MEL'S P.O.V.
"I don't think there is any one for me any where Mel. I'm alone"
"I'm alone, Mel. That's just it"
"Don't say or do things just like that. For all you know, you might not even mean it"
These words that Jace said were ringing in my head through out my shower. No matter how much I tried not to think about it, or not think about any thing at all, I could not; it was as if the words were embedded in my head and would not leave, no matter what.
"Oh God" I muttered as I dragged my hands from my face to my hair. I was being ridiculous. I was being ridiculous and I hated it. And the funny part? I knew that I was being ridiculous but I couldn't help it, and that made me to be very frustrated and angry with myself, Jace and everything. I mean, I couldn't even shower properly
I wrapped the towel around my body and dragged my body out of the bathroom. I wore a romper shielded by a kimono robe; it was kinda cold, then went to bed
As expected, I couldn't sleep so I just stared at the ceiling waiting for sleep to knock on my door.
I was changing and I'm not sure I like it. I used to be Melanie O'Roarke, the workaholic. I was plain normal Melanie O'Roarke who worked her ass of to the organization. But now, I was changing and I do not think I'm changing for the better. If I were to change at all, would it not be after some time of working with Jace, but I can't even recall working my butt off even since the moment Jace came in. Even though people told me to take things easy, working was my heritage and pride. Nevertheless, I still need to know what exactly is wrong with Jace. I'm extremely sure that something is wrong, I just don't know what it is. If I use the words that are still ringing in my head right now, he says he is alone, and that comes with several thoughts. Is he really alone? Did someone leave him? Does he have a family? Who was the person calling him? Does that person have anything to do with his pessimism? Who is the human to him? What the heck is wrong with him? What the heck is going on with him? What the heck is going on with everything? All these annoying unanswered questions were dancing ballet in my head
I groaned as I went to the kitchen. I pour milk into a cup and downed it down my throat along with two slices of cookies. After that I went back to bed hoping for sleep to come, and thankfully for me, it came
It was now six months. Six months since I had known Jace. Four months since we had the rooftop experience, four months since we had that conversation, and four months since we were that close. Jace had more or less kept his distance for reasons I know nothing of. We still talked; we even buy lunch for the other at times, but Jace was not his formal, or normal, self. He was still the Jace of the first two months. It wasn't the irritating cocky Jace, but rather, it was more of the trying to be Jace of the first two months Jace. Any time I tried to mention or talk about it, he quickly adverts to something else, excuses himself then leave, pretends not to hear me, or just simply ignore me.
After trying to push it into him for some time, I decided to give it a rest before it turns to another personality in Jace body Jace, but if he thinks that I am letting it go, he so has another thing coming his way
About the murder case, the witness went to the FBI after two months, and is still with them for protection- though he will be out some times around this week. After the FBI got what the witness saw, we were told, it wasn't really helpful. The witness could not see the murderer's face, but he could describe his physique. He was a bit taller than average, had a bit, very unnoticeable, amount of hair sticking out the side of the mask he was wearing, his hark was a black color, he wore all black- not surprising-, he also had a tattoo from his left ear to the middle of his neck, and one of his left hand, from his upper arm to a little bit below the elbow. Thankfully and surprising, he saw the tattoo clearly, so the FBI were able to get the samples
The neck one seemed like one from a tribe, it was like some different size of triangle connected, or not connected in a strange way. However it was describe, I have no idea, just a sight of the tattoo, and although it was not something I would do in a lifetime, and the next, the tattoo was pretty nice
The one on the arm was also nice, and also seemed like a tribal tattoo. I can't describe this one, just saw a picture sample
A knock came on the door
"Hey guys" Helen greeted
"Hey" I answered
"Sup" said Jace
"Alex has called for a meeting" she said
"Okay" I replied
"Be there" Jace replied
"Sure." Then she left with a smile
"Wassup ladies and gentlemen" Alex greeted rather too enthusiastic as he entered the room
"This had better be good. I was sleeping" Sky muttered but enough for us all to hear. I smiled
"This is a workplace, Ki-ki. No sleeping" Jade reprimanded causing Sky to jab him in the rips, and with a glare
"Do not call me Ki-ki" she said
"Now, now, children. Calm down, please" Alex said causing all of our attention to focus on him
"We are not children" Olive corrected
"Sure" Alex dismissed then continue
"Guess what?"
"What?" Sky asked
"I said guess"
"We are not babies, Alex. Neither are we not busy" Olive said
"Who said that only babies guess. And what are you doing? Sleeping" Jade said
"Do you want me to make you sleep for months?" Olive asked
"Olive's right, Alex. We are not babies, and we all have various work to do" Jade quickly said. Everyone laughed
"Any way, this is the what. We are having a team dinner!" Alex stated. Nobody reacted, not even Jade
"Come on, guys. You are meant to be glad. It's team dinner. Everyone likes team dinner" he complained
"Well, I guess you haven't met us" I said
"See you guys later" Jace said, now on his feet
"It's Jace welcome dinner" Alex quickly said. Jace stopped
"What?" he asked
"It's your welcome dinner"
"Wow, Alex. I don't think I have seen any other amazing boss who gives their employee welcome dinner after six months" Jace said crossing his arms
"Tell me about it" Ken agreed also on his feet
"Well, I am here now"
"You can have it without me, I'm out"
"Now, now, don't be naughty" Alex walked up to Jace, draped his arm around Jace's neck, and let him back to his sit
"Have you ever seen a birthday party without the birth day boy in it?" Alex asked
"I haven't seen a birth day party done six months and some weeks after the birth day for no reason" Jace said not sitting
"Then, welcome to one"
"Can't you just go by yourself? Jade is not even eager to go" Sky said
"Hey" Jade complained
"What am I? A party goer?"
"No. A lighthearted boy" Sky answered
"One, I'm serious. Two, I have a very interesting movie to watch this night and I'm not missing it. I've waited too long for it"
"Figures" Olive whispered
"I heard that" Jade said. Olive shrugged
"I can't go by myself" Alex answered Sky question
"Then why not just cancel it" Jace suggested
"I'll give you all a raise" Alex answered
"What time is it?" Olive asked
"Where is it?" Sky asked
"Do you already have a place in mind?" Ken asked
"Should I take us to a place? It's the best for team dinners" Jade asked
"Are you guys poor?"
"Seriously?"
Jace and I asked them at the same time
"No" Olive answered
"Seriously" Sky confirmed
"It doesn't matter if we are poor or not" Ken shrugged
"I am sure there is no rule against making more money legally" Jade said
Jace and I huffed
"So we are going?" Alex asked
"Definitely" the four of them answered at the same time
"You can't be serious" I said
"I'm still not going" Jace said
"As far as the people going surpasses the people not going, every body is going" Alex said
"Come on guys" I pleaded
"I'll give you'll the raise" Jace said
"You earn the same as us. Where would you get the money from?" Olive asked
"My pocket?" Jace asked in a duh tone
"Sure" Olive rolled her eyes
"Just go. Why don't you want to?" Ken asked
"None of you guys wanted to go either!" I slightly exclaimed
"Past tense, Mel. Now is the present" Jade said
"I will hit you" Jace told him. He kept quiet
"What time is it?" Sky asked
"After work" Alex answered
"Sure. We will ALL be there" she said then everyone stated to disperse
