Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 - Double Dates, part 1

Not long after, they are now ready for their dates, and went out of their apartment unit. And then, Masayuki said to Emiko, "Emiko-chan, give me a call if something happens, okay?"

"Okay!" Emiko agreed with her older brother.

After that, he they went downstairs and went in their separate ways.

Emiko went to Shigure's house as Handa was currently preparing for his date. And as he put on his red polo shirt a with buttons, Shigure went into his room and commented, "Mmm, you're going on a date, right?"

Upon noticing him, Handa responded back, "Oh, hey, Shigure-san. I'm going on a date with Emiko-chan."

"Oh, so you like her, do you, Handa-kun?"

"Shut up, Shigure."

And then, Shigure heard the someone rang the doorbell at the front door, so he went downstairs to open the door. And upon opening the door, Emiko greeted him, "Good morning, Shigure-san."

"Oh, Emiko-chan, good morning," responded Shigure back. "Nice clothes you're wearing. You're going on a date with Handa-kun, am I right?"

"Yes," answered Emiko back. "We will be back this tonight."

And then, Handa came downstairs with his polo shirt on while carrying a shoulder bag containing his wallet.

"Oh, hey Emiko-chan," he greeted Emiko. "Nice clothes you have."

"Thanks!"

Shortly thereafter, Handa and Emiko left the house together hand-in-hand a Shigure wavered them goodbye and good luck.

At the same time, Masayuki was at a train station waiting for Souya to come to him. He passed the time by listening to music in his smartphone and reading digital books. And then, finally, Souya showed up in her white and blue blouse and, sky blue skirt with wavy patterns, and a red and blue summer hat. And upon seeing Masayuki's black polo shirt with buttons and collar and a dark grey necktie, Souya commented, "You looked like a gangster."

Upon seeing her, Masayuki greeted her, "Oh, hey, Souya-chan."

"You looked like a gangster," Souya repeated her comment.

"Really? Am I?"

This response causes Souya to blush a bit and she instantly regretted what she had said to him.

"Oh, nothing. Nothing at all."

Not getting what she had said last time, Masayuki smiled at her. "Okay, let's go, shall we?" He then offered her a hand.

Accepting his offer, Souya responded back with a slight smile, "Yes." And so, they walked into the train station together.

Later, at the mall at a café in the mall, Masayuki and Souya are having a snack time, which consisted of chocolate chip cookies, blueberry muffins, and cups of cappuccino. The atmosphere around them was busy, was but very good.

"So, how's your life now?" Souya asked Masayuki a question.

"Oh, um," answered Masayuki back while thinking for a bit, "It's fine. Nothing out of the ordinary."

"How about your New Year's Eve?"

"Oh, I spent it at my beloved cousin's place."

"Woah, really?"

"Yes, and it was so much fun, rather than going to Hawaii with my family."

"Your family went to Hawaii?"

"Yes, and me and my sister decided to decline the offer despite the criticisms from my half-siblings."

"Oh, right! You have half-siblings, right?"

"Yes, and I don't like them because of their attitudes towards me and Emiko-chan."

"Really?"

"Yes, and they also looked down on biracial people and part-timers as well."

"What on earth are those kinds of people actually exist?"

"I don't know. I think they wanted everything to be perfect."

"Oh, I see then."

"Well, I am not perfect. You are not perfect either, right?'"

"Yes, that's true."

After Souya's response, Masayuki took a sip of his cappuccino and continued his conversation, "I don't like being perfect, because it is so ridiculously hard and very impossible. I act what I am and I do what I need to do and also, I act what my cultural instincts had taught me to do."

"Wow, that's a fantastic saying of yours," Souya gave him a compliment.

Smiling at her, Masayuki responded, "Thanks."

Meanwhile, at the same time, Handa and Emiko are at a restaurant having a light meal. Just like the café, the atmosphere around them was busy, but very good.

"So, are you planning to open a pet shop?" Emiko asked Handa.

"Yes," answered Handa back positively.

"Where?"

"In the Philippines."

"You mean my father's home country?"

"Yes, I heard that setting up a business there was easy."

"Oh, okay, I'll give you my support then."

"Thanks."

Handa then took a bite of his sushi roll, and continued, "Also, I'm planning to attend university in the Philippines as well."

"Wow, me too as well," Emiko responded back positively., "as well as big brother."

"Woah, really?"

"Yes."

"Wow, I think we had a common goal in our mind now."

And so, the four of them continued their double dates together. They are having a good time.
