To both of their surprise, Hunter started squirming on the table. Both of them looked up in shock and turned to each other. Dok shrugged, indicating he did not know what was happening. Hunter only made minor movements for now. His hands and legs were all moving. His face was tightening. His eyes were squeezing and his lips were pursed, it looked like he was concentrating. His breathing and heart rate also hastened.
Dok sprang into action, afraid that he could be hurt or poisoned. " Computer! Run a scan on his bloodstream! Check for impurities or toxins!" Dok yelled as the appliances around him started whirring to life. Mechanical arms prodded Hunter's flesh and scanners were activated, producing a blue cone or light. The screen that displayed tri-hollium's properties now showed a diagram of Hunter's body. Dok ran and put his coat back on, preparing several syringes.
" What...What's happening?" Angel asked, her voice quivering and she was shuddering with fear. Panic was overtaking her mind, Hunter won't die here... Could he? "
"I don't know... The syringe I used was sterilised...Computer! Status!" Dok replied and gave another command to his AI. Angel could only look on in shock and fear.
" Vitals stable. No poison detected. Adrenaline detected." A calm feminine sounding voice replied. Angel only looked around in confusion, wondering what could have possibly happened.
" Scan again! This time-" Dok wanted to add on.
" Wait! Look!" Angel yelled to get Dok's attention. She succeeded, he turned around to see Hunter stop struggling, his legs and arms starting to go limp and rest. His face had softened. Angel held her chest, he is fine now. Before long, something happened that further vexed them.
"E-Erianna?" Hunter mumbled while still under the effects of the anaesthetic. His face softened even further. Not even the slightest hint of a frown remained on his face. His lips curled up slightly, a ghost of a smile started to form on his sweat weathered face.
Angel and Dok looked at each other, shocked and appalled. Dok ran additional scans but all of them showed no results. He was determined to find out what was wrong, but he was coming up empty. He finally stepped back from his computer after the 10th scan, sighing defeatedly.
Angel watched on as a helpless spectator throughout the whole thing, putting her hands on her chest. She was terrified of what had just happened and watching Dok getting stressed out was stressing her out as well.
She started to reminisce, and question. ' Erianna? Who was that? I have never heard that name before...Whoever, it is, it made him calm down almost instantly...What if he is imagining something?' Her face steeled, feeling like she had an epiphany.
" Dok! Run a scan on his brain instead. His body is healthy, but his mind may be damaged!" She exclaimed. Dok looked at her and nodded.
"Computer, run a scan on the brain, focus on the pre-frontal cortex and the hippocampus," he issued the order without hesitation. The machinery around the operating table buzzes, as scans are carried out around Hunter's head. Both of the people in the office anxiously awaited the result, staring at the screen, praying that Hunter was fine.
" Scan complete, hippocampus stimulated. The patient is currently, happy," the AI announced the results and both Angel and Dok heaved a sigh of relief, knowing that he is safe. lts and both Angel and Dok heaved a sigh of relief, knowing that he is safe.
"There doesn't seem to be any damage, as far as I'm concerned," Dok said as he turned to Angel and smiled. She let a smile creep in on her face, but their celebrations were too early.
"Alert! Alert! Fear and anger rising in patient's amygdala." The AI suddenly announced. Dok turned back to his workbench in confusion and fear. Angel was much the same but all she could do was stand there and quiver.
"Damn it!" Dok exclaimed." There is nothing we can do, must be some sort of nightmare, he has to get over it on his own..." Angel's heart was at her mouth, she was on the verge of tears and felt her eyes watering up.
"Eri...No..." Hunter muttered on the table. His face tightened once again, this time in pain. Angel shuffled over, looking over her distressed captain. She has never seen the man she looked up to the most be so vulnerable. Her heart ached for him. He was always the one inspiring confidence amongst the crew and his comrades. Now, he looked broken.
Suddenly, Hunter started sporadically moving, his limbs flailing in every direction. His sporadic movement nearly caused his left hand to hit Angel in the face, forcing her to recoil with a scream. She looked to Dok with concern seeping into every line on her face. Pain engraved in her expression.
"I'm sorry Angel, there is nothing I can do. Computer, restrain the patient," Dok apologetically looked at her and issued the order. Within a mere second, restraining straps bound each of Hunter's limbs to the table. He was still moving and jerking about. His facial expression conveyed a great deal of pain. His fists clenched and face jerked, eyes screwed shut, muttering "no" every few seconds.
Seeing their brave and powerful leader in so much pain hurts both of their hearts. Eventually, his movements became even more sporadic, violent. His voice beginning to rise, rage and despair clearly displayed. His movements managed to rip the restraint on his right hand. Dok and Angel were horrified, both pressing up against opposite walls in the room as the man in front of them squirmed like a psychopath. Angel started weeping, fear for her life and Hunter's.
"NO!" Hunter screamed one last time. His body rose from the table as veins showed themselves on his neck and arms. This scream was abnormally powerful. It was deafening, Angel could hear her ears ringing after it. The appliances in the room emitted a small electric spark, causing Dok and Angel to jump back in fright. After it, he finally laid back on the table, unmoving. Silence.
