"War?" I inquired. According to the history books I've read in the house, the "Great Race Wars" has already ended with The hero banishing the oppositions to the other continent. Other than that, there are the outer gods Velxia talked about, but those seem to be in the gods' control.
If it wasn't, then for beings that vary in size from a meteorite to a sun, wouldn't we be seeing them even from here in this secluded mountain?
Master's eyes shut closed as he reminisced about the war. Apparently, the demons and the Beastias didn't succumb to their innate will, but instead became susceptible to it, as if it was a sickness. However, humans and elves generalized this excuse for both the Demons and the Beastias, and used that opportunity to rid of them
Master wasn't really in for it against fighting the two races, but since he also feared for his life like every other human, they decided to fight back. Although they ultimately came out on top, the pain and agony of the memories in which they fought against the other two races haunted him. Thus, he moved somewhere peaceful and found himself here at Bluoir.
However, it seems that even if they were able to fight off against the demons and beastias, the two races still carried a grudge against both elves and humans, resulting in a cycle of hate. Astesia, as a potentially powerful beastmaster, will inevitably become a weapon that the humans and elves will try to use to fight back against the demons and beastias.
I stared wide-eyed at the person beside me. For a knight captain of nobility to live in such a secluded area on the far side of the continent, I knew he had a story. But I guess his exterior personality was able to mask the true story behind his eyes.
What he basically said is that a war is on the horizon, and it might even be happening right now.
Remembering the count's words, " the world is freer than you think," made me feel as if I somehow lost a bet in this second life. I have heard of executions from festivals and ceremonies, but I've never really seen them for myself. If that's the case, then that world would be more peaceful than this world.
If I could protect those who I grew close to, then that at least would make up for the cruelty this world may present in the future. Thinking back, I wondered if I could have understood these thoughts myself when I was a prince, and the answer would probably be a resounding 'No.'
Resting my neck on the upper backrest of the bench, I began contemplating such thoughts, "To protect something, sacrifices are inevitable, huh," I muttered to master, sitting beside me.
"That is true," he responded in a soft tone, "Hey brat, I've been meaning to ask, but are you really a kid?" Master eyed me curiously before asking, but unlike his usual exterior, he seemed calmer with his words.
Am I a kid? I asked myself. It's true that I am in the body of a child, but why would master ask such a question? White's memories don't have memories of this guy, and only tidbits of information regarding him from Kayla. I myself have always acted thoughtfully even when I was a child, and the same could be said for White.
But I guess it's because of this way of thinking that master asked me such a question. "I am a child," I answered, "but I'm definitely not a brat."
Master looked surprised by my response, but he then chuckled before giving out a small smile. "So, I take it you don't like being called a brat then?" he asked.
"If possible, call me White," I responded. Truth be told, even if I was initially annoyed by someone calling me a brat, I eventually grew used to it over these last months. But it would still be nice if he can just call me by name.
"White it is, then." Master stood up and tilted his head. "Oh right, I heard from the griffin that you were traveling to a different reality," he inquired in a friendly manner, "just so you know, some world travelers talked about how excruciating their travels were going to different worlds, and that's just traveling between dimensions to different worlds."
"So expect traveling to a different reality to be more... grueling to say the least," he said before walking back inside their house to check on Kayla. I was surprised by the words that came out of his mouth. Although the mention of suffering from traveling between realities, which Velxia didn't even tell me, caught me by surprise, he also talked about world travelers.
If that's the case, then there are more of those like me? I thought of asking more about that in detail, but master was already inside the house. Thinking that I should at least give him and his daughter some space, I reserved my questioning for later.
At the same time, Velxia walked towards me, his eyes gazed upon where master had left. "Must be a pain for that man," he commented. "Whose fault do you think that is?" I asked, keeping my tone inoffensive.
"Well, certainly not mine," he responded before letting out a small chuckle. Although it was his fault that all of these events happened, it wasn't like he desired it to happen. Holding a grudge or any judgemental attitude towards him would just be being petty.
Though it does kind of sting when he denies it bluntly. "By the way, I've heard traveling between realities is a gruesome experience. How come you never mentioned that?" I inquired, my lips smiling, but my eyes deadlock on his.
Velxia flinched before stutteringly gave out his reply, "W-what ever do you mean?" His eyes shifted to either side, but I followed them through, not letting him escape.
"Well, I-I don't really know," he said as he cleared his throat, "since I traveled to this reality with only my mind and ego, there wasn't a physical body that felt pain. If anything, it just felt like it was stretching and slightly nauseating, before returning to its original state when I arrived here."
I see, that does make sense. If you don't have a body, then how can you even feel something, to begin with. Letting out a sigh, I asked Velxia about the other world travelers master mentioned.
Apparently, not only reality can have those fissures, but also dimensions within that reality, which basically allowed those otherworlders to become world travelers who gain abilities through exposure to those dimensional fissures. Some even die and reincarnate through infinity, causing them to be exposed to infinite energy and turning them into extremely powerful beings.
Of course, their powers would only extend to their dimensions and not other dimensions within that reality. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing, as if they become more powerful, it is possible to extend their world's reality range to the abyssal reality, which may end their dimension.
If that's the case, would that mean I, as a future reality traveler, could gain even a more powerful ability? "Hey Velxia," I called his attention, "would that mean I could potentially gain more abilities through exposure from the reality fissures?"
"It is possible," He responded, "but it's also possible that you don't since your body already has the essence of all of creation."
"If I did, does that mean it would increase our world's reality ranges?" I asked a vital question since I personally wouldn't want to make all of this even more complicated than it already is.
"You don't have to worry about that," he says with an expression of confidence I wouldn't have thought I'd see in a bird-head, "Dorr Valia already bypassed the Abyssal reality, meaning that our world already reached Infinite reality."
