CHAPTER 14
"I am sorry to have been so reckless, please forgive me."
Even though he was speaking, Emma could not form or comprehend anything again. Quickly her anger was abased as she stared in awe of the lovely being she felt heaven just bestowed upon her.
"Hello, Miss? Hello?" He waved in front of her face to snag her attention back but no response. "Hey!"
It wasn't until he screamed that she actually got her senses back and blinked.
"Yes? Umm… you said?"
"I am so sorry for my wrong driving earlier. Please forgive me. I just…" he let out his breath and managed to smile at her. "I guess I was just distracted by a beauty I saw crossing the road and did not know when I stepped on my accelerator rather than brakes."
Even saying that was not helping. Emma's smile further widened at what he said. He sure was one heck of a talker she could bet.
"No worries. I… I just, umm. I should have looked better. No worries, thank you."
"Thank you so much. You are so polite. Please where are you headed let me drop you off if you do not mind? I cannot bear living such a lovely damsel in such a condition."
She was just about to accept his proposal when they heard several horns all at once, bringing both of them back to reality. Well, Emma mostly.
"Oh sorry. Do not worry about me. I am unharmed. I think the longer you stay, you are going to cause more traffic and more angry people."
He smiled at her. She had a nice sense of humour, he would give her that. "Are you sure?" He asked, completely ignoring the angry noise the people were making.
"I am quite sure. Now please get going before more damage is done. You are actually at fault, I fear that the police would soon come. And if they do, you would be found wanting, your car is at the centre of the road."
"Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. Thanks. See you around."
With that, he scurried off to where his car was, waved at a few angry persons but when they saw him, they could not utter any words as they were all transfixed by his handsomeness.
Meanwhile, Emma had soon forgotten herself and watched as he drove off into the distance until she heard a familiar sound.
"Ahem!"
She jolted, recognizing that clearing of a throat. It was a sound her boss made when she was in trouble.
"Right on it sir."
"Right on what? I came here, hurrying thinking something bad has happened when I hear that screech only for me to see you daydreaming about a guy. On top of that, you refuse to hurry to work even when you are late. One strike for you."
She did not let him finish his long lecture and dashed off towards the shop. The worse was when she would stay there to have an unending lecture.
All through that day, Emma could not get the handsome stranger off her mind. She wished she could forget him as she most likely won't see him again.
Unfortunately, that was impossible to get a guy as handsome as that off her mind. But when she recalled his careless promise of seeing her around, she became hopeful and looked forward to that day.
The next day came but Abaddon refused to go see her. It was not like he did not know where she worked or her office, he did but he needed to get her gripped and hinged on him.
That way he was sure going to get it easy when she was deeply in love with him.
It took her three good whole days before she could see him next and this time, he casually strolled into the jewellery shop to purchase a piece of jewelry when he saw her.
"Hello, missy."
Emma froze. There was no way in hell, this was true to her. This was the very same guy that…
Not even wanting to think about it she turned around swiftly from what she was doing, arranging pieces of jewellery and she saw him.
Her lips parted as her jaw dropped. He looked even more handsome than when she last and first saw him.
"Hello." Her face instantly lit up. She had dreamt of him for countless nights already. And now her dream was coming through, he came back!
'Bingo, Abaddon. You just nailed your first target. Keep it up and in a matter of days… your first soul would be gotten.'
"How are you?"
"Been good but never better."
"I see. I could not wait to see that lovely smile again. My apologies that it took a while, been busy with work and stuff."
"No worries. Welcome. You came to…" She did not complete it, a part of her wished not to when she saw the bouquet of roses in his hands.
It looked like he had come to purchase a gift for someone, a girl obviously.
"I came to get a gift for someone. I never knew you were working here, I just breezed into the area in hopes of seeing you again." He said the last words slowly, putting emphasis on them to make her feel this whole thing was a coincidence.
Unfortunately, she felt kind of hurt and sad about it.
"Okay. Alright, what can I help you with?" Instantly her dreamy looks disappeared and she looked more professional than he had ever seen her before.
"Umm, a necklace. Something special, that tells of one's feelings for a person."
"Oh… Okay, come with me. I know just the one."
He followed after her till they came to another part of the shop where more expensive pieces of jewellery were sold. She continued moving till she got to the heart of the shop and stopped in front of a glass case seated atop a wooden chair.
"Here, our most prized possession," she informed him, making sure he got a good look at the thing. "A golden heart necklace, with beautiful diamond decorating the heart necklace."
