Chapter 27 - Chapter 26

Reality is the fabric of space that surrounds everything we can perceive, but the fabric of space isn't as thin that only a singular dimension can exist in that reality. If my understanding is correct, then each reality has a lot of dimensions, In which the dimensional counterpart of this world to the celestial reality is 'dangerous.' Although I don't know how Velxia perceived things as 'dangerous,' I'm not taking any chances.

"Then did you cross the realities from this world's counterpart?" It wasn't me, but Astesia who asked the question. Although she is younger than Kayla, she seems to be keener. Kayla, on the other hand, was just watching us and didn't seem like she could follow up.

Velxia pondered for a while before answering, "Well, long story short, I was summoned," he answered, "that way, it didn't matter if I was in a different place from the counterpart of this area."

I wondered about that summoning and thought of asking Velxia whether he's talking about something like a 'call from a master,' but before I could open my mouth, Velxia turned serious. "Apologies, but I cannot state why or who summoned me. All you need to know is that I am now the guardian of this forest."

If Velxia doesn't want to talk about it, then nothing is really gained or lost from that. It's not like I can force him to talk after such a plea. "Well, it's fine," I responded, "since this doesn't have anything to do with my travels anyways."

Velxia nodded with a soft smile. "Then, shall we?" Velxia asked, but I didn't have an idea what he's referring to. Tilting my head, I asked what he's talking about, "What do you mean?" At my question, Velxia sighed as he made me remember.

"My essence," he said, "didn't I tell you I'd give it to you?" So that's what he meant. "Wait, isn't it too early?" He did say 'as soon as possible,' but I assumed that's like a week or two.

"I heard from your grandfather that you haven't really been training your magic," Velxia said, "and from what I saw, all you were doing is releasing attributed magic." So that's what he means. It's true that I'm only releasing the magic from my body, but according to the books I've read, there are many more ways to use one's magic.

I remembered when I first started transforming the excess mana to attributed magic. It was hard. So much so that it wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for my body already used to mana circulation, but even that only resulted in me being able to release attributed magic.

So if my understanding is correct, he wants to give me his essence early, so that I would have the time to integrate with it.

"So, you want to give me time to get used to your ability then?" I asked in confirmation. "You catch on fast, kid," he affirmed with a smirk. "Other than that, I want to see more about your magic," he then followed up.

Although I thought it was suspicious, I let it be as it would also be beneficial for me. "Okay. I get it, but how do I exactly receive it?" Giving someone their own power isn't even written in the books I have read in this world, but if I form a hypothesis, it's like giving another person your crux.

Well, that's assuming I convert what Velxia said to the logic of this reality. If celestial beings have their own way, then I guess it wouldn't be that questionable after everything I learned so far. Velxia's eyes illuminated again, but this time, it was different.

At that moment, my mind got separated from my body and was left to look at my unconscious body falling to the ground along with Velxia's. As I surveyed around, the colors of the environment looked cooler, but it feels like I wouldn't have noticed that if I didn't try to properly observe my surroundings.

I shifted my gaze towards Kayla and Astesia, who looked surprised by our sudden fall, but Kayla seems to be more composed this time as she focused on calming down Astesia. "Did you pull my mind out of my body?" I asked Velxia who was beside me, who is also in a personified illusion of his mind.

"You don't seem too surprised about it though, Why's that?" I was pretty surprised about it, but I guess I was a little too surprised that I just considered this to be something I need to be used to. Thinking of such, I just gave Velxia a smile as I asked him for more details.

"How were you exactly able to do that?" I asked. "I just took a part of your mind, and threw it into this pocket dimension between material and celestial reality," he says as if it's the most natural thing to do.

"Now, I'm surprised," I looked at Velxia with wide eyes. I don't know if this is something all celestial beings can do, but it certainly is too darn amazing. "But!" Velxia exclaimed, "We can't keep this conversation longer since It's hard just to maintain this pocket dimension."

At that moment, Velxia's illusionary body transformed into particles of light with different colors. The particles then scattered around before bursting into a white light that shone on me from different directions. I saw the lights penetrate my entirety like I was paper, but there was no pain, nor was there any pleasure.

It was as if my sense of touch had been taken away from me.

Soon after, I was snapped back to the material reality in a blink of an eye. Opening my eyes, Kayla was shouting something, but I couldn't hear anything other than the deafening ringing of my head from the lights that penetrated me.

Slowly, I sat up then I shifted my attention to Velxia who looked intoxicated. The ringing slowly went away, and I was able to hear Kayla. "White? Are you okay? You look pale," She asks in a worried tone, but still decided to remain composed.

I touched my cheeks to see whether I could feel again. I already knew deep down that I was back in the material world, but I just couldn't help but do so after experiencing such a thing. My fingers brushed on my cheeks as I felt the sensation of touch once more.

"So? How'd it feel?" Velxia asks after shaking his head, returning to his usual self. "It felt... Empty," I answered as such. I couldn't describe how I felt, but it's probably because I couldn't feel anything that I couldn't describe it.

"I guess that's why even you guys still prefer the material world, yes?" Letting out a deep breath, I asked Velxia. But it was more of a comment, as I stated a fact that I already knew. "That is true," he answered with a smile of satisfaction.

"Is that how I'll feel when I go there?" I asked. Honestly, I don't want to feel something like that again. "Well, since the counterpart of this world to the celestial reality is, like I said, dangerous, it's only natural for you to feel like that even if it was only a pocket dimension between the realities."

"But don't worry. Since your going there with your material body intact, you should be fine," Velxia explained. "Then why didn't you take my body along to that pocket dimension?" I asked. If Velxia can open pocket dimensions and even fissures to reality that literally brought a monstrosity to this world, why wouldn't he just bring me over as well?

Catching on to what I was thinking Velxia responded after giving out an exhausted sigh, "With my power, it's hard enough to open those dimensions, much more bring you with me," he says, "besides, if I brought your material body over, you would have died while taking in my abilities."

I see, then I guess he has a point. "Now then, try using your ice once more," Velxia commanded me as his expression turned from exhaustion to a spirited one. I found it weird that he acts that way, but I guess he is kind of a scientist at heart or something like that.

I opened my palm and carefully released my attributed magic in a small amount, but instead, a blue inferno suddenly engulfed my hand. The air around began to feel chilly as the air around my blue flames turned into winter winds, and as if the air itself is flammable, even the air began to burn in blue flames, staying afloat in the air as I waved my hand.

What felt even more amazing is that the recoil towards my body felt slow, as if I was only expelling a tiny speck of flame. "White, that's enough!" Velxia's panicky voice brought my attention back.

I thought he did so because Kayla and Astesia were scared, but to my surprise, they were admiring my magic like the night sky with glittering eyes, while Velxia was stopping them from getting close.

Suppressing my mana, I stopped the release of my attributed magic. "That was amazing," I murmured. "Of course it was," Velxia smugly says after composing himself, "but you still seem to lack control."

That's true, I only intended to release a small flame, but it seems it just burned the wind and grew bigger. How was that even possible, I asked myself. Velxia just grinned as he stared at my hands, "It seems we still have a lot to do."
