Chapter 6 - The Balance of Fates

Roger and John, seemingly unconnected, found their destinies inexplicably entwined by a single, mysterious event, the depths of which they had yet to fathom.

John, a native of Earth, lived in a society where power, money, and influence held sway. In this environment saturated with greed, he was an anomaly. Previously a beacon of innocence, recent events had cast a shadow over him. Despite consulting various experts to discern the cause of the nocturnal disruptions, no one had answers.

Given Earth's history, which lacked myths or evidence of magical phenomena, understanding John's peculiar situation was a challenge. Once the life of any party, John's current plight left him ostracized, distancing him from friendships and even forcing the cancellation of his impending engagement. The mayhem he inadvertently unleashed over the past weeks drove away even those closest to him.

Reduced to receiving necessities via drones, John was enveloped in isolation. In desperation, he attempted to end his suffering, fearing he'd become a danger to others. But every attempt was thwarted. Realizing an external force was at play, he was eventually exiled to a remote island, presumably for life.

Every action has a consequence, maintaining the cosmic balance. An event in one realm can ripple across universes and timelines. As Roger's two-decade long curse was lifted, John, in another universe and era, became its unwitting recipient. Both men, strikingly similar in appearance and pure-hearted, became pawns in a larger game.

"I believed this curse would either decimate this world or position me as its savior," a shadowy figure contemplated. "For a millennium, I've awaited the cosmic alignment, yet it seems my calculations were amiss. My aspirations for the world of Sunaru may remain unrealized. The energy of the curse can't simply vanish. Perhaps I need another decade to decipher this. But for now, I shall seek other diversions."

Unknown to Roger, he had been manipulated since birth by this enigmatic being. While he once lamented his isolated existence as a curse, the lifting of the true curse illuminated a different perspective. Maybe his solitude was a blessing in disguise.
