Somewhere in Greenland.
"How did one of the greatest scientists and a dumbass ended up in Thule right?" Oliver said with a straight face. They are here to investigate an anomaly caused at 2 AM the day before.
"I know you're humble. But I didn't expect you to call yourself a dumbass ollie. HEHE." Val replied while Oliver made a puffy face.
They are looking for the source of radiation coming mid-way between Thule and Citronen Fjord. Greenland is an island not a continent. So, government here works in various ways. The private organization where Val and ollie work; the USI were able to obtain the permit to search the ground way before other people knew about what happened. Now team "dos" are about ten minutes away from the location.
"What are we looking at? Some radioactive-waste dump?!" Ollie asked the pilot. "Not sure!", "chopper wont last long so we drop you and come back. Got it!"
"That's a little snow mountain ollie. We might need to dig, get the bag." Val said to ollie while getting ready to go down.
"ONE HOUR. Anymore than that and you get your balls freezed!!" yelled the captain before disconnecting the comms.
Val marked their arrival point and they both are now equipped to investigate this source. They are about five meters away from the large rock. Val started to check the surroundings for evidence while ollie is headed for the rock.
Surprisingly enough the radiation is not being produced by the rock. The radiation levels skyrocketed last night and now it's nowhere to be found. Ollie wanted to take samples of the weird rock and he starts banging it with a hammer. All of a sudden both of them feels a great thud; almost like a heartbeat.
The next second several meters long eyelashes raised from the ground.
"Come back!!" Valentine screamed on top of his lungs.
Both of them fell on their back while witnessing a great eye. It was one of the largest and beautiful eyeballs they have ever seen. The large eyeball which was about two stories tall looked into the abyss while life in it slowly fades away.
They probably heard its final heartbeat.
They witnessed the death of a monster. Beautiful but dark. They heard its last breath with a whooshing sound and it slowly let out tears of blood.
The two petite humans could do nothing but gaze into the monster's eye. On that night, they witnessed the end of a great beast.
