Chapter 3 - Reality hits Different

'Good, now that we have that out of the way, the basics ... first you aren't allowed to kill yourself, any suicidal thoughts are punished by a reduction on the current bounty taken and can be put to debt if non-taken/exist. You technically can die by accident, but the system will revive you from the previous neutral grounds you'll have registered yourself at ... are you listening (>^<)* ...'

Kyn on the other hand was busy ignoring the tiny voice as he went on through his link, trying to purchase merchandise for the upcoming missions, he saw fit to send the goods he'd purchased to the subway stations neutral grounds address.

As he was busy looking through the listings, the lingering pop-up of his status revision to become free of Unity popped up again. This time he placed his finger to sign off the pop-up, status accepted.

' Okay, you do realize what you just did …'

(mecha voice, "Status approved, happy hunting Sir A.M. Kyn, pantheon status to be updated in 23:59hrs")

Looking up he saw the tiny devil smiling back at him.

'... for a gunslinger your pretty much lax on reading the predicament we're in, the moment you put your finger on that contract, your unprepped ass is up for happy hunting ... n here I thought you had some brains'

For a wisp you pretty much talk too much, the subway location you gave me is right about across the city will be there before any of the bounty hunters gets a chance to cross cities.

'Remember the term "Gifts", I warned you about. Raphael can catch up to you in less than a minute, Juba isn't far as you deem it fit, 47seconds and counting. Stupid Mutant, RUN!!!'

Quarter an hour later,

Kyn ran through the neon-lit streets, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew he had to get to the subway before the bounty hunters caught up with him. The subway was the only neutral ground in the city, and he would be safe there. But getting there was easier said than done.

The city was a cyberpunk world, where technology ruled and the lines between humans and machines were blurred. Kyn had always been on the run, always trying to stay one step ahead of the crime syndicates but never had he ever had to ran away from intergalactic bounty hunters. They were relentless, and they never gave up. Kyn knew that if they caught him, he would be taken back to their pantheon, and that meant certain death.

'You have no pantheon, no firepower, no transport, no food ,power and that's not the end of it … you're completely useless. apart from the gun by your side and I you technically are a marooned moron. Who accepts to go to war naked (bakaaah =-P) … '

Kyn looking back at his stupidity finally looked up to ask " You're a demon right? "

'For a price everything is possible but your too cheap (^w^)s '

He dodged and weaved through the crowded streets, trying to avoid the surveillance cameras and the drones that patrolled the area. He knew that they were tracking him, trying to pinpoint his location. He had to keep moving, had to keep running.

"Come on be serious, can you show me his location at least"

Suddenly, he heard the sound of footsteps behind him. He turned around and saw one of the bounty hunters, a hulking man with cybernetic enhancements, charging towards him. Kyn knew that he couldn't take him on in a fight, so he turned and ran.

'What (-*-) you said ... show me not tell me, Language barrier is a thing you know ...'

Kyn turned and ran as fast as he could, weaving in and out of the crowds, trying to lose his pursuer. He could hear the man's heavy breathing behind him, and he knew that he was getting closer. Kyn felt a surge of panic rising in his chest. He had to get to the subway, and he had to get there fast.

He saw the entrance to the subway up ahead and sprinted towards it. He could see the crowd of people gathered there, waiting for the next train. He knew that he would be safe once he got inside.

But as he approached the entrance, he saw another bounty hunter materialize out of thin air, in front of him. Kyn skidded to a stop, his heart sinking. He was trapped.

'Damn look at that speed, these guys definitely belong to her dynasty, they already have you cornered and you haven't even spent an afternoon as a hunter yet. Poor Kyn you need to pay attention when your inner demon is talking to you'

The two bounty hunters closed in on him, their weapons drawn. Kyn knew that he had only one chance. He took a deep breath and charged towards them, his fists clenched. Setting his blaster to a stun effect, he stunned the two creating confusion slipping back into the crowd.

The bounty hunters were taken aback by his sudden attack, and Kyn used the opportunity to slip past them and dart into the subway. The crowd of people parted for him, and he ran down the stairs and onto the platform.

' The doorway to the neutral grounds should be straight ahead to on your left '

That wasn't there when I came in yesterday, An out of place golden door at a subway station can evoke a sense of curiosity and intrigue in commuters yet nobody seemed to notice it. The presence of a luxurious and ornate door in an otherwise utilitarian and mundane space can create a feeling of dissonance, causing people to wonder why it is there and what purpose it serves yet not even a child looked up at it. Hidden in plain site to those worth of seeing it. Pushing forward the nob Kyn dropped in onto the polished mahogany floor of a bright lit saloon.
