It is only after she's half way through to the hospital did she have the thought 'it probably might not be good to go in directly like this'.
She has watched enough movies in her little life of twenty years to know guys from the mafia are under surveillance.
Even if he is not under surveillance as a mafia man, he most definitely would have been under surveillance as an 'young master'. After all, the Fan family is not your corner house gangster, but a genuine industrial group.
His status is very much equivalent to that of BaiMing. If even Bai Ming, who is as openly rich as they come, had been under surveillance by his aunt, as an mafia group's darling son, Delun would have more.
Worse yet, they are probably more cruel and ruthless parties compared to Bai Ming's aunt.
Thus, instead of going directly to the hospital, Bing Lan made a pit stop at her university to pick up her white coat, and steth.
Then, she called up all her contacts to secure a volunteer position at the hospital.
Given the pandemic going on these days, it's easy enough to secure a spot as a medical volunteer for the week.
Thankfully, she found a little bit of time in the evening to visit Delun.
Only, his room was protected by two very scary looking dudes.
BingLan did not want to go up to them and tell them that she's his wife.
After all, Delun sent away all his subordinates, and only the girl gangster accompanied her upstairs.
However, even the girl gangster was dropped off first before they went to get the approval from the hospital.
At no point during this time did Delun mention she is about to be married to him.
Bing Lan was vaguely uncomfortable then, but half of that time she has spent in daze. She did not think much of it then.
Now, thinking back, Delun probably wanted to keep their marriage under the wraps.
So, she went back.
Thankfully, she has chosen cold dishes, which will probably taste alright even if left in the fridge for a time.
She spent some time doing rounds between the patients she has to take care of, and dawdled two more hours doing this paperwork or that information organizing for the professors.
This hospital is big enough to accept interns, and they paid on time, compared to university hospitals. It's pretty famous in 'S' city as a hospital, despite the private ownership.
Then, as the night rolled around, she decided to check on Delun once more.
The first sign of something being wrong is the two guards not being present at the door.
Bing lan did not think too much about it.
After all, it's night.
Maybe she was lucky and came at the time when they were about to change shifts?
She slowly pushed open the door, and it opened easily.
It should have been a warning sign.
None of the doors in the VIP ward are ever open.
If she had been the personnel of the hospital, she would have known how big of a 'sign' it was. Only, Bing lan wasn't working for this hospital.
The hospital insisted when they find any of the VIP ward doors open, immediately call security and proceed. Had even a single nurse been there, they would have told BingLan so.
She had no chance of knowing this.
Thus, she pushed the door, and entered the room.
Only, she had been very silent and careful as she entered the room.
The moment she entered, she saw there was a doctor who's about to do an injection into the saline bottle.
BingLan's eyes automatically fell on the bottle.
'Morphin'
It's a restricted drug, and it's never given to a person who did not break at least three bones in the body. It's such a common knowledge, even she, the medical student knew this.
She called out immediately.
"Hey! Who are you ? Stop that injection immediately." She rushed towards the guy.
Only, the guy was startled at her shout, and he immediately crossed the distance between the bed and herself, and went straight for her throat.
He strangled Bing Lan with his bare hands.
Binglan struggled to breathe, and kept beating up against the man's hands futilely.
Just as she thought she was about to die, Delun leaped over from his bed, bashed the man's head with a saline stand.
Delun rushed to hold Bing Lan, who lost all the strength in her legs.
Bing Lan almost fainted with shock.
She wanted to tell Delun to press the call button, and call a doctor immediately, but she's too scared to even make her voice work.
She fell to the ground weakly, and Delun caught her, and set her on the bed.
Instead of calling the doctor, Delun called his subordinates first.
It is only after the man has been taken away did he press the call button.
BingLan was in white coat, and had no makeup on herself, so none of the underlings seemed to have recognized her.
She sat on the bed, caught her breath.
The doctors came fast enough.
It so happened, they assumed she was an intern who came to check upon Delun, while trying to play a gold digger.
Delun did not speak a word to clear their misunderstanding.
Only, The doctors assumed she came to check upon Delun, and had triggered some kind of trauma and Delun strangled her.
Delun offered to hospitalize her in the VIP ward beside him, and bear the expenses, the chief doctor agreed.
After all, these kinds of incidents are common in VIP wards.
All the same, the chief doctor spoke to her as they settled her on a bed besides Delun.
"Little girl, Do not reach out for the sky. You will only hurt yourself when you fall. I see you are interning yourself. It is better to place your hard work into the career. " The doctor advised her, looking at her in pity.
Binglan's throat was in too much pain to speak.
"Your throat will swell tomorrow, but the swelling should go down eventually. I will give you painkillers for now.Tomorrow morning, we will do an X-ray, to confirm none of the internal organs are injured. Take the bed rest obediently. It's advised not to move a single inch, if you do not want to lose your voice." The doctor explained to her, and left with the nurses.
The chief doctor seemed far too well versed in treating trauma.
BingLan wondered how many patients did this ward treat for physical trauma on average for the doctor to treat strangling this nonchalantly.
Her head is heavy with far too many thoughts just now, so she did not want to think at all.
The lunch box she brought fell from her hands, and was kicked aside in the subsequent rush of people.
However, Delun seemed to have noticed it.
He brought the package to his bed, and set it on the table.
Then, he opened the package reverently, as if it contained something precious.
'Don't pretend now! There's no use for it.' Bing Lan thought viciously as she looked at him.
The pain is slowly starting to increase around her throat.
Meanwhile, the tranquilizer they gave her started working, and she fell asleep watching Delun open the lunch box she brought him.
Delun on the other hand, took pictures of the lunch box, and ate it diligently, relishing each and every bite.
The dishes are simple, but the taste is on the point, and they have been prepared with care.
'Is this the taste of the home cooked meal' he wondered for a moment.
It's not like he hasn't eaten so called home cooked food before.
The market is abound with many shops calling themselves wholesomely home cooked meals.
At his grandfather's place, the cook is a person whose ancestors worked for the imperial kitchen.
Yet, Delun thought this meal was the tastiest among the ones he had.
He doesn't have to worry if someone has mixed poison in the soup, he doesn't have to worry about someone specifically mixing food he was allergic to in the side dishes.
A meal that just is a meal, made with love and care, just for him.
At this point, one would wonder, is a simple meal such a great thing to be touched in the heart?
Sometimes, ordinary things that everyone takes for granted are the ones one can not obtain the most.
Delun, for all his money, never had a meal made just for him.
He lives with his grandfather, and the meals from morning to evening are made with his grandfather's health in mind. Delun just eats the same, if only to not raise a fuss.
Sure, he has eaten university cafeteria food, seemingly 'Home cooked' meals brought by the girls interested in him, but tasted like X or Y restaurant, and the food made at his uncle's houses, which he really needs to check with a silver needle and magnifying glass to be sure is safe.
So, the food he could believe from the bottom of his heart to be safe and is indeed home cooked unlike the other girl's lunch boxes is the first for him.
He is very much touched.
