°Madelaine's POV°

"Here comes the king," Posie said.

"How did you guys know each other?" Ellie asked me.

"We met through a friend." A deep voice said. I felt his presence, it was warm, dark, and hypnotizing. "Ciao bebè." He whispered.

°Nik's POV°

The girls walked away winking at her.

"Can I talk to you, Tesoro?" I discreetly kissed the back of her neck and she shivered. (Sweetheart)

"Sure." She looked at me with those seductive eyes.

I extended my hand for her to take, she took it and we went downstairs to a quiet hall. "I have some information regarding the person who's stalking you. We could talk about it later if you'd like."

She inhaled a sharp breath and said, "I want to know." She fidgeted with her hands as they shook slightly.

"Come on." I looked around the hall before I led her to my room.

Closing the door I grabbed the file on my bedside table and spread them out on my bed. "This is him, the stalker. Do you know him?"

All of a sudden, she fell on her knees with her breathing ragged. "Cara." (Darling)

"No..." She whimpered as she broke down on the floor. "No, no" I went down on my knees to hug her.

"Bebè, shhh, you're safe." I brushed her hair away from her face and held her face in my hands. "Talk to me, who is he?" I asked softly. She was shaking.

"Please don't, I don't want to see him, I don't want to meet him." She backed away from me. "I need to go, he can't find me." She began to run out of the room.

"Laine!" I called as I knocked on her bedroom door. "Laine, talk to me." She opened the door after a few seconds with her things packed. "Laine, stop! You're safe here. I promise you'll be safe!" I stopped her from walking away. "Look at me!" I held her face. "Laine," She looked at me this time with eyes full of fear. "Talk to me sweetheart, hmm?" She sniffed softly and sighed.

"It's time for me to go. I can't let him find me. Please!" She begged.

"Laine, who is he?"

"It's complicated, he's my ex. He's- he's dangerous. Please, I don't want you to be involved. Let me go.." She swayed slightly.

"I can help you, Laine. No matter how dangerous he is." I spoke with a serious tone this time. "What did he do?"

"He just- we broke up on bad terms. He was bad, very bad. Remember that time we met at a hotel? It's him. He did that to me. Now please.." She slipped from my hands and ran down the stairs.

"Close all the exits," I ordered the security team through an intercom.

Laine tried to open the door and paced around like a madwoman.

"Laine come here." She walked to me.

"Why is the door locked? I need to go."

"Come here." I dragged her across the hall to the kitchen and poured her a glass of water. I watched her gulped it down in one go. "Breathe Laine, breathe."

She breathed in and out and then continued pacing again. I held her hand and stopped her. "I'll catch him and I'll make sure he regrets what he did to you. So you don't have to be afraid anymore." I wiped her tears. "I promise. You have my word." She hugged me, tight.

"I don't know what to do, I'm so lost." She sniffed and let go of me.

"Do you want to talk about it? Rant to me baby." Drawing circles on her waist as she held my hand.

"It's time I talk about it with someone. I hope you don't mind." I nodded reassuringly.

We were now in her bedroom as she told me what happened all those years ago. Velix Rain, a mafia member of the Lenox family. He abused her. She knew he was in the mafia when she asked for a break up he went ball sack crazy. He caged her like a prisoner.

~Flashback~

That night at the hotel, he raped her. I remember now. The voices that I heard, the loud noises that disturbed the whole floor.

I knew something was wrong in that room that night, that was why I barged in.

I saw a girl laying on the floor with blood surrounding her, bruises and scars all over her body, fresh bloody wounds on her neck, she was naked.

All the things inside the room were smashed into pieces. Before Velix could smash the vase on her head I smashed it in his. That time I didn't know who he was, but he knew me. He ran away after taking one look at my face.

I wrapped the girl up in a blanket and called a private number.

She was admitted to a private hospital then, I called her family but none of them answer. My doctor said it would be best for her to stay here since she was badly injured.

The next day, I visited her when she was still unconscious. Her raven hair was all tangled up. I didn't take a good look at her that day, since her face was badly bruised and for the most part, they were covered with bandages.

The doctor informed me she woke up a week later and that it was miraculous she survived. She also left me something. A vintage ring that costs more than 1000 bucks. In a letter, she wrote,

For: Diavolo, my hero :)

'I really appreciate your help. Please accept my little gift as a thank you. I will pay you back one day.'

