Beep-beep-beep-beep-...
I opened my eyes with this constant noise in my ears. When I recovered my sight, I looked around and soon realized I was in the hospital, but why-, the door opened, and a nurse walked in, "Oh, you're finally awake!" She said smiling. I turned my gaze to the ceiling, 'What a beautiful ceiling, wow!'
"Not much of a talker, I see," she said again as she walked over to my bed and bent down to take my temperature.
"I hope you weren't taking your patients' temperatures that way." She finished and looked at me, "Why is that?" She asked, 'Is she pretending not to know or what?'
"Are you with someone?" She looked at me strangely, "No need to shoot me a look. Just answer yes or no, isn't that complicated?" She rolled her eyes and nodded, "So it's a yes," I sighed. "I don't think the person you are with, would appreciate the fact that your chest can be seen when you bend over," hearing this she placed a hand on her chest, she was stunned.
"Don't take this the wrong way, just be careful moreover I saw it not because I wanted to, but rather because I couldn't see anything else" She blushed, "at the same time, it's true I wanted to look away, but you were right in front of me, even looking in other directions I could only see that. I even tried to turn my head, but you blocked it with your hands and said, quote, 'Don't move'" I said imitating her voice at the end, smiling, she blushed even more. 'Here's thinking about it, I could have closed my eyes, hmm, never mind, it's too late.'
"More seriously, how long have I been here?" She got serious again, "2 days", she answered "oh"
"Well I'll leave you now, I have other patients to see, the doctor will be here in a few minutes."
"Oh, you're dropping the formalities. And you were just coming to take my temperature?"
"Yes, because I feel that being formal doesn't work with you and no, I was here to see if you were awake or not. I checked your temperature since you had a fever right after you got to the hospital."
"Oh, okay." She nodded and walked out, after a few moments waiting for the doctor, I stopped fighting sleep and fell asleep.
......
I opened my eyes and slowly got up to sit cross-legged. I had just had a dream about my uncle, it was more of a memory than a dream, my uncle was singing me his favorite song that we sang together every chance we got, I started humming the song as I recalled my memories with him with my eyes closed.
"Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence~"
I opened my eyes,
"Oh, hello..." said I as I saw them, they looked sad. I felt pain on my feet, I then sat up more comfortably, I had bandages on my feet 'I must have run too much, I should have been more careful!' I thought as I stroked my right ear.
"Yes, you should have paid more attention to yourself! What the hell were you thinking!" I was yelled at, it was my grandfather. Just like my mother, he must have also learned of his son's death by phone.
I looked at him, he had dark circles under his eyes, his usually flawless beard was scruffy, and his clothes had creases all over them, he had always liked to have his clothes and beard perfect, his eyes were red, and he looked completely broken, no he is. My mother was in the same state as my grandfather, only Cassandra seemed to be better than the other two, however she also had slightly red eyes, probably due to the fact that she had been crying or to fatigue, since she also had dark circles under her eyes.
Yet I've only been here for two days.
"How are you, old man?"
"Harmonie!" Said my mother in a serious tone;
"It's nothing Nifah, leave it" said my grandfather, he turned to me. "It can go and you?"
"Why didn't you tell me?" He knew I was going to ask him that question.
"When your uncle had his accident during his transport to the hospital, the rescue workers told me that your uncle started to speak at one point, he had asked that we don't say anything to you: "Please, you mustn't say anything to my tigress, my niece" such were the words he would have pronounced with difficulty according to the rescue workers. I only respected his wish. His condition was beginning to improve, so I decided to prepare my trip to come here, and I wanted to talk to you about your uncle's situation, after you know what..." He must have understood that I haven't said anything to Cassandra and my mother yet "...but as you know, the day before yesterday the hospital called me to tell me about his death" he finally said, my gaze didn't leave him.
"You're mad at me, aren't you?" He asked with a sigh,
"Why do you ask?"
"You're mad at me, aren't you?" Did he ask again, I only smiled at him, but it was the kind of smile that held no emotion. I directed my eyes to my feet, then to the ground and slowly started to put my feet on the ground, I almost fell because of the pain, but Cassandra managed to catch me, with her help I managed to get closer to my grandfather. I have to admit that the moment I put my feet on the ground, I immediately regretted this action. I feel like crying!
I was finally standing in front of my grandfather, 'Damn, I'm in pain!
"Well, first I need a wheelchair, walking hurts like hell!"
"Language, young lady!"
"Excuse me, mom, but I can't help it because of the pain..." She wanted to say something, but I stopped her" ... And I know it's my fault, the state I'm in, but you have to admit that you're relieved that I did it and not otherwise." I finished my speech and turned my attention once again to my grandfather.
"You're asking me if I'm mad at you, right? Would you feel relieved if I told you I was mad at you?" I asked, tilting my head slightly, despite his firm face you could read sadness in his eyes.
"I would feel relieved..." he replied,
"Grandpa, what good would it do me to be mad at you? It will make you feel like you're paying for your so-called "mistakes" but it won't do me any good, I have no reason to blame you, no one is going to blame you. You must feel that his death is your fault, but Uncle Alex's death is not your fault, nor is it anyone's fault. And I also think he's proud of you Grandpa, he must be proud of the man you've become and the efforts you're making to improve our relationship. I'm proud of you myself." Did I finally say with a sincere smile, that smile that made it very clear to him that I was telling him the truth. He stared at me with teary eyes,
"No, no, nope..." I was stunned, but then no, I've already cried enough, damn it. "Grandpa, do you think they're going to give me a wheelchair to get around?" He nodded his head after a little thought,
"Okay, well honey, you're going to have to help me move to the bed this time." I said to Cassandra. She blushed and nodded.
.......
I have been in a wheelchair for almost a week now. And with the help of Cassidy, I was able to catch up on everything I had missed while I was at home. I was now able to get around without too much pain, but I get tired, very quickly. Two days after leaving the hospital, I caught another fever and seeing that my temperature didn't reduce itself after two days, I had to return to the Hospital.
