Chapter 19 - Decision

The warning from Bertha weighed heavily on Kyn's shoulders, like a shroud of dread. Upon exchanging a gaze with Gaia, he observed that she, too, recognised the gravity of the situation. They had unwittingly stepped into a world of danger and intrigue as the complexities of fate's tangled threads became clearer, exposing a world of peril and intrigue.

Kyn's mind raced as he processed the newly received information. Chris's rash theft of the Sun Stone had not only attracted the attention of Ra's guardians, but also exposed them to a domain of divine repercussions, ancient prophecies, and mysterious beings such as Bertha. The disclosure of Bertha's role added to the intricacy of their situation. They appeared to be puppets in a cosmic game they did not fully comprehend.

The urgency of their situation could not be neglected. Kyn's resolve was resolute, and he turned to Chris with a determined expression. "We must discover a way to return the Sun Stone and calm Ra's wrath. It is the only method to eliminate this threat."

Chris nodded, his visage a mixture of regret and determination. "You are correct. I never intended for any of this to occur, and I am prepared to make amends." But the problem lay in the fact that he had built himself a reputation.

The presence of Gaia provided them with fortitude. Kyn's sense of purpose was rekindled by her unwavering support and the implicit bond they had established. As they began to formulate a strategy, they realised that they were on the verge of a perilous voyage that would require not only physical prowess and cunning, but also an awareness of the complex forces that governed their world.

With Bertha's warning still reverberating in their minds, they knew that from this point forward, every decision they made could have far-reaching repercussions. The path ahead was uncertain, but they were determined to travel it together, seeking redemption, comprehension, and possibly a chance to alter their destinies in the face of mortal and divine obstacles.

Chris's reputation as a tomb raider had spread across universes like an enigmatic shadow across worlds. From the colossal pyramids of ancient civilizations, Egypt, to the eerie silence of deserted mediaeval palaces such as the Nova Cane fort, he pursued his illicit interests everywhere. His penchant for audacious robberies, particularly those aimed at priceless works of art and glittering gems, earned him a notorious reputation in both the Ador Sol and Solar Sol systems. His famous quote, "The dead don't Bite", with his signature signed at the bottom showcasing his work's pride.

Legends whispered his name with a mixture of admiration and the rich dreaded the over the fact he was right. As he ventured into uncharted territory, his daring exploits were both fascinating and frightening. His tales of sneaking into heavily guarded tombs and outwitting complex security systems had taken on a mythical quality. The stories praised his shrewd intelligence, audacious charm, and his ability to navigate the most perilous situations.

Although his abilities as a thief were indisputable, his reputation painted a more complicated picture. The ramifications of his actions extended beyond the immediate excitement of the heist. The artifacts, obelisk relics along with the precious stones he stole were culturally and historically significant, and his indifference to their worth only increased the animosity he built. As he traversed from one system to the next, the echoes of his deeds reverberated throughout the worlds he had impacted.

Kyn and the others now faced this dual legacy: one of audacity and infamy, calculated risks and unintended consequences. They now had to contend with not only the physical dangers but also the weight of Chris's past actions as they delved into the tangled maze of obstacles in front of them. Their journey was now an opportunity for them to redemption themselves, and a chance to alter Kyn's destiny and challenge the path that had led them to this precipice.

"Did she just up, and disappear as if I were a local around these parts?" Kyn said rhetorically, looking at Gaia, who seemed lost for words. If only she could help us out.

Kyn turned to Chris with a furrowed brow after taking a moment to assess the situation. "Chris, I'm still adjusting to my surroundings. Can you describe our location?"

Chris nodded with a serious expression as he began to explain their location. "Indeed, Kyn, first, the plane we are on follows a different set of rules. As of now, we have just traversed from Abydos in the Ador Sol system to Maroneia in the Solar Sol system. We traversed the 'alleged river,' a land bridge that spans the Propontis Strait and transcends both space and time"

As Chris spoke, he pointed to the surrounding landscape. Kyn was unfamiliar yet familiar with the terrain, which consisted of a combination of ancient ruins and rolling hills that exuded a sense of mystique. The mention of the "alleged river" piqued Kyn's interest, raising questions about its true nature and any associated legends.

Chris continued with a focused tone. "Maroneia is renowned for its exceptional combination of historical relics and natural beauty. Especially the women, you'll definitely be in for a treat. Anyway, it is rumoured to be a crossroads of worlds, with echoes on Ador and Solar (Ra's realm) civilizations. However, our immediate focus is on dealing with the aftermath of the my escape, I kind of left some of my tools at Maroneia while fleeing from the consequences of my actions."Before Kyn could speak, "About the women, He's Spoken For." Gaia aired her opinion, leading to her questioning why she did so in the first place. Thinking to herself, a mischievous idea popped up into her mind.

As they stood on the bridge between two worlds, the significance of their journey and the difficulties that lay ahead became more evident. It served as a reminder that their actions were interconnected with the environments as they traversed the worlds, the history they encountered, and the decisions they made.
