Chereads / A Life After Life / Chapter 2 - Infinite Void

Chapter 2 - Infinite Void

How could anyone blame Anon for the way he was feeling after finding out that only he could see this certain person? It was something terrifying due to the fact that moments ago he was threatened that his whole family might be in some sort of danger if the man and Anon didn't find an agreement between themselves.

Anon panicked into asking so many questions because of the insecurities he was facing at that moment, but the guest tried his utmost to calm the situation as he came there to seek help.

"Relax, these many questions at one go? I don't even remember half the questions you asked me. It's good that you have these many questions anyway since you're now stuck with me forever. My name is Rayleigh, and yes, I am the owner of this house. Under this house lies my body. I asked my family to bury me under the house I built; this house saved me from everything."

"I loved the house so much I wanted it to be my deathbed. And, I also had something planned for my burial under this house to complete my mission, even if I died before completing my mission. I predicted my death because I found a secret I shouldn't have come to know, which is why a mafia was assigned to murder me murdered me, as I was way ahead of some of the researchers and I knew a few secrets myself but I would never reveal them as they would exploit this world for their own power so I was destined to be killed by them."

I am a Yokai, Yokai- a person becomes a spirit after death. A Yokai is the only one who couldn't go the spirit realm because he was not complete while his death. A man who dies with no regrets is safely ascended to the spiritual realm which is eternal peace or eternal torcher, his actions would decide that and the sins he committed in the life he lived.

Suppose a man has no intention of dying but dies along the way without fulfilling his wish or dies with a dream or dies before he could avenge someone who he despised the most, that person becomes a Yokai, who could never leave the earth because he was never at peace at the time of death, so his soul remains in between earth and spiritual world which is known as the Infinite Void. I am a spirit now because I died with a dream.

I was a scientist researching the afterlife of a human body and human soul. I came up with the idea, and due to the idea, we are here talking to each other. I researched entering the spirit realm as a human, I left a book in the room so that whoever comes to my house would read it, and you happen to read the book a few days back and physically touched the book in my closet of this room, which is why you can see me now.

Although I would love to tell you more, there is not much time left. I will explain everything you need to know later on, but for now, hopefully, this much is enough for you to understand that our lives are in danger because someone is approaching us. I can feel the vibration of our energy, and let me tell you that there is no peace in the spiritual realm. The people who died with regrets would never be at peace, even in the afterlife because they were never at peace when they were alive.

It is a place where either; be prepared to kill or get killed in the spiritual realm and since you are now a part of this spiritual world, your life is in danger. We can be unstoppable if you lend me your body; we can forge as one and kill whoever is approaching us. It is what my research was known for to combine a spiritual body with a human body, it enhances the strength of a man. The one approaching us has pure vengeance in his soul, he surely does not hesitate to kill you or me, and he seems powerful.

Since you coexist on earth and the Infinite void your energy attracts the most energies since your only one possibly who exists in these two worlds. In the infinite void, they feed off each other because the only satisfaction in this world is energy, one does not have any emotions in the infinite void. Everything here is empty and shallow. Anon, you have another decision left in your hand to make, you can keep us both alive, or we both might end up dead, and your parents would never even know you ever existed. Death by a Yokai will completely write off your existence. The choice is up to you now."

Anon was furious after listening to what the Yokai had to say, he could not hold in his anger and immediately lashed out with rage...

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY KILL OR BE KILLED?!!! First, you suddenly show up out of nowhere talking about your useless research and Yokai or whatnot; everything is beyond my understanding. Now you ask me to join forces with you to kill someone dangerous to my life and your life? Who I don't even know about will kill me, or whom I don't even know must be killed by me? Do you think a normal child can do that sort of thing?"

"I'm just 16 years old, and you expect me to kill someone? Just a while ago in the kitchen, you threatened to kill my family if I didn't make the right decision, now my life and my whole existence is in danger? Who do you even think you are, bringing me into this mess and then forcing me to make decisions in your favour to fulfil your goals? How much more selfish can one be? Only thinking about yourself!!!!!"

"Ever thought about the consequences before doing your stupid research and involving innocent people like me in this sort of mess. Why do things like these always keep happening to me? I'm always met by some misfortune every once in a while. Why does it have to be me always? Get out of here. I think it's better if whatever comes and kills me and my entire existence is wiped out."

"Maybe that would finally satisfy me, and also, you deserve another death in the spiritual realm the same as the one you suffered on earth. Count me out of your plans. If we both are to be killed today, so be it."

Anon couldn't digest the fact that his life was surrounded by unfortunate events time after time. He couldn't get a grip over his life as one thing ended; another bad thing was on the horizon. He deeply regretted his life this time out, which earned him overthinking how his existence would not even matter. All he ever wanted was peace and freedom but for some odd reason, he only got the opposite of what he wished for, unfortunately.

After listening to what Anon had to say Rayleigh retrospected himself and found himself regretting over the decision he made,

"Well, I guess you're right. I do deserve this death. You are right; I dragged you into this mess because I was so selfish. I didn't think this through how the person who'd get involved with me would feel. All I wanted was to see my mother one last time. I love her, but I never found her, maybe she died and ascended to the spiritual realm."

"The only reason I wanted to involve a human was it would attract the Yokai quite easily because they look for higher energy and then finally maybe I could see my mother for one last time. I feel you now, but I'm sorry it was too late for me to realize; I didn't expect you to react in such a way, but I understand what you mean."

"I have seen you every day for a few months ever since you moved here and how much you are suffering in your life, but there is still one chance we can fix this. Would you please allow me to redeem myself from my mistake and the misery I have put you into by merging me in your body? I promise to find a way to fix all of this, this was my mess, and I'm the only one who deserved to be here alone."

"Right now, there is not a single solution I can think of to get you out of it, but I want to help you now, so you need to cooperate with me. If I could think of a way to bring you in, then there's a way out too."

Just as soon as Ray finished talking to Anon, something broke through the window of Anon's room, and it was the Yokai with a pure vengeance who arrived to kill them. The spiritual world and the earth are two different worlds at the same place, but the things which happen in the spiritual world do not affect the earth at all, damage to Anon's house would be seen only by him the earth's perspective of Anon's room would remain the same with no damage at all.

"I guess your silence is an answer enough for me, Anon. It was futile to bring you into this world. I'm sorry to drag you into this. In my mind, things worked out differently as compared to reality. Reality has always been different from our minds. Either way, I hope you can forgive me, and I will accept my death right here and right now."

Rayleigh accepted defeat all the years of his research, and hard work was useless. No one could ever run from destiny, could they?
