As the sun rose around six o' clock I get up from my bed to start the day. After washing up I head downstairs and start to explore the house a little. In the living I see the mother and child wolf again asleep so I decided not to bother them. I went into the kitchen and to my surprise the girl with the scar was there wearing a sports bra and tight pants but covered in sweat as if she just came from working out. She sees me and slightly waves. I wave back and head to the fridge to get something to eat. To no surprise the fridge was about 75% meat. I nod and look for something else to eat the girl notices and speaks to me.
"There's some bread and peanut butter in those cupboards there. Julian finished the jam yesterday so sorry."
"Oh umm thank you."
A slight nod from her she turns back around and continues what she was doing.
"What are you doing?"
She just turns around and a piece of raw meet is hanging from her mouth. I nod and continue to make myself a PB sandwich.
"So, a Harris. My family talks about how the Harris family use to hunt them back in merry ole England and Northern Ireland."
"Oh, interesting. Let me guess was your family the ones who help drive the hunters out of England as well."
"Of course, very proud of that too."
"So what are you doing so far from home then where you can be hunted"
She looks at me and with a snarky tone she says "I'm a royal, I didn't want to assume the throne of my family."
"Oh, understandable. By the way, what's your name."
"Normally I don't give this out to your kind but since it seems your gonna be with us for a while who knows, my name is Lucy. Well its the name I prefer at least. Hard for some people to say Lycera so just call me Lucy."
"Lucy, nice name."
"Aww thanks"
As I look at her I notice a ring on her left ring finger. I was gonna ask but I stopped myself since it may not be the best time to be chums with werewolves who may or may not trust you at the moment. Soon Julian comes to the kitchen to grab a piece of meat and waves at the both of us with Lucy saying "Hey silent boy, gonna speak again sometime soon." Julian just ignores and flips her off. She rolls her eyes and shakes her head. "Yep, that's Julian for ya." She gets up and looks at me "Oh by the way if you gonna be here for a while make a mental note for yourself. Knock before you come into me and my wife's room please." She walks away and suddenly I learned that she is married and a lesbian. I nodded to that as I ate but then soon gets a hard pat on the back by none other than John.
"Morning there Daniel, eating I see"
"Ye...yes", I say trying to to chock on the piece of food I was chewing. I spit it out and cough
"Oh sorry about that, forget my own strength sometimes. Anyways how was your first night here"
"It was okay, best sleep I got so far since I been out here."
"That is good to hear."
Soon the mother wolf and the child arrive in the kitchen. The mother gives a dirty look before speaking. "Do you people know how to keep the voices down."
"Oh, sorry about that and hello little one."
The child just groans as the woman sighs. "I'm gonna take her to her bed. I'll be back." She walks upstairs with the child in hand. I look at John and chuckle "Well, not everyone is a early bird" I say as I finish eating.
On the same day I took it upon myself to explore more of the area. Along with me was Lucy who just wanted to see if I was up to something. As I looked around the area Lucy tapped on my shoulder to get my attention. I turn to her and with a smirk she says "Hey, ever seen someone shift right in front of you?"
"Yes I have actually. Part of my training."
"Good." She then shifted to her anthro form and sighed a relief. "Feels so much better when in this form, you get a better connection with nature and the "layline" or whatever its called. I don't know too much about it my babe is the mystic one."
I just nod to whatever she says. "I see, neat." I knew what she was talking about obviously but at this moment its best for me not to correct her. She then looks in a different direction and looks back at me.
"Hey human quick question, do you know how to swim or was that also "part of your training" as well."
"Actually my mother forced me to take swim classes incase we ever got in a shipwreck."
"Oh wow, that's actually pretty smart but lame at the same time. Well come on were not for from the lake."
"Wait there's a lake nearby, wouldn't there be and humans there?"
"Humans, naw this is our territory. From the outskirts of town the the mountain ranges of there, somewhere I don't know John tried to explain that but he was in his cryptic state. Oh which I should warn you, if John has a cup of blood or had one. Be prepare to figure out what he is saying."
"Blood?"
"Dewolfe stuff I have no fuckin clue what that's all about mate."
"Oh, I see." After that conversation we head to the lake and Lucy was right, no humans. I turn to her with a concerning look and ask "So what happens if a human or humans do cross?"
"Well we attack them, no children that's our rule. Children do not get harmed, if a child crosses by curious wonders or something we just send them back. Normally humans don't cross up here anyways cause their afraid so that's good. We just get the occasional teenage group or big game hunters. Rare to see your type of hunters here. Back then, wait actually it might have been someone from your family, well back then me and my love were in another pack not far from here. He was a hunter too. Think his name was Damien or something? Anyways yeah he found us and oh boy did our mystic person love to mess with the poor guy."
My idiot of a baby brother, of course he would become the pet for the wolves. To my curiosity I ask "What ever happen to my brother?"
"Oh he's your brother, well then he's doing fine. The only reason why he came to us was because he was bit by some wolf and heard about the stories."
My brother was the only one in the family who wanted nothing to do with our family history or our work. I'm guessing that caught up to him. "Interesting, so did this pack had a name by chance?"
"Yeah it was called the-." Soon she stopped herself, as if she knows of the name but doesn't want to say it, she looks away from me. "Sorry, it's just that, the pack wasn't the best thing ever. Lets just enjoy the time we have." I let her be as I look out into the lake. I pick up a rock and throw it across the waters, as if I'm trying to rock skip. It skips 3 times before going into the water. Lucy sees and grabs a rock of her own and throws it, making it skip farther than me. With a smirk she says "wanna go again human." I just shake my head and skip another rock this time it goes even farther than hers. This goes on and on until a wolf watches us. Lucy turns around and joins the wolf. Licking and rubbing herself it obvious that this was her wife. I wait for her to greet me to her by the area where we were skipping rocks.
"Daniel, this is my wife Zanette."
I wave a hello to her as she looks at me up and down before speaking.
"So your the human John decided to invite to stay. Old fool is either the smartest man ever or is starting to lose his mind. Anyways what's your name again, Daniel was it?"
"Yeah, Daniel Harris."
"Wouldn't happen to be related to Damien Harris, right."
"Yes babe, Damien is his brother."
"Oh neat, I still talk with him from time to time. Mystics always got that spiritual connection."
"By which you mean sending a later then telling a bird to go deliver it, then sure wizard girl."
I couldn't help but chuckle a little at Lucy's joke. Zanette just rolls her eyes before looking at Lucy and licking her a few times. She then walks away and Lucy sighs before looking back at me.
"That's my wife for you. Anyways I'm hungry and I want a deer. Can you find yourself back to the cabin or do I need to take you home."
"No no, I got this. You go do you, I got more people to greet and well see why John invited me here."
She just nods and walks away. I walk back to the cabin too whistling a tune that my mother always used to sing to me, my brother, and my sister before bed.
