Chapter 17 - Tri-Hollium

*While Hunter was asleep* *3rd person POV*

The operation and check-up were done rather quickly, within 40 minutes. Hunter had sustained minor superficial injuries. Despite wearing seemingly no protective gear, Hunter is an expert combatant and seemed to be able to dodge any attack thrown at him. After administering a dose of healing serum and checking at cybernetic implants, Dok stepped back to admire his handiwork.

His smile was brief and faded almost instantly. He sighed noisily, letting himself think out loud, " If only I could actually fight as well. I would be much more useful than just sitting here." Dok has always lamented the fact that he was not combatively capable of, he hated seeing his comrades come back with injuries.

He stared at his right prosthetic limb, which is equipped with an empty syringe. He sighed once more and closed his eyes, leaning against his workbench, letting himself drown in his thoughts, imagining if he could actually help in fights.

"Don't worry Dok, you are still a great help." Angel's gentle voice shocked Dok, he thought that he was alone. His eyes flew open and he turned left to see Angel at the base of the staircase. "In fact, I would argue that you might be one of the most important of the Captain's confidants," Angel added with a sweet smile. Her words and her warm smile were ever so contagious. Dok could not help but let one creep onto his face too.

"Thanks, Angel," Dok replied with a grin, turning back to complete Hunter's check-up. Angel walked over in curiosity. However, Dok could tell there was more to it than that. Her face was etched with concern and a slight hint of distress. It was not a good look for a young lady like her.

" Angel? Would you like to help me?" Dok asked, taking note of her expressions. Angel seemed to have been in a daze while looking at Hunter. She was surprised at Dok's question and seemed to panic for a while.

"Huh?! Oh! Um...sure..." She replied in a shocked trance. That simple stammering confirmed Dok's suspicions.

"Angel... have you fallen for our-" Dok said with a knowing grin before being interrupted. " Shush! Dok!" Angel raised her voice, exclaiming with cheeks as red as roses. She then covered her mouth and face in embarrassment. "P-Please don't tell anyone...It's extremely unprofessional..." She pleaded with her eyes on the verge of tears from embarrassment. Dok only smiled and nodded at her.

He then focused on Hunter and the last part that needed to be checked, his right arm. Dok unconsciously let out a sigh. Angel looked at him, confused. " Is there something wrong sir?" "Yeah... Our captain's hidden weapon over here..." He said tapping Hunter's right forearm. Angel examined it. It was unlike any prosthetic or cybernetic she had ever seen. It shone a brilliant dark blue under the light above the examination table. Other than the erosion of paint and the lack of colour in certain areas, there appeared to be nothing wrong with it.

" I don't see anything wrong, " She admitted, confused. "Yeah, on the surface, it's perfect. It's supposed to be that way. It's the highest-end tech. I did a scan of the material before...Tri-hollium. Really rare stuff." While Dok explained his research, the screen between them lit up with statistics and properties of tri-hollium that Dok has observed.

" From what I can tell...It's the strongest alloy in the known universe. I can tell it's an alloy but I can't seem to make out its composition. Frankly, I don't even know how the captain got his hands...or hand I suppose...on this stuff." Angel stared at the screen for a while, drinking in and digesting the uniqueness and power of this alloy.

"Amazing! It's bulletproof, heatproof, an electrical conductor, an energy absorber and emitter..." She kept reading. Her eyes were twinkling as she read on. She let her gaze wander back onto Hunter who was lying bare-chested on the table. His half-mask on the left side of his face was still equipped. His brilliant red hair was dazzling under the light of the operating table. Dok looked up briefly and caught her staring, he couldn't help but smile.

"You should take a look at these," He told Angel, looking back down again to pretend he didn't catch her. She whipped her head around to him with a puzzled look on her face. The screen change as a video began to play. " It's some of the great feats our captain pulled off with that arm of his," Dok explained briefly. Her face lit up at her eyes were glued to the holo-screen.

Videos started playing. The first one shows a tussle between Hunter and a group of thugs from the Clan of Drake. Shots were fired at him but were deflected simply by holding out his right palm. The arm then radiated and made a twanging sound. It converted the kinetic energy into a bright blue light and shot it at the thugs. With the last one, Hunter feinted and attack, scaring the opponent, then grabbed the metal pole behind him, lifting and unbolting it around to use it as a weapon.

The second video was a sparring match between the Captain and 5 of his men. His left hand was tied behind his back. The 5 men slowly approached, visibly shaking from fear despite his handicap. Every kick and punch was blocked and parried. It showed Hunter's prowess as a fighter, not just as a leader or a man reliant on his cybernetics.

" Wow..." Angel unconsciously said. Dok noticed his reaction and chuckled. She realised what she did and turned away sheepishly.

Basically, it's nigh-indestructible and it can absorb energy and redistribute it. If we had enough of this stuff, we would be the most dominant gang easily." Dok stared at the screen in awe, seemingly forgetting he still had a job to do.

"Sir?" Angel meekly asked. Dok snapped back, being reminded of his duty. " Oh! Right!" Dok said clearing his throat. " The problem is that the Captain has several damaged components. However, I haven't been able to open up his arm to maintain it. Even if I could, I bet the circuitry within is extremely delicate. I might not be able to fix him properly. I'm assuming the only ones with the knowledge and ability to fix him up would be imperial doctors and technicians. If not, it's up to Elune." Dok finished explaining, looking towards the operating table where Hunter lay, then looking upward toward the sky, making a silent prayer to the goddess of the moon.

"I... I see... I guess we can only wait for him to wake up right? Don't worry, you did your best Dok," Angel attempted to comfort the dejected Dok. He was sulking at the fact that he could not help their precious leader.
