Chapter 8 - Village maintenance

(Day 30)

Once we got back to the village and the new villagers were showed to their houses I ended the day by acclimating the new wolves with the rest of the village then went to sleep.

(In the morning)

System open village overview

[Village: name not yet made]

[Affiliation: Erebus Tribe

[Chieftan: Shin Midnight

[Population: 64 humans]

[Agriculture: 100 acres of tilled land]

[Livestock: 20 cows, 14 pigs, 30 chickens]

[Guardian beasts: Ash(Magic wolf) Luna(Ember wolf)]

[Allies: Twin lakes tribe]

[Enemies: Valley tribe, Thorn tribe(Neanderthals)]

[Village quest: (1) Build a home for each villager(completed!) (2) Build utility buildings (3) bring in livestock(Completed) (4) Increase village population(in progress) (5) Name the village]

wow, there are more quests than before, this will keep me busy that's for sure. first, let's give the village a name, hmm..... I know! let's go with Conri Village which translates to...

Wolf King Village.

[Ding! congratulations for completing village quests 1, 3, and 5! rewards have been given]

[Reward for quest 1: Blueprint for (Basic Training Ground)]

[Reward for quest 3: Skill book (Animal Handling) - Animal handling is the ability to keep, raise, and properly use domestic animals for work and food. An animal handler knows the minimum environment an animal must be kept in, the proper food to feed it, and how to keep the animal from running off. He can raise an animal to maturity if the animal has been weaned. If not, he must also have the mother present until it has been weaned. With proper care, an animal handler can increase the amount of work an animal can perform in one day or the production of milk and eggs. uses - 3]

[Reward for quest 5: Blueprint for (Primitive stone brick Village walls)]

... WTF these rewards are amazing! with this I can speed up my plans on village expansion, especially this new skill book now the herders will have a way easier time controlling the animals and soon I can teach them how to use oxen to plow fields, but that will have to wait until I actually find some oxen, these new blueprints will also come in handy now I can start producing warriors to protect the tribe, first, let's go distribute this stuff to the carpenters and herders then I'll go and meditate, it been a while since I did that.

(5 hours later)

Pant pant, damn I didn't think meditating would be so difficult now, jeez if it wasn't for this cheat skill I probably wouldn't have been able to reach peak bronze tier.

After I had gotten done with that I went to the center of the village where I was happily surprised that the builders were almost finished with the training ground, granted it was only a basic design that had a sparring area some dummy's and a few stone weights but nonetheless the completion of the grounds wound go a long way towards my goal of an army.

For a long time I've been thinking when the right time to introduce copper to the people of this world was because I didn't want to rush development too much so, I'll bring them through the Copper Age all the way to the Iron age, eventually, but first I think once I reach 200 population that's when I'll introduce copper, I can't wait to see the faces of these primitives when I show them the applications of metal, hehe.

(Day 31)

Wow, I can't believe it, it's already been a month since I was sent here, man it feels like yesterday I had just woke up in a strange new environment.

(Author note: now that we've hit the month mark I won't be doing these daily headers anymore I'll only put one for each new month then later for every year. Enjoy!)

Time to work towards completing the goal for population expansion, when Torg was here he told me of a nomadic tribe south of here with 200+ tribesmen, I think that will be where I go this time, hopefully, like Alejandro's tribe they'll back down once I show my strength.

"Morning Lang, I'm about to set off to go conquer another tribe so while I'm gone I hope you will keep training, and can you ask the builders to make more huts so once the new villagers are here I'll let them make their own houses."

"Of course Chief, and about my cultivation, I feel like I'm about to reach early bronze tier so I hope once your back you'll lend me a hand in training."

"Of course, we'll see ya till later."

"Now that everything's in order let's go, Ash, it should take us about a day or so hours to get to where they were last seen."

(10 hours later)

[Ding! Companion Ash has slain 6 early bronze tier Crazy Wolves]

[Ding! Companion Ash had reached peak bronze tier!]

Damn that was one crazy fight, who would have thought there were such things as crazy wolves, too bad it would have been nice to befriend another pack, well, at least Ash had reached peak bronze tier. hey, system how come there isn't anymore mention of levels like there used to be?

[Now that the world system has changed the use of levels is useless since creatures can now directly absorb the mana of their fallen opponents, however for sapient creatures this process is way more watered down compared to beast since you can meditate/cultivate and they can't, in other words, it's pretty much a balancing system so sapient creatures don't overtake beasts too much, now for beast, they will evolve when they are about to reach a threshold to increase strength, while this may not push them to the next realm, for example, a beast may evolve while at mid bronze tier and once they're done they will only be at peak bronze tier, however, they will be one of the strongest in their respective tier]

huh, I see so the level system was pretty much just to get me acclimated.

