In Roger's world, technology was non-existent. Instead, magic held sway, enabling instantaneous transfers of goods and essentials across the vast universe. For two decades, Roger received his sustenance—food, clothing, and daily necessities—through these magical channels.
A universal magic, innate to all inhabitants, was the art of teleportation. It lay dormant within individuals until their first birthday, after which they could traverse vast distances without physical movement. There were, however, varying tiers to this magic, determining the extent one could teleport. While greater distance meant more potent magic, it also increased the risk of unintended destinations. Hence, from infancy until the age of 18, individuals underwent rigorous training to control this ability.
Roger, however, was an anomaly. Born with the curse of destruction, he activated his teleportation magic at birth. As a child with both the destruction curse and teleportation abilities, Roger was an inadvertent danger to those around him. To curtail any potential threat, his powers were sealed before he turned one. Unbeknownst to those who sealed him, this action intensified his curse. The suppressed teleportation energy bolstered his curse, leading to a tragic night when he inadvertently caused the death of his family. Consequently, like John, Roger was exiled to a remote island.
Fast forward to the present, a peculiar alignment occurred between John and Roger. Despite the vastness of space, time, and different universes separating them, a connection formed when John fell into a coma while Roger simultaneously slept. This synchronization unknowingly transferred Roger's destruction curse to John. In return, John's heightened caution and exceptional face-reading skills migrated to Roger's psyche.
However, an unforeseen power, unbeknownst to both, was also shared. This power's revelation could be a boon or a cataclysmic threat to every universe in existence.
While asleep, John and Roger could communicate, but in their waking hours, they remained oblivious to this subconscious bond and the exchange of abilities. Their ignorance might prove disastrous. To prevent impending doom, they must quickly learn to communicate consciously, lest the looming danger consume their worlds and everyone they cherish.