Love, Maddie <3

That was the first time I saved a life.

All I ever did was kill people, take their lives, send their souls back to hell. But this time it was different, the news that I actually saved someone sounded so foreign to my ears. I was happy.

~End of Flashback~

I still kept that letter with me and the ring that I wore was from her. I remember now. Finally.

I had that girl on my mind until last night when I dreamt of Madelaine. She reminded me of the girl. Then I connected the dot and found more information from that night. I had my doubts it was her. I just can't seem to remember until the dream. Thank the devil.

"I remember," I told her after she finished telling me her story.

"What?" She asked, confused.

"I remember you. The ring, the letter." She smiled contently.

"I have something for you, wait here." She ran to her closet and started rummaging through her stuff. She walked out with a wrapped gift in her hand. "Here," She handed it to me, signaling for me to open it.

I ripped the wrapper of the velvet box and opened it. "This is beautiful," I told her as she smiled.

"Happy birthday." She kissed me on the cheek and sat down on the bed. "Do you like it?" She blushed.

"Of course, I've been wanting to buy this since the first time I saw it. I just didn't have time to." I eyed the ring with admiration. I put it on my left index finger and showed it to her.

"Perfect." She whispered. "Oh, you should go back to the party. It's almost 12" She looked at the clock.

"I don't want to. I'll stay here with you. Are you ok?"

"Yeah I am, don't worry about me I won't go anywhere so you can enjoy your party don't let me ruin it." She fell back on the bed.

"Come on," I held her hand tugging her to get up. "I need you there," I mumbled under my breath.

"Fine. But I have one last question." She pointed.

"Shoot."

"Do you know where he is now?" She searched my eyes for an answer.

"He's somewhere in town. He won't find us." I reassured her and brushed her hair back.

When it reached 12 everyone wished me a happy birthday, I cut the cake, made a wish or whatever, and gulped down the champagne.

"Enjoy ladies and gentlemen." With that, I went back to her by the telescope. "What are you doing?"

"Looking at the thunder." She zoomed the telescope in and shifted for me to see.

"Wow."

"I know right. I love watching them rumbled it was just so satisfying and cool." She put her hand in the scope and played with it.

"Do you want some cake?" I took a glance at the cake that was not gone.

"I'm good." She laughed and sipped her drink. "Did you ever thought of becoming a stripper?" She asked.

"No, why?"

"I did." She smirked and combed her hair back with her fingers. "I think it would be fun."

"Hmm, maybe." I thought of it before in the shower. But it was the weirdest thought I've had.

"Hey!" Ken sat down beside her and winked.

"Hi." She said sheepishly.

"So, how old are you?" Ken asked touching her hair. I glared at him and he put his hand away.

"Too young for you," I replied. He rolled his eyes.

"What do you do?"

"She's a student."

"I'm asking her Don."

"And?"

"And, and, nothing." He sighed then went back to his mates.

"Are you jealous?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.

"No," I looked away and pressed a button.

"Woah. How'd you do that?" She looked up at the now exposed sky.

"This button." I showed her and she nodded.

"Interesting. Have you dated anyone?"

"A few. Why?" She shrugged.

"No reason. Have you dated a man before?" She looked at me seriously.

"No!"

"Shit don't get mad. It was just a question." She smiled widely.

"Sorry."

"It's fine. I've dated women before." She said shocking me.

"You're-"

"I'm bi." She shook her head and laughed. "Surprising huh?"

"Yeah." Fuck the world.

"You okay?" She bumped my arms.

"Huh? Yeah." I nodded.

"Why'd you zoned out like that?"

"No reason." She then nodded and gave me a lopsided smile.

"You're beautiful." I blurted.

"You're handsome." She replied.

She looked at me with her doe eyes, she's so fucking perfect.

"Can I kiss you?" She asked abruptly.

"Yes." She got up from the chair and kissed me on the lips.

I kissed her back with so much passion. She tasted sweet. Brushing my hair with her fingers she pulled me down to her height and continued kissing me.

I really didn't care who saw us, as long as she's by my side, everything is great.

"Babe! What are you doing with this whore? Get off of him you bitch!" Tyra screamed and yanked Laine back by her hair.

I gritted my teeth and glared at her. She crossed her arms and stood her ground looking up at me.

She is going to pay for it.