[Basically yes, oh speaking of which]

[Ding! Companion Ash has met the requirements to evolve options listed below]

- Thunder wolf: A magic wolf who has evolved in the ways of lightning magic and has the chance of becoming a tempest wolf

- Berserker wolf(Rare): Berserker wolves are the next line after lesser berserk wolves, they boast powerful physical attacks while utilizing mana for that extra hmph! the downside is they will have to meet specific conditions to evolve further but while at this stage they will boast iron tier strength!

- Elemental wolf(Epic): the elemental wolf comes along when a magic wolf has become aware of the elements in their surroundings, these wolves may not boast the greatest physical prowess but they make up for that with their masterful use of the elements.

- Shadow Wolf(Lengendary): The mysterious shadow wolf is a wolf who has long left his pack in pursuit of solidarity while also mastering the realm of shadows, they boast physical capabilities on par with a lesser berserk wolf while also having the capabilities of using shadow magic, not much is known about these mystical creatures as they very rarely show themselves and much less occur through evolution(Ash met the requirements when he became aware of shadow magic)

"Wha- hey Ash since when have you been able to feel the elements?"

hmm, no wonder an elemental wolf is an option but this Shadow wolf, now this is interesting... only an idiot wouldn't go with the legendary option. System, select Shadow Wolf.

[Companion Ash is evolving, please standby]

(2 hours later)

ROAR!!

[Ding! Companion Ash has successfully evolved into a Shadow Wolf]

While Ash was saying all this I was watching in awe as he was jumping from shadow to shadow in the woods and I also caught a glimpse at his new figure, His once jet grey fur is now a deep metallic black with what seems to be residual shadow mana emanating from it. but what really caught my attention were his bright red eyes, even though I know he would never attack me i couldn't help but be intimated.

[Ding! Companion Ash had reached early iron tier, Achievement unlocked - (Beast Trainer) new class unlocked (Monster Tamer)]

[Monster Tamer]

- this class is given to those who have raised and trained their monster companion to a level above them, When this class is equipped the user has a 40% higher chance of befriending or contracting with monsters/beasts.

after I was done ogling at my new class and at Ash I decided to set up camp as it was getting dark, right when I was about to make a fire with a stick all primitive style, I remembered how Ash talked about the elemental mana in the air so I closed my eyes and tried to focus on the mana in the air then I tried to further break it down and after an hour I was successful, I became aware of elemental mana! after that, I had the idea to try and control the earth mana around me and what do you know a clump of dirt materialized in front of me, while this may not seem like a big thing to others to me this was incredible because for the longest I have been relying on the skill geokinesis and now I can use the magic to create ground out of mana and so I tried to ignite the sticks in the campfire and this time in 15 minutes I was successful! I really ignited a campfire using only mana, this would be a ground-breaking discovery to others as they still used the primitive way of sparking a fire.

after a couple of hours of messing with earth magic and fire magic, I decided to try and manipulate the water mana in the air, and with my modern knowledge of condensing water vapor into a liquid I had succeeded after a couple of minutes, lastly, I decided to try what I have been wanting to do since I learned about magic and skills and that is... Flying! First, I manipulated the wind mana to accumulate around me and at first, all I felt was a breeze of wind so I decided to experiment on rocks around me and after a while I got the rocks to float in the air! after that success I was elated so I immediately tried to make my self float at first i kept failing but after a few hours I actually managed to float a couple of feet off the ground but after a minute I fell back down to the ground, while I was disappointed I didn't succeed to fly I cheered myself up by thinking about how after some practice I'll eventually be able to fly!

[Ding! Skills: have combined and evolved into ]

After I had gotten that notification I realized it became easier to use Elemental magic which made me even more hopeful about flying in the future, that's when I realized, "Shit It's already morning! jeez, I can't believe I spent all night practicing, I'm slowly becoming a magic fanatic, well maybe that's not a bad thing since I can extend my lifespan through magic, wait, system what is my lifespan right now?"

[Your lifespan is 300 years]

Wha- I thought it only went up 100 years each starting from bronze? and a human should only live from 80 - 100 so what's the meaning of this?!

[Since the host cultivates both the warrior path and mage path you gain that extra 100 each tier]

then what's stopping people from doing both and living twice the amount as someone on the same tier as them?

