Chapter 11 - Chapter twelve: A true friend and a sound

Daniel spoke first

"hey willy boy, how are you doing?"

Wilson only nodded, so Daniel decided to take that chance to keep on talking. He hated seeing his best friend wallow in self-pity and sadness.

They had been friends for as long as he could remember and Wilson was always the one trying to cheer Daniel up whenever he was down and not the other way around.

"listen wil, I won't let you give up on yourself you hear me?. You can't give up yet okay? There's still hope remember, the elder said you might be a late bloomer, who knows, anyway there's still time and we're still young. You might end up awakening super duper cool elements or maybe all of them. Just don't give up alright".

Wilson nodded but he still looked sad and let down.

"thanks for trying to cheer me up bud, I don't know what I'd have done without your help, even though let's say I awaken next year or two years, you'd be gone by then, I'm gonna miss you buddy".

"no"Daniel declared loudly.

"if that'll keep you down, then I refuse to go to any academy till you awaken!"

Wilson immediately declined

" no Dan, what'll your parents say, the world needs a powerful and wonderful TRI elemental like you around, you can't hold yourself back because of me."

"No will, I won't leave you behind, we're best friends. We were supposed to travel round the world TOGETHER as super duper great elementals. There's no way I'm going back on our friendship promise bond".

"Dan listen to me, remember why we wanted to be elementals in the first place?"

"uhm..... to look cool...?"

" yes and no, we wanted to be able to help all people in need, so that no one would suffer ever again."

" oh yeah, hehe...I forgot"

" yes and if a super cool elemental like you doesn't learn to control his powers, how will we be able to achieve that dream?"

"but, but who am I gonna annoy if you're not there?"

"don't worry, I'm sure you'll make new friends as well, and I'll still be here Kay?".

And so after countless arguments and disagreements, Wilson and Daniel finally calmed down with Daniel somewhat agreeing to go to an academy.

----__________---_______

"Come on bud, it's getting dark. let's get going" Daniel suggested.

"No worries Dan, you can go on ahead, I'll be right behind you" replied wilson.

Daniel didn't want to leave Wilson behind all alone again, So he still tried to convince Wilson to follow him all to no avail.

In the end he hesitantly left and went back leaving Wilson all alone again.

Wilson being alone was now able to think more thoroughly and grasp the full meaning of everything that had occurred so far in that day.

He never expected his life to feel like it had been turned upside down and in a day at that. He was still heartbroken having his dreams being crushed so painfully in front of him.

After crying out all his pain and sadness, Wilson finally stood up and decided to get going home. He had had a long day and just wanted to go to bed where he could cry some more.

He started walking, using the same route he and Daniel had mapped out from their countless fun filled so called adventures. He kept on walking and walking until he noticed that something was amiss.

He was pretty sure he had passed the tree in front of him, yet it felt like he just got there.

WAIT!! that was the same tree. Something was definitely wrong.

He circled back to he and Daniel's hideout and tried to retrace his steps.

After getting there, he tried leaving again, but the same thing happened. Wilson was beginning to become nervous, how could he not, he was just a young defenseless child, it was not like he could really defend himself.

Wilson began to panic and tried to leave but it kept on feeling as if he was stuck in an endless space or loop.

He was getting more scared as time went by. he didn't know what else to do. Daniel had already left so he knew he was all alone.

Wilson began to regret, if only he had known, he would have gone along with Daniel, then at least he would have had someone to talk to or someone to keep him company but now he was all alone.

He really didn't know why but he hated that feeling. He totally disliked the feeling of being all alone and in a situation he didn't understand at all.

And once again for the third time in that day, wilson began to cry. He didn't know when but he had fallen to the floor once more and began to cry.

One might think being a former adult and from a different world at that should have made wilson more mature or aware of what the world was like. But he didn't care because after living like a child for more than ten years, he had come to enjoy the feeling of being looked after and cared for.

In the midst of his sobs and tears, he heard a rustling sound. At first he thought he must have been hearing things but then he heard it again.

Getting scared thinking it was a beast even though they were rare in such environments, Wilson picked up a stone that looked quite heavy from the floor just in case any unforeseen circumstances took place.

The sound kept on getting louder and louder as if whatever it was was getting closer. Wilson steeled his mind and gathered whatever little courage he had and got prepared.

When the sound got so loud that the bushes were rustling, Wilson began to regret some decisions he had made.

And finally, what was making the sound finally stepped out but it was very far from what Wilson expected it to be.
