[Ding! the host has gained 70% loyalty from a Dire wolf pack, first time reward has been granted]
[New skill unlocked:
< This food is really good>
Hello, I'm Shin Midnight, know you probably aren't going to call me master so just call me boss, once we head back to the camp where I'm staying in the morning we'll leave to the village where you'll meet two other forest wolves who will show you where to stay and tell you about me and the village.
sure, why not. after we did the ritual where you combine your blood I could feel my bond with not only the pack but with my other wolf companions.
[Ding! New title unlocked! (Champion of wolves) grants the user a 20% increase in strength when fighting with a wolf companion nearby(10 meter radius) also grants 40% more affinity with wild wolves]
Awesome this will help with my goal to increase the wolves in the village, who knows maybe in the future wolf riders will be a thing. once we got back to the camp at first the guards were frightened when they saw the dire wolves behind me but they calmed down when I told them what happened, then in the morning, I had to explain all over again to the villagers. "Haha I knew you were a special kid but I never thought you could tame this many dire wolves, I don't even think we could fight against that many much less by myself." laughed Alejandro
(Day 29)
after another 7 or so hours of walking, we finally arrived at the village and I could see the faces of all the villagers light up when they saw the stone brick houses they would be living in, once we entered I called for Lang and he showed everyone to their houses and we would give them a tour and show them the fields which were now 100 acres large.
"now that, that's finished time to set up the training grounds and teach the hunters a way to get stronger and give them the training regiment and hopefully i could help the Twin lakes tribe mount an offensive on the Valley tribe."