[The host is a special case, to the natives of this world you would be considered a miracle/genius that comes every 500 - 1000 years, to put it simply if your average person tried to do both they would end up killing themselves when they try to go into the bronze tier in both]

hmm, I see, so since I was not originally from this world and because of you I'm special and pretty much can consider myself a living cheat code. did I get that right?

[Yes]

Sigh, guess there's no complaining about it now, "let's get moving Ash maybe we can get there before the sun goes down."

(Next day)

"We should be there soon Ash, can you smell any scents that are off or any beast nearby?"

AHHH!

HELP!

WARRIORS FIGHT BACK!

"What's going on here!" once I reached the camp of the tribe I was horrified to see a wave of fire and dead bodies all over the place, after a few moments of looking around I found the attackers, and... they were Neanderthals! I thought after that encounter I had with them they wouldn't try their luck with the Penninsula but here they are, well I guess it was a matter of time considering this tribe camped near modern-day Reggio Calabria and all the neanderthals had to do was sail over here in makeshift rafts, whatever guess I'll just have to kill a couple of more Neanderthals, soon I'll make them pay for messing with me and my future villagers but first I should probably help this tribe out.

After I assessed the situation I gave Ash the order to go to the right and deal with any enemies over there while I'll go into the fire and put it out with magic. once I reached the center I started using water magic to put out the fires and I even found a couple of people trapped in their huts, once I got everyone to safety I went to the nearest sounds of fighting and pulled out my spear, as I was running towards the shouts and war cries a single Neanderthal jumped out to try and surprise attack me but he was only a low bronze tier so I disposed of him with fire magic and left.

ARGH!

BOOM!

ROAR!

"DIE, FILTHY INVADERS!"

once I reached the main area of fighting all I saw was a lone man riding on top of a cave lion with a mane that was fiery red and a jet black body with accents of red, while simultaneously fighting off a band of Neanderthals, it seemed like this warrior and his companion were perfectly in sync, first, he would slash at an enemy then the lion would finish him off with a swipe trailed with fire while the man found the next target, this type of teamwork was what I strove for with Ash.

while the man was fighting I saw a Neanderthal creep upon him and that's when I intervened by stabbing the assailant in the throat with my spear, when the man noticed this he had already risen his shield and what looked like a crude stone hatchet which I'm surprised it survived the battle.

"State your name and purpose!" he yelled

"I'm Shin Midnight, I came here to try and win the loyalty of this tribe and incorporate them into mine, but I see there is currently a battle going on, would you like my help?"

when I said I wanted to absorb the tribe the man looked a little agitated but after I offered assistance he hesitantly nodded and we left to kill the remaining intruders. After a couple of hours of battling, we managed to kill most of the enemies, while a few did escape we hoped they would send the message not to mess with us for now. once I had completely put out the fire with water magic I could see the man had a complicated expression while looking at me.

"Hey, kid, thank you for helping us but I don't know if the tribe will agree to join you and I'm sure that I'll have to fight you if you want to prove yourself, sure you have magic but I'm not sure we can still trust you." said the man

After he said that the man left to go and recover the tribespeople and have them all meet where I was, which at first surprised me because i didn't think he would be so calm about someone coming to their tribe to conquer it, especially after what just happened. while he was doing that I decided to look at his stats with

[Name: Victor]

[Affiliation: Beast Tribe(Chieftan)]

[Class: Beast warrior: a variant of monster tamer and warrior, a class who uses not only their own strength but can pull from their companion's strength and vise-versa]

[Title: Master of Beasts: given to those who have contracted with a beast who is as strong or stronger than themselves]

[Age: 48]

[peak bronze tier warrior]

[Affintiy: Fire]

[Species: Blue Fire lion(Hereditary)(Mutated)]

[Name: Azure]

[Strength: peak bronze tier]

[Age: 14]

[Inate talent: Blue fire - a kind of fire that burns hotter than normal flames. effects: From birth, the creature is able to use blue flames and basic fire magic, Fur that would be red normally is now fiery blue]

Damn! this dude is so powerful and his companion is too, and what is a mutation, doe it makes the lion stronger... Oh systeeemmm

[Ugh, Yes a mutation is a naturally occurring event that will either cause a difference in appearance powers or both as is the case with this lion and before you ask the hereditary mark is just as it states the lion's parents were both fire lions as well.]

I-I see you don't have to be rude about it.

[you know I can hear your thoughts right]

eek, did I really just eek. *Facepalm*

after that ordeal was over and the people had gathered the man, made an announcement saying I wanted to take control of the tribe and to my surprise, there wasn't much resistance which I'm guessing is because of how I saved most of these people so I thought this would go smoothly, that is, until a walking headache came.
