°Nik's POV°

"Are you going somewhere?" She asked.

"Yes sweetheart. Call me if you need anything." I made my way to the garage.

As I drove out of the mansion I looked up from the windshield and saw Madelaine looking at my car from the balcony. Were those tears? Cazzo, what did I do now?

°Madelaine's POV°

I texted Daisy and asked if I could meet with her and she replied with a 'yes, meet me at our usual cafe.'

So now I'm putting on black sunglasses with a golden rim and adjusted my shirt before entering the cafe.

I looked around and chose the most deserted place and started ordering my drink while waiting for Dai. I made sure my glasses were covering my now swollen eyes from all the crying I did.

I breakdown sometimes, but this is not one of those times. The cafe door opened and I look up after a few seconds. "Hey, cutie-pie, what's cooking?" Daisy greeted energetically.

"Hey Dai." My voice came out rough. I coughed repeatedly to get rid of it.

"Who?" She asked, squinting her eyes ready to start a war.

"My dad... he- is d-dead." I swallowed the lump in my throat and bit back my tears.

"Oh. I thought somebody hurts you. Good then, did you order already?" She continued without any hint of sympathy in her voice.

"I- did. Why are you so calm? Did you know about this too?" I stopped myself from getting angry for the second time today. My mom hid it from me then decided today was a good time to tell me after he died a long time ago.

"What? No, I definitely wasn't expecting that and I didn't know anything about this so calm your tits. Also what's the big deal, he was going to die in my hands anyway." She said while pointing out her order to the waiter who's eyes are as wide as the moon.

After ordering she turned to me "He was going to kill you! Wake the hell up lady."

"But he's my dad!" I tried making a point.

"I'm sorry honey that he's dead. Let's dig up his grave and see if he plans to come out anytime soon and we'll do a welcome home party. I know he's dead Mads, but the point is, you don't have to be afraid of him anymore. He kept on abusing you and you know he was never gonna stop. I know it hurts, he's your dad after all. Look around, every day people die! Also, I hated him with my whole damn being."

"I don't even know why I cried, I hated him so much. Maybe the news was just so sudden." I sipped my drink.

"Maybe, you've been a moody bitch too. Did you buy a pregnancy test? Maybe there's popcorn in the microwave." She winked.

"Why would you think that?" I raised an eyebrow at her.

"Oh you know, because of all the sex you've had with my dear brother." When she said that I choked.

"How did you- that was not me!" I defended.

"Really? I saw your underwear in the morning hanging on his doorknob.

"What!? Which- wait, how did you even know it was mine or not?"

"It's not important how I know..." She looked away before smirking. Creep. "Go take a popcorn test."

"Later I will," I told her.

"So, what's new?" She gulped down her drink before sighing.

"Nothing, you?"

"Well, don't judge me but I'm back-with-my-ex-West." She rapped. "Ok, you can judge me."

"Uh, good?"

"No it's fucking not, he's such a pervert but he's just so good in bed you know. But like he's a jerk sometimes too and I just wanna choke him with a peanut." She rambled.

"Did you do it?" I asked as she smiled mischievously.

"You bet."

After chatting and catching up with each other I decided to go back to the mansion before the sunsets. I got in my room and decided to take a bubbly bath.

I drained the water after and wrapped myself with a towel. I walked into the giant walk-in closet and picked a baby blue hoodie with white shorts.

"Miss Key, dinner is ready." Kisha, the maid said from outside the room.

"Thank you, Kisha I'll be down in a while." I grabbed my phone and texted Brandon since he's now back in his house because he was kicked out. Just kidding. He needed to go back because his mom was complaining about how he was never home, so he wanted to be a good boy and just stay with his mom until she's bored of him.

Mom's still staying at her friend's house and she seemed pretty calm when I told her I was staying with Nik. A stranger! Also, we were on good terms until she confessed about dad. She apologized for keeping it from me. Nobody knew he would die so suddenly. She said he was cremated.

I was relieved he is out of my life for good but sad at the same time, the memories from before played repeatedly in my head. He was a good guy. I trusted that everyone is a good person.

Until he started abusing me physically and mentally. I thought all men were the same, even my ex-boyfriends.

I haven't met anyone so nice before Nik. He was nice, busy most of the time. A caring soul. But I had my doubts about nice people. They either want something from me or they are just nice out of kindness. Which is very rare.

I decided to stop overthinking because it's the deadliest disease and could cause me to have a second mental breakdown today.

I got rid of any thoughts from my head by organizing my things, the bed, even as far as playing chess on my own.

"Miss Key?" Oh, shoot. I forgot about dinner.

"Uh, yeah. I'm coming." I got up from the bed and made my way to the dining room. There were a lot of people going in and coming out of the other room.

"Were you sleeping?" Nik asked handing me a plate.

"Thanks, no I wasn't." I took a seat opposite of him. We ate in silence before I asked. "What is that room?"

"Dining room. We all eat together in there, it's really crowded and it could be uncomfortable for you so we both eat here." He replied.

"Oh, ok." I didn't question much afraid it might be too personal. It's been a few days since I lived here. I saw a lot of men in suits daily but I didn't question him about them. Plus we're not that close, we only kissed once. That's all. Maybe it's a secret organization. He could be a secret agent. Yeah.

After dinner, we both sat next to each other in the living room on the giant couch watching tv. There were a few men too but we acted like we were all invisible. Five girls came into the room after a while and greeted everyone before sitting down on the men's lap.

"Hey, Fres! Pass me the brownies." The blonde girl said to a guy in a sweater. The man handed her the brownies and sat back down on the other couch beside ours.

"Fuck I needed this." The girl moaned. Her eyes were light brown and they locked with mine. "Don, you want some?" Or maybe not. Nik shook his head so the girl shrugged and she averted her gaze at me. "Hey, you new?"

"Hmm?" Confused I looked around, everyone was looking at me except Nik.

"It's fine we're the same so don't be ashame of yourself." She smiled and handed the brownies to the other girls.

"She's not the same," Nik said glaring at her.

"Then what is she doing here?" The blonde girl asked as her eyes turned red. Is she a vamp?

"Mind your own business," Nik replied with a bored tone. They were still passing the brownies until it reached me so I took one and handed the rest to Nik. I took the first bite and boom! It was so addictive.

Nik put the plate on the table without tasting one. "Laine, stop eating." He ordered me.

"Why? It's really nice. Whoever made this is a genius!" I said loudly as the girls laughed. The blonde girl stared at me and smirked. Creepy ass bitch. "Here take a bite!" I shoved the brownies to his face when everybody was busy laughing at their conversation.

He looked at me with a blank face before taking a tiny bite. I beamed at him and he shook his head in disbelief. I took more brownies stacking them in my hands barely able to hold more. Out of the blue, Nik said, "I hope you know they're weed brownies." Well, fuck me.
