"Did you plant the device on him?"
"We did, but he destroyed it, sir."
"All of them?"
"All of them sir." Romano breathed out.
"I want you all to work on plan b."
"Laine, who told you about me killing your dad?"
"I overheard Veronica and her minions talking."
She's up to something, I just have to find out what.

°Madelaine's POV°
Three days later|
"Hi, honey." My mom sat opposite me in the cafe we always go to together.
"Hi, mama. How are you?" I wanted her to know about dad. But it got me thinking if I should tell her about what happened. My heart was beating really hard. Will Nik kill me if I tell my mom?
"I'm good Mads. You're still living in that boy's house, right?" I nodded. "Good, stay there, I know he will protect you. If there is anything that you need just tell me ok?" Again I nodded, shaking internally. Should I tell her or not? "Let me order something." I nodded and she scanned the menu. "Would you like to eat this?" Mom pointed her finger at the picture on the menu and I nodded. "What about this?" I nodded. "And this?" I nodded. "Ok Mads, tell me what happened." She closed the menu and put it aside.
"N- Nothing happened." I fiddled with the necklace I wore.
"Mads, are you sick?" Mom looked at me with concern.
"What? no!" I exclaimed way too loudly.
"Uh-huh." She stood from her seat and walked to me.
"I- uh- I gotta go, I'll see you soon mama. I love you. Tell Carson I say hi."
"How did you know about Cars-"
I ran out of the cafe and stopped in an alley. My whole body was trembling like crazy. The walls were closing in on me, the ground was moving. Fuck, I felt dizzy. "Woah." I held onto the wall when I lost my balance. I didn't feel good. I threw up.
♪
I stuck my hands to the wall as I walk to my bedroom.
"Miss Key? Are you ok? Let me help." One of the maids said, dashing towards me.
"No- I'm fine. Go back to your work Tara, I don't want you to get in trouble."
"Please let me help." She insisted.
"Ok then, thank you, Tara."
"Of course." Tara helped me all the way to my room. "Have you had your medicine, Miss Key? You look really pale."
"I did." I lied. I didn't take the medicine today, it made me feel worse than I felt right now. I've been puking a lot and felt dizzy constantly. I think something might be wrong with me. "Thank you, Tara, don't tell anyone about this please." She muttered an 'of course' and went back to work.
A few minutes later and here I am, sitting in front of Nik in his office. He watched me with his eyes that hold worry and guilt, he's been like this since that day, when I found out he killed the man I called father.
"I'm sorry." I finally spoke up.
"Why baby?" He softly asked.
"Uh, because..." I scratched my neck awkwardly.
"You shouldn't be. How's your mother?" He put his arms on his lap.
"She's good." I took a quick peep at him then shifted my gaze down on my lap.
"Look at me, baby." He leaned in.
I looked at him. He smiled. Ok, that was not worrisome.
It totally is.
"Did you know I assigned bodyguards for you?" He stood from the sofa and walked to his desk.
"Yes- wait, what?! You- why?" I stuttered.
"It's for your safety Laine and they didn't come back. None of them. So I'm afraid, he's here. Near." He said seriously and placed a paper on the coffee table in front of me. It was a picture full of blood.
"What's this?" I shuddered as I took the paper and looked closer.
"The bodyguards. They died, and their body was dragged to a secluded place." He collected the paper from my hands and put them inside an envelope, tossing them to the side. "Baby, I don't want to put you in danger. This is why from now on anywhere that you go, take me with you."
"But I can protect myself." I took out a pocket knife from my back pocket.
"Where did you get that?" Nik asked with wide eyes snatching the knife from me.
"I bought them after I watched too many action movies." I shied away. "I'm gonna be very careful with it. I promise."
"Ok, here." He handed it back to me and I quickly kept it back inside my pocket. "I need you to be safe, you don't know what he's capable of baby."
"I know, I don't want you involved in this Nik. I know you can handle him, but I don't want you to. It started with me and it will end with me." He kneeled beside me and took my face and squished them.
"Don't say that!" I could see the panic in his eyes.
"Oh, no, I don't mean like 'end'. I mean 'end'." Did that make sense? I hope so.
"Come on, let's have dinner." We intertwined our hands and walked down the stairs to the dining room.
"Can I cook?"
"No." He said way too fast.
I stared at him in unbelieve. "Is that your way of saying you don't like my cooking?"
"Of course not, I love your cooking. It's just, you're injured. You shouldn't even be moving." He rolled his eyes.
"Right." I rolled mine.
He rolled his.
I rolled mine.
"Fine. But I'll help." He sighed.
"You know how to cook?" I asked, shocked.
"Is that your way of saying I don't know how to cook?" He used my words.
"Yes." I confirmed.
"Fuck off." He rolled his eyes.
"You first." I rolled my eyes.

Having a staring contest is fun but not with your opponent being a stubborn bitch and won't let you win.
"I'm good at this." I challenged.
"Really?" He smirked annoyingly.
"Yes." I squinted.
"You're tearing up." He stated the obvious.
"So? I won't lose." I almost blinked my tears away but refrained from doing so.
"The food's getting cold." He took the fork in his hand not tearing his gaze from mine.
"I know, just give up already, I'm hungry." I fanned my eyes.
"Ok." He finally blinked. "Buon appetito bebè." He took a bite.
"Bon appetit!" I rubbed my eye and enjoyed the food.

"I know, I'm sorry. I'll try to be there tomorrow." I reasoned with my calculus teacher.
"You better be. We're going to have an exam soon and if you keep being a lazy student and missed all my class. I'm going to have to call your mother and have you transferred." Said Ms. Prime.
"I understand Ms. Prime." She hung up and I sighed, throwing the phone in the air and catching it. I tossed it to the bed but it slipped. "Fuck." I went to pick it up. "Just great." It cracked a little. I should've known.
The loud knocking sound on the door startled me, causing me to jump back and almost trip on my bed.
"Gal! Yu huuu!!!" I know that voice.
I ran to the door and hugged him. "Hey! Where have you been?"
"I've been to paradise." Brandon winked.
"And how's that?" I smiled.
"Hot!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"Ok, why are you here?" I pulled him inside my bedroom and closed the door.
"Oh, you know. I kinda miss you, I guess." He whispered the last part to himself.
"I see. I miss you too, I guess." I walked inside my closet and searched for two minion hoodies. "Here." I passed it to him and he slipped it on.
"Where's the snack?" He switched on the tv and searched through the channel.
"I don't know." Playfully teasing him and slowly pulled out two party-size Doritos. I shake them and threw one at him.
"Teachers are looking for you." He complained with a frown.
"I know. Ms. Prime had just called me." I listen carefully to the crunchy sound as I bite the shit out of the Dorito. Is it Dorito if it's only one piece?
"Your mom called me." He said and laid on his back.
"W- What'd she say?" I shakily downed my water.
"Just that, you're a weirdo."
"Don't kid with me." I scowled at him.
He scoffed and continued, "She's worried bout you. She said you looked pale." Brandon sat up and examined my face. "And you do! What happened to you?"
"Nothing serious. I just had a little accident."
"What? When? How?" He bombarded me with questions.
"Uh, there was a thief in the house."
"This mansion?" He gasped and I nodded. "No way." He shook his head. "But there are a lot of guards here, though? There's no damn way the thief gets in so easily and stabbed you? Why would he stab you? He's there to rob right?"
"It's a she. You're actually right. She didn't even steal anything. Why would she stab me and how did she get in? The guards were everywhere and nobody saw her out."
"Unless..." He started and we both got the light bulb.
"It's someone from the inside!" We exchanged glances with each other in horror.
