It came again, the attacker, the loud grunts, the pains, and the eyes, hopeless and painful eyes, the explosives.....
12:12
"Damn, I knew I shouldn't have slept early".
I went to the bathroom to wash my face and my neck to my stomach. I changed into shorts and singlet, then went back to bed
It came again, the attacker, the loud grunts, the pains, and the eyes, hopeless and painful eyes, the explosives.....
4:16
I groaned.
"Twice in a morning. Wonderful".
I cussed at the two people responsible for this. I didn't bother to get more sleep. Either of two things will happen; either I don't sleep a wink, or I wake up with a nightmare again, I couldn't dare make this day any more beautiful. Thank goodness, my copy of the office key was in my pocket when I stormed out of the office. I didn't have the vibe to look at, not that I ever did, so I wore a plain pigeon blue long sleeve t-shirts with a space blue pants.
With the need of a rushing air, I took my car keys.
My bad was still there. I turned my phone, the percent was still the same as before I turned it off but there was missed calls and unread texts which I got rid off immediately. I tried to sleep but to no avail, I needed fresh air so I went to the rooftop
"Ahhh" I signed. Sweet fresh air. Surprisingly, there was a mini living room at the rooftop. Strange if I'm asked, but no complaint, especially now

I went to the place where I could receive air better, then places my head. After some time, I felt sleep creeping in and I let it
MEL'S P.O.V.
With struggle, I managed to leave the office without touching Jace's phone. I thought about asking him tomorrow but decided against it. I was really tired so I just ate diner and went to sleep
6:36
I woke up way beyond my alarm. Reason? I know not, but my major guess is probably because of yesterday. I took a shower, wore a brunette brown bow tie blouse tucked into a pine green pencil skirts.
It was still early, so I decided to buy something later at work. I made sure I was set, then took my car and set for work, although nobody would be there by now.
Jace's bag was still there. I would have thought he came early but I don't think Jace would come early to work and besides, I saw him storming out yesterday. I guess he didn't come back. Since nobody was around, I made my way to the rooftop. I seldom go there, but since no one was around, I didn't see anything stopping me besides, I needed fresh air, the car drive wasn't enough. I couldn't really remember how the rooftop was, but what I didn't expect to see was Jace there, sleeping and I'm absolutely sure Jace's profile wasn't part of the rooftop setting. I cautiously made my way to him. I think I had seen him sleeping but his head was on his table, this time his head rested on the couch. I thought people were suppose to be looking peaceful when sleeping, but Jace looked nothing like that. In fact he looks more peaceful awake. It was as if he was struggling in his sleep
"John" I heard him whisper. Who's John? A brother? A friend? A relative?
"John" he whispered again. A part of me wanted me to just sit and let him say what he was saying, another part wanted me to just ignore him and maybe go somewhere else, but another part, which I chose to follow, wanted me to wake him up. I knelt on the couch, hovering slightly above him
"Jace" I called, nothing happened
"Jace " I called again, this time, shaking him lightly while he stirred
"Jace" I called for the third time, putting more force in my hand, and more pitch in my voice. I was about to try and wake him up again, but he beat me to it- his eyes flew opened, immediately connecting to mine. I mentally gasped. For a while, I didn't move, I just looked at his eyes. From a distance, his eyes were already a dangerous electric blue which looked like they could zap you into a life long abyss, but up close, his eyes were more dangerous.
They were still the same electric blue, but they had green surrounding the pupil and the edges of the blue. I stared at his eyes, from one eye to another and I don't think I will want to stop any time soon
"Um, Mel?" I heard Jace call
"Yeah" I absentmindedly replied
"Mel" he said
"I need to sit straight". With that, I came back to my senses. I quickly went sat down straight
"Sorry" I whispered. He laughed but I couldn't hear the usual humor in them. Everything came back to me, the phone call, the anger, and the change. Something is definitely wrong.
"What's the time?" he asked
I checked my wristwatch
"7:05" I told him
"It's still early. What are you doing here?"
I looked at him. He wasn't looking at me
"And you are meant to be here?" I asked playfully
"No". There was no hint of playfulness in his voice
"Are you alright?" I asked before I could change my mind
"Yeah. Why would you ask?" he turned to look at me
"You aren't behaving like your normal self"
"And do you know me, Mel? We've just known each other for over two months. My normal self? No, you don't. You don't know me!" he said raising his voice a little
He was correct but it hurts. I don't know why, it just hurts. I didn't say anything
"I'm sorry" he signed, "I didn't mean it"
"No, you're right. You know what, I'm just gonna go back down. Sorry for waking you up" I said standing up , trying not to show that I was quite hurt, but before I could turn, he grabbed my hand, stopping me
"I'm really sorry Mel" he apologized again, looking into my eyes. I just smiled letting him know that it was okay. He signed again
"Can I borrow your shoulder?" he asked
"Sorry?" I asked confused.
