Chapter 34 - The Ra Dilemma 2

Inhaling deeply, Bertha readied herself to explain to Kyn on the complexities of Ra's identity. She realised that their objective depended on his recognising this deity's character.

"Kyn," she said, "Ra is not just any ancient god. In Egyptian mythology, he is a formidable and multifaceted character. He was the patron of the sun, heavens, royalty, power, and light, among other essential ideals. He essentially symbolised the fundamental elements of life and order in the universe of ancient Egypt."

"Ra had many forms and manifestations," she went on. "Sometimes he was the actual sun; at other times, he was only a god directing the activities of the sun. He thus became a representation of life and light. Ra was also connected to the idea of day, representing the path taken by the sun across the heavens."

Bertha went on to discuss the finer points. "But here's where it gets really interesting. Ra was able to metamorphose into another deity when he combined with Chaos. Thus became Amun-Ra when he united with Amun, one of the greater infamous creator deities (becoming a combination of the sun god and the universe's creative force), symbolising the sun's untainted, all-encompassing might. FYI, It's crucial to remember that although Amun is frequently connected to chaos, his union with Ra provided order to that chaos."

She stopped to make sure Kyn understood. "So, when Ra combines with Chaos, he can create, but he's still limited in his single existence as 'Ra'. It is crucial to comprehend these facets of Ra's nature since they shape his personality and intentions. As we go through this issue, we must keep this deity's significance in mind."

Nodding, Kyn took in the information, "I understand now. Ra is a powerful deity that stands for both life and order. And he gets even more powerful when he joins forces with Amun. This gives our situation a whole new level of complexity." ... "Now, how does Amun get into the picture if he messed around with Ra's singularity?"

Where Bertha left off, Gaia continued, delving more into Amun's complexity. "Plus, you see, Amun is also not your typical god. He is, in a sense, a byproduct of chaos, having come from its very core. Chaos is where everything begins, and it's not so much that Amun created himself, but rather that he, like all chaos entities, discovered his existence and then established himself in the universe."

"But what distinguishes Amun," she went on, "is his wish to keep his distance from chaos. He claims to be the original, inscrutable, and indivisible creator of it all, seeking to elevate his status above the chaotic origin. But as a result, his bond with Khaos—the original emptiness of chaos itself—became weaker."

Gaia then went on to explain why the union of Amun-Ra was significant. "The union of Amun and Ra is the union of two very strong creatures. While Ra is the symbol of light and order, Amun brings the chaotic, creative factor. This mixture results in an invisible and visible deity that is consistent with the idea of Ma'at, the harmony and balance principle, as understood by the ancient Egyptians."

"Amun is frequently depicted in various forms, such as a goose, snake, or ram, and occasionally as a man with a ram's head," she continued. "These portrayals demonstrate his versatility and capacity for situational adaptation."

Gaia stopped, giving Kyn time to take in the intricacy of these celestial creatures. "So, when dealing with Ra and Amun-Ra, we're not just dealing with gods; we're dealing with cosmic forces that have helped shape this reality. It's imperative that you treat individuals with decency and comprehend their history and abilities."

Kyn nodded, his comprehension for how serious things were becoming more and more. "Now that I think about it, we live in a world where it's difficult to distinguish between myth and reality. We have to use caution."

Bertha nodded, taking in Gaia's explanation, "That's a good way to put it. Think of Amun as Ra's alter ego, the side of him that emerges when he's exceptionally angry or provoked. You see, the circumstances surrounding the stone's theft are just as important as the stone itself."

She went on, "You may have taken something that would not seem like much in and of itself, but what really enraged Ra was the fact that you were able to outsmart him and get away with it. He most likely believed the stone was useless in your hands, but destiny had other ideas, involving Kyn, and the stone ultimately became part of his arsenal."

Bertha stressed how significant this turn of events was. "It appears as though the cosmos had a different intention for that stone and selected Kyn and you to be its emissaries. Ra is upset not only about the crime but also over being outwitted by ordinary individuals, which seems to have damaged his ego."

Facing Kyn, she acknowledged his contribution. "Kyn, we have to find a method to make peace with Ra and correct this problem because you unintentionally became involved in this cosmic play. It's not just about returning the stone; it's about restoring the balance and harmony in your said worlds or destinies; the universe seems to be aligning with the ancient Egyptian concept of Ma'at."

Kyn turned to face Gaia after she laughed, looking at her questioning gaze. "What's so funny?" he asked.

Gaia answered with a gleam in her eyes, "I couldn't help but think back to the time I handed you the gun. You see, it's not just any old firearm. It was a stubborn, restless piece of metal, and it became even more so the moment you stepped into the bar. It literally was hard for me to resist not giving that artifact to you, Kyn, as it's gatekeeper."

Thinking to herself, she had felt the soul within the weopon liven up the moment he entered as if it was asking her to allow her to meet him.

Kyn arched an eyebrow, seeing that the gun meant more than he had first imagined. "Restless? What do you mean?"

Leaning forward, Gaia said in a low, secretive tone, "It seems as though the pistol detects something in you that is consistent with its intended use. You see, Kyn, I think that items such as the one you currently own are more than just trinkets; I think they have a deeper meaning that is related to the cosmic order. It's become evident that you were the one selected to wield them; since they seek out those who are destined to wield them." She added, adding extra stress to the "weilding".

While Gaia was speaking, something occurred to her, " What's even more fascinating, you ask? Ra, the deity we're dealing with, is also a caretaker of an artifact. These relics appear to have started seeking each other out, bringing those who are supposed to be involved in their story together. And if my guess is not wrong, that's the artifact."

Kyn felt a wave of duty and purpose sweep over him as he gazed at the revolver in his grasp. He was chosen by an artefact with a purpose of its own, and he was no longer merely a spectator in this cosmic drama.

Gazing determinedly, he faced Gaia and the other individuals. "Then, it appears that we have a special part to play in this story that is evolving. Let's discover the real meaning of these artefacts and work towards mending our differences with Ra."
