Chapter 9 - High Class Asset

How did I end up in this situation, one beauty whose existence alone defies the odds and a wisp as a guide, like how in world is this a fair deal.

In a remote part of the world, of coast of the Mediterranean, far from where Gaia's clone and Kyn traveled, a lone hunter named Chris walked through the rough landscape with quiet confidence. Chris was used to risk. He wore leather clothes that were worn and had a determined look in his eyes. Because he was known to be good at all kinds of military combat strategies, a bounty of 47,000 light rubies was put on his head. This got the attention of people who wanted to get paid to catch him. His steps were quiet, his senses sharp, and his heart attuned to the rhythms of the wild. He was a nomad, a solitary figure who sought his fortune in the untamed lands.

He didn't know it, but this time around Ares' Pantheon had sent out three of the most dangerous and efficient bounty hunters out side the matrix to track him down. The Widow makers, as the name suggest a group of hardcore mercenaries led by Talos, a medium built fellow but with a metallic prosthetic arm that seemed almost as living if not for the bronze coat luster. His twin companions, Lyra, swift and agile, and Aric, a cunning strategist, the two having of have grown up on the streets were quick and smart, and they knew how to set up proper ambushes. The trio were known for their brutal gorilla warfare tactics.

An orchestra of colors played as the sun set, bathing the sky in orange, pink, and gold. The lengthy shadows created by the waning light across the rough landscape gave the area an air of calm peace. A momentary pause occurred as day turned to darkness, and the Earth seemed to take a deep breath.

Chris stood on the brink of a cliff, watching the sun go down among this breathtaking scene. The soft breeze that ruffled his hair brought with it a wave of nostalgia. His thoughts went back in time to a cherished recollection.

He let the memories wash over him as he closed his eyes. He reflected about his first brave expedition inside an old Egyptian tomb. Every step he made reverberated with the voices of long-lost pharaohs; the air was thick with the weight of history.

His mind played out the memory in real time. With a healthy dose of caution and enthusiasm, he had made his way through the maze of passageways, decoding complex hieroglyphics and avoiding hidden traps. His youthful determination, spurred on by the prospect of money and knowledge, had carried him deeper into the tomb.

However, his brazenness was noted. A palpable aura of foreboding pervaded the room as he unearthed a priceless relic. Before he could process what he was sensing, his link rang, "Force registration attempt successful, hunter Chris status updated!!!", the room was bathed in a dazzling light, and a voice as resonant as thunder boomed off the stone walls.

In a thunderous tone, Ra yelled, "You dare desecrate this sacred tomb, mortal?"

Chris had frozen, the consequences of his actions weighing heavily on his mind. First his link now a god, Powerful as the sun that paved his way, the divinity before him exuded majesty. Fearing for his life, he had fled the tomb but not after grabbing himself a divine treasure , setting in motion a pursuit of mythological proportions as the sun god fiercely pursued him.

He peered out of his closed eyelids at the setting light. His former pursuer, the sun, was now setting calmly, sending a warm warmth over the land.

The recollection served as a reminder of how far he had come, of the difficulties that had made him the skilled hunter he was now. Even as night fell and stars twinkled above, Chris clung to that recollection as proof of the irrevocable march of time and the stories that molded his path.

As the sun went down on evening, Chris set up camp in a small clearing. The flickering firelight made the shadows of the trees dance. He didn't know it, but the bounty hunters had been watching his every move and were getting ready for their long-awaited trap.

Chris heard a rustling in the woods while the fire was making an eerie glow. He reached for his weapon out of reflex, but before he could do anything, Lyra and Aric came out of the shadows with their weapons drawn. Chris tightened his grip on his own gun and looked around to see what was going on.

D.Talos moved forward, and his artificial arm glowed menacingly in the light of the fire. "Chris," he said in a gruff voice, "you've earned quite a reward. Ares himself wants you to be caught."

Chris's eyes grew narrow as he looked at his opponents. He knew he was facing a problem that was different from any other he had faced before. Their well-planned attack took him off guard, and he might not be able to get away unscathed with the ways he usually does things.

Ares' how comes his beef stood with the sun god, what did the god of war want to do with him.

Even though Chris was determined, he had trouble fighting off the attack. The bounty hunters from the Pantheon were merciless, and each attack was planned to take advantage of his left hand defense weaknesses. Chris's defenses broke down blow by blow, and he understood he couldn't win this time.

Chris's mind was racing as the fight went on. He knew he couldn't afford to lose, because his reward was his only way to stay alive. But even the best fighter could lose if they were caught by surprise and the attack was well-planned.

Chris's strength grew weaker as steel hit steel and shadows danced. It was clear that the people who had him wanted to take him to Ares' Pantheon, and the fact that he was a lone hunter was his end. Chris made one last, brave attempt to avoid being caught, but the chances were against him.

As D.Talos, Lyra, and Zephyr Aric brought Chris under control, the night air was full of anxiety.

And so was our favorite clone escort, and for all the wrong reasons to begin with.
