Chapter 22 - Different Perceptions [3]

"I have something to discuss with you." With that, Gabriel told us to sit and at least listen to his words before killing him.

We did what he said.

"What did you want to tell us?" I asked with piercing angry eyes

"Lately, many leaders from other countries seek help and support for their actions, namely; something for war. Back in my prime, I was the famous Doom of Berfiucht, known for wealth and power, but as I end becoming weaker and older, my days are over." Gabriel looked out on the window.

"Suspiciously, even though people are aware of my power becoming weaker, letters were sent to ask for support and military power. I believe they seek war across the world, not only for them to rule the weak, but also challenging the Gods themselves." Gabriel continued.

There was a short silence.

"That's why, I want to at least spend my days peacefully, without anything revolving about war and my power." Gabriel looked at the open book on the table and glanced at us.

"Well, is that all of it?" The man asked Gabriel, quite insulting.

"Yes, I wanted to tell you, war is coming. You better watch out or else you won't make it out alive." Gabriel took a sip from the glass filled with beer.

"Don't worry, we already have information and strings to pull whenever that might happen. In other words, we are ready." I stood up and already positioned myself to stab him.

Again, with those emotions on his face, the sign of relief and happiness.

"I'm glad then." He smiled for the last time.

We headed out of the mansion and into the forest. The man was still following me.

"Um…Is there something wrong?" I asked him

"Nothing at all, this might also be the last time we will ever see each other again." The man puts his hand inside his coat pocket.

"Well then, what should we do?" I bluntly asked him.

"There's nothing you need to do for me honestly. It's a fact that this is goodbye." The man held his chest high

"It was a good ride kid. I hope you find peace." The man quickly waved goodbye and eventually disappeared within the forest.

I never got to say anything.

Well, he was right. It was such a good ride, I hate to admit it but, we really did a pretty good team.

-----

I continued to travel in the forest, looking for clues to where Scarlet and Frisk may have gone and captured.

I looked and looked and looked, but not a single trace has been left or seen.

I decided to continue walking in a distance; I saw a stone, a polished one. I got closer, it's a cemetery. I walked towards it and only few were buried here.

I checked the names engraved in the stone. Maria, Donald, Fritz, Amanda, James, and a blank stone.

"What are you doing here?" I heard a rasp deep voice from behind making me slide back.

"This isn't a place to rest."

It was Andre from the other division of the Deathbringers. Still smoking that cigarette and still wearing that large coat.

"Why are you here?" He let out a smoke he inhaled from the cigarette

"I was just passing by." I relaxed my body and acted normal.

"Really? Then a guy who is stench of blood arrives in a cemetery is something I should ignore?" He walked pass me and smoked his cigarette

I glanced at him, seeing him bend down and clean the grave stone with no name.

"Do you perhaps know the person who is buried there?" I slowly walked closer to him.

"I do not know anyone around this cemetery, nor this one I'm currently paying my respects on." He throws his cigarette and lights up a new one.

"Huh? Then why?" I asked, confused

"All the people buried here, are the people I have killed, and I have secretly buried, some people I know their names, and some I do not."

I figured that he might've regretted his actions or just asking for forgiveness to the poor souls.

"I'm sorry—"

"You didn't answer my question." Andre interrupted me and stood up

"Huh?" I raised a brow.

"Why are you here? What are you doing here?" He came closer, step by step.

"A mission. That's what I'm here for." I replied

"Probably orders from Shishio right? To take down Gabriel Fabiano?" Andre lets out a smoke.

"Yeah. You're absolutely right."

To my surprise Andre laughed.

"That guy still haven't taken his hands off the prize huh? Bastard." Andre throws the cigarette away.

"Listen, Shishio is a very dangerous man. He can turn his back on you anytime, and right now, he's using you as his puppet for his plans." Andre glared at me.

"I am aware that he's using me but, it is the only way that I can find my companions" I responded.

"Very well. Your decision kiddo. Your choices are the mere spear that can lead you to anything but a curse whatever choice you make it always seems like a bad decision." Andre lit another cigarette

"Isn't there anything that you could help me?" I asked him

"Help 'you'?" Andre looked dead serious for a moment, even though he looks serious all the time.

"The things Shishio has done has greatly impacted your life and your companions. But he is somewhat eccentric and charismatic. That way you can use his charms to use other people." Andre lets out a smoke.

"So you're telling me to use him in return?" I asked

"Yeah. That's basically it" Andre looked down.

There was silence between us and our conversations. Making the sound of the forest clear.

The rustles of the bushes were heard. Someone—no, a group of people is currently surrounding us right now.

"You piece of shi—"

Someone lunges out from the bush and swung his arms, attempting to slice me

"If you attack, keep your mouth shut." I gripped his mouth and with my nails, I slowly scratched his face. Piercing his skin, blood dripped out of the surface

"Mmph!!—"

I plunged him to the ground and sliced his neck.

"This would be the perfect time." I looked towards the bushes and a huge number of guards ran forward with their weapons ready to harm us.

"I guess Robert G'iere has many loyal followers huh." Andre threw the cigarette away

"I should help out." Andre walked towards the running guards and perfectly killed all of them with just his fists.

One, with just a dodge and a punch on the neck, the other; with a kick on the head and breaking the neck.

He's a skilled assassin alright.

I took out my dagger and proceeded to slice the enemies. One by one their limbs were torn apart, intestines falling out and necks sliced away.

The guards were no match for us. Apparently, Andre has done a lot of work than me, killing most of the men with just his fists. Honestly, where do they get such high skill?

"Training." Andre takes out another cigarette

"Huh?"

"Proper training is all you need." Andre continues to smoke

"Thank you for helping me out." I managed to talk out my thoughts

"It is no matter." Andre just walked casually and slowly, every step revealing great strength and power.

"Um, is there any way you can help me find my companions?" I furrowed my eyebrows

Andre glanced back at me with a blank expression.

"Go to the east of Berfiucht, Logimorica, find Matthew Holmes." He turned his back and walked away.

Matthew Holmes? Does he have any relations from Robert?

I furrowed my eyebrows, why did he tell me to go find Matthew Holmes? Is it someone with great power?

"Why do you want me to find him?" Despite Andre being far away, I shouted those words so he can hear. He never turned back but instead he waved his hands to say goodbye.

Damnit, I was never satisfied of that kind of answer. Makes me want to look for him to find out the truth.

But now I have a location, a clue to where my companions are being held. At the East, Logimorica, home of champions, the prosperity and low percentage of poverty.

That place seems like heaven for all of people, but if the country is known for being peaceful doesn't mean the people there are kind and gentle, there would also be dark and mischievous.

I decided to head to Logimorica, the East of Berfiucht.

I am going to find traces and information about Matthew Holmes, and look for my companions.

I ran east, but something caught my eye.

Blood dripping on one tree. Something is written on it.

I walked closer to see more clearly. I furrowed my eyebrows once I had read the passage.

"Come, come, light up the fire that burns your hatred and rage for humanity."
