Chapter 9 - Weight of gravity

Before the fear of this massive height could have gotten to William, the situation once more developed against his will.

His anxiety met a sudden spike, as the roots he held onto met with a sudden tear! They were ripped out of their former spot, likely because these arm-thick roots weren't enough to hold a fifty kilogram boy.

Now when we combine those details, they would accurately describe that the snakezoid plummeted down!

The air itself whistled as he pierced through it, and of course the ground only got closer.

"Oh no, not again..." He tried to shout but couldn't.

He was simply overdosed with the adrenaline which fear embraced, so his tone was taken away for a second!

It was truly a thrilling experience to fly right towards the storm of enemies, but yet it was alarming once he noticed how heavy he became by the passing second.

This nearly three-hundred meter high fall, would surely guarantee death. The boy could imagine how it would feel once he met with the ground, surely it would not be so comfortable.

"Guess this is it," He felt convinced.

The storm of dragon saplings only got bigger, necessarily, it meant that he plummeted closer towards the ground.

That marvelously gruesome red cloud almost seemed beautiful, it would give peace to an artistic mind, if one could ignore the battle screams that echoed through the moment!

But what William did not expect was for a single red dot to head right towards him. This insect beamed against the boy with what seemed like, heavenly speed.

However, this creature's act was not related to such a noble term. The younger crashed right against this bug, and spat out a mouthful of blood as a result!

At that moment, the system explained. [Dragon saplings have spotted you and they will try to get you back up there, likely to save you for food]

Well, at least the system didn't report anything about broken bones, so that blood he spat out shouldn't be too serious.

"For food my ass, that bug's shell cracked so it ain't eating anyone... well either its shell got busted up, or my ribs." He followed along.

Although his vision had been blurred by the impact, he noticed a couple of key details afterwards.

First things first, he saw that the same bug who crashed against him, now aimlessly fell towards the ground. Clearly, that bug would die very soon so this felt like instant, rightful karma.

Secondly, he noticed that the strong impact had slowed down his fall!

That fact became transparent, especially once he noticed how the wind stopped its whistle. That and the tide of enemies didn't approach breathtakingly fast either.

"My teachers back on earth would've probably used this as a physics lesson," He thought.

Nevertheless, he waited to swiftly ragdoll towards the enemy cloud soon enough; gravity was unforgiving.

Yet something else caught his eye before he plummeted, specifically, a bright green light.

It shone on one edge of this massive tunnel. Such a bit of illumination was small and seemed insignificant, yet it still made its presence known.

Although he was in the midst of a horrid situation, he could still figure out. "What? This place isn't supposed to have any electricity..."

That light was surely weird to a certain extent, but William decided to not worry about it too much. After all, it didn't seem like he would have time to explore odds and ends.

However, after he lost focus of that single light, he was pushed towards a sudden fright!

Another one of these bugs charged towards the boy, and it flew quite fast as well. However, this time he did not want to withstand another collision.

"I won't give you the chance, overgrown mosquito..." The snakezoid whispered.

He could still feel the pain on his chest from the prior impact, so another similar layer of pain would be too much to handle. In this case it could be avoided so it seemed pointless to suffer.

Likewise, William used this opportunity to his full advantage.

He maneuvered that rusty sword right above his head, afterwards he felt ready to swing it against the hasty enemy!

Since he fell just a bit slower at the moment, he was far more mobile; the weight of gravity did not make his movements heavier.

Eager to let out a battle shout for once, he recited. "Eat this!"

After one swing, he managed to slash the enemy right against its head!

Yet this situation almost became dire, because the bug had crashed right against the bottom portion of the sword!

If he had been a hunch slower with that swing, the bug would have crashed against his hands which gripped the sword's handle. Such an impact would have surely broken a few of his fingers!

"Shit!" He still shouted.

The crash against the sword had still been strong, so he had almost sprained his wrists in the process.

Regardless, he was healthy enough to cuss. "Damn bug!"

At that same time, he had seen an eruption of blood which spread across the air. It expanded like a mist before it was painted all across the boy's chest.

[Two dragon saplings killed, eighty system points have been given to you as a reward,] The system announced.

And then she confirmed, [Total system points = Four-hundred and ninety]

Surely the system had counted the other bug who had been crushed earlier on. Somehow she could figure out when an enemy died, even throughout this mess.

Regardless, the disaster did not stop here. William noticed that another insect approached in a similar manner. Once more, he did not want to let the enemy attain an advantage.

Before the actual impact, he could swiftly mumble. "Shit's gonna be different now, we're one on one up here, freak bug!"

Through the thrill and stress that this situation caused, he tried to take a swing against the enemy!

This time, the very tip of the sword struck against the bug's back, and it sunk a couple of feet deep. Necessarily, it meant that he had punctured this creature through and through!

"Haha! Buzz your way out of that one!" He celebrated.

Yet somehow this creature had still some life left in it! This thing's numerous black legs kicked randomly, and its red wings shared a fair amount of panic as well.

The dragon sapling tried to fly across the disaster but could only do so much!

Once William noticed what went on, he could only utter. "What the hell?"

It was difficult to take in every detail of this situation, so the boy didn't try to be extensively analytical about it for once.

Eventually, he managed to straighten his body well enough. His feet faced towards the cloud of enemies and at the moment, he was about fifty meters above the disaster.

Now since he attained this much balance all thanks to that one bug, he managed to buy himself into quite an interesting position.

Regardless, he could still figure out the obvious portion of this event. And it became more transparent by each second he plummeted down.

He blurted this prediction as well, "This shit's going to hurt, a lot."

Although with the current circumstances, he metaphorically seemed like he hitched a ride on a demon's demise, the situation was still not entirely to his favour.

He did seem like some prophet who fell from the heavens, with a demon-like bug on the end of his sword, but that would not do him any good.

Regardless of how badass he seemed, William would still need to withstand the results which gravity presented.

"Hmm, what if..." The snakezoid came up with a sudden plan.

The idea seemed plausible, so he decided to put it into work. At first he had to swing his sword downwards.

Considering that the creature was still attached to it, the result was only predictable.

"Wow, wow wow!" He repeated.

Once he swung down, gravity did its part and forced the boy to spin through the air.

The creature was heavy, so it was inevitable for William to indulge towards an irreversible series of spins!

Eventually he crashed against the storm of bugs and was destined to hear the loudest crack yet!