He pulled me beside him and rested his head on my shoulders
"Can I lean on you?" he interpreted
"Um, sure" I asked
"Jace" I called after few seconds. He hummed letting me know he wasn't sleeping yet
"I just want to let you know that you can tell me anything. I'm right here"
He signed again. He's signing a lot today
"I don't think there is any one for me any where, Mel. I'm alone" he said then he side snuggled deeper into my shoulders. After hearing deep breathing, I knew he was sleeping. Apart from the fact that what he said made me want to show him that he was wrong, another thing was one my mind that I didn't bother to change, he is still holding my hand. With our hands still holding each other, I placed my head on his head and fell asleep.
"Uhh" I groaned as the sun made contact with my eyes. Where am I? I was about to get up looking to answer my questions when I head a pressure on my shoulders. I looked down and saw a head. Then I remembered, Jace
"Jace?" I called to be sure
"You're finally awake" was his reply. I blushed mildly
"Since when were you awake?" I asked him. His head was still on my shoulder, but I knew his eyes were opened. Maybe he was looking at the sky? Or just at the buildings
"Maybe an hour and thirty minutes ago?" he replied, but it was more of a question.
I gasped, "You should have woken me up"
"You were still sleeping and I didn't want to wake you up"
"Even still" I mumbled, but I was sure he heard. I joined him to look at the buildings. It was at a moment like this that I was grateful that I was born in Australia; I could stay here all day, which reminds me...
"What time is it?" I momentarily forgot that I had a wrist watch
"10:30" he replied
"What?!" I jumped
"Chill" Jace said removing his head from my shoulders
"We are late" I argued
"Work stated just thirty minutes ago and besides I..."
"It doesn't matter! Being late is late" I interrupted him
"already called Alex" he continues
"It doesn't.. Wait, you called him"
"Yeah, when I woke up"
"Oh, I see. You should have told me sooner" I complained. He looked at me with his eye brows raised. I raised my hands and smiled sheepishly
"Sorry?"
He laughed and I joined him. This is his laughter
"Come on, let's go" he said standing up. It's was when I stood up with him that i realized that our hands were still connected, but they weren't for long. He opened the door, held it and signaled for me to enter first, but I didn't. i just stood there with an eyebrow raised. He signaled to me once again, but I still stood there.
He signed in defeat when he realized that I was probably not moving any time soon
"Come on, Mel. I'm trying to be a gentle man here"
"I know. That is why I'm not moving. You and gentle man don't fit in the same sentence"
"Then just make two sentences. 'Jace held the door for me. He's such a gentle man'" he said gently shoving me inside
I laughed, "See, this is more like it"
"And it's all your fault" he pouted
"Awn, are you sad" I reached out to touch his face, but he swatted it away
"Bad gentle man"
"I'm not a dog"
"That's why I said gentle man"
"Yeah sure" he rolled his eyes. I chuckled
"You do know that gentle men don't pout" I said and immediately I said it, his pout dissolved into the thin air. I laughed
"Bad dog" he called me
I stopped, "Did you just call me a dog?"
"Whatever you heard" he replied
"You are so NOT a gentle man" I huffed and walked faster heard his laughter trailing behind me
"Hey, wait up" he called but I obviously snubbed him. He jogged to met me
"I don't think ladies are meant to walk that fast"
"Oh, really. then tell me, how slow are they meant to walk?" I was now getting riled up and I'm sure he could sense it
"Hey, hey. I'm sorry. Just joking" He raised his hands up. I took a deep breathe
"Let's go" was the only thing I could say
"Are you angry?' he asked me walking beside. I ignored
"Um?" he nudged me with his shoulder, but i still didn't answer.
We reached our office, but before I could open it, he blocked me. I looked at him
"C'mon, m'lady" he said in an Irish accent. I cocked my head to slightly to the side
"You will do something for me" I told him
"What?" he asked expectantly
"Stay silent for an hour"
"Excuse me, how do you expect me to do that?"
I crossed my hand
"Who was the person who said talking takes energy. I'm helping you save energy"
"So you listened. Good student, but I don't think I need to save energy right now, I just finished sleeping"
"Do that and I will forgive you" I pushed him aside and enter the office
"Just an hour?". He also entered and closed the door
"Want me to make it two?"
"Start time, 10:48" he quickly said and went to his table.
I secretly smiled
