Chapter 22 - Sensei

Rather than DID, namely: Dissociative Identity Disorder, it is more about schizophrenia. My detective deliberately created his own world. There he can be perfect as he has always wanted. I don't know why, but Okaa-san once told me that it all started when she couldn't save his brother. Even though it was clear that my detective was given time to save his brother, Masaru.

*Okaa-san = mother

Yes, Masaru had been in the real world. However, he was killed by a crazy psychopath when Shinsuke was just a detective. Not only Masaru, many victims fell after that. The killer presents a riddle that Shinsuke must solve. However, Shinsuke is always late in solving puzzles, as a result the psychopath kills the victims.

It all put a mental strain on my detective.

He felt very guilty for the deaths of all the victims.

To this day we don't know where this crazy psychopath is hiding.

Shinsuke had been put in rehab before. However, I didn't expect his illness to recur when he met me.

Four years ago too, it wasn't actually Masaru that he hurt, but himself. Masaru is not real. He created the figure of Masaru to relieve his guilt towards his brother. However, it seems that he did not expect that the character he created was able to control his mind and physique. And it wasn't me who was killed either, because I was still at home at that time.

Shinsuke becomes a very special Masaru figure. Masaru was able to treat me as a real wife. We also have sex. At that time I did not know if that figure was Masaru, a character created by Shinsuke himself.

After the incident in the old building, Shinsuke was admitted to a mental hospital. No one can find him. His ability to distinguish between reality and hallucinations is so messed up that the doctor won't let me see him.

The doctor advised me to enter his subconscious. There I followed the path of life that he created. The perfect life as a detective that he had always dreamed of.

At first it went well. He didn't suspect my sudden arrival at all. All he remembered was that I was dead, and that it was his fault. He punishes himself, creating imaginations as he pleases. Even though he looks happy, but I still hope he can come back with me. Back to the real world where we belong

"How is it progressing?"

The psychiatrist Zenko-sensei asked me.

"Still the same, Sensei. Looks like I failed again to bring him with me. He still thinks I'm not real. His tulpas are also desperately trying to wake him up. They even intend to kill me."
