The control tower near the center of Psychic City used to be a lab for researching medicine. It had been a small building. Started by volunteer nurses and biologists who were anxious to find the cures for things such as cancer and other deadly killers of the human body. However, after the Psychic Supreme took over, and the city became dedicated to esper research, the hospital became more sinister, devoting it's time to developing torturous drugs meant to induce level spikes.
Eventually the hospital grew larger, as more and more 'patients' began to fill it's rooms. Most of them 4 to 5 years old. The city of learning known as Next Gen City already had a massive cluster of schools from which to extract test subjects. After the 3rd growth of the hospital, and the city was renamed Psychic City, the world government discovered the treachery of the superintendent Arnold Baptis (Edo Aleister). Arnold Baptis, under the nose of the United Nations, had handed over the control of the most technically advanced center in Edolas to the mad man known as the Psychic Supreme. And now the secret was out about the inhumane experiments being carried out on children with the intention of creating an army.
However it was too late, Psychic City had already amassed enough espers and weaponry over 20 years to create a military that completely wiped out the current government power. Eventually, after 30 more years of war, Psychic City had become the supreme ruling capital of the entire planet.
During that time, the hospital formally known as Next Gen Medical, now called The Center For Primary Esper Development, had grown massive, it's hallways, however soundproofed, were filled with the tortured cries of children who had been forced from their homes and shown to have the potential for esper powers. Those who could not level up beyond level 2 were automatically disposed of to avoid inconvenience. However, it's most prominant feature was the large tower that rose at it's center.
The top floor was where Psychic City top officials could observe all the current espers in their ranks who left the hospital. It kept track of every student in the city, esper or otherwise, searching for new candidates. And right now, it was being used by Mikaris Misaka to search for Fairy Tail.
Mikaris sat at the cushioned chair in the round dark circular room that was filled with dials, buttons, and screens. typing away and looking at the screen in front of her that was filled with camera images of different parts of the cities.
Mikaris put her gauntlet to her forehead and sighed. She had been searching for hours in numerous hiding places which would be fantastic for fugitives to hide. And the Earthland gates hadn't been used at all since the arival of General Shokuhou. Where were they?
She felt..obsessed..no, that wasn't the word..angry. She had recently spoken with Mystogan in the high security prisons. He had been tortured in an attempt to gain infromation on what he had sent to Earthland with the two known as Natsu Dragion and Lucy Ashley. But Mystogan had shortly after his capture, induced an unbreakable enchantment on his mind that not even the magic negating cuffs could dispell. Mikaris would not be able to read his mind like she did before, and neither would Meribeth. So it had resorted to torture.
But the moment that Mikaris had mentioned Mikoto, Mystogan had smiled, and no matter what was inflicted on him afterwords, Mystogan continued to smile.
"Why!?" Mikaris had shouted at Mystogan. "We are inflicting impossible pain upon you...WHY ARE YOU SMILING!?"
"Because." said Mystogan weakly. "When I think of her...I see that you yourself might still have a chance..."
At that remark, Mikaris had burst from the room, unable to look at that wretched man any further.
Now, Mikaris sat in the control room, trying to do her duty...trying to forget about him.
"Working late?" Erza Nightwalker strolled over to Mikaris from behind her chair. "They say rest is a warrior's best fuel."
"I'm not a warrior, I'm a soldier." said Mikaris. "There's a difference."
"And what difference is that?" asked Erza raising an eyebrow.
"Warriors fight for themselves, fighting is what they choose. Soldiers however, they are mere drones to be sent at the enemy. They are conditioned, and weaponized, then sent into battle, nobody caring whether they perish or survive."
"I would care." said Erza. "There was a time in which I would think much the same way you did...but someone I fought with showed me the glory of living and loving..."
"You speak of your Earthland counterpart again." murmured Mikaris. "Yet, you hunt her now..why?"
"Because." said Erza putting a hand on Mikaris's shoulder. "I currently have someone I wish to protect..a life I hold quite dear...and I would wish for that precious life to get some sleep before bags grow under her eyes.."
"Eye." said Mikaris correcting her Second in Command with a singular noun. "I got rid of the other one..remember?"
Erza nodded. "My appologies General, I still remember that small girl from 3 years before who bore both her beautiful eyes proudly and cheerfully."
"You can't save me.." said Mikaris. "No one can."
Before Erza could respond to this, Mikaris suddenly pointed at the monitor. "Wait...our current student count has spiked by 6..this can't be possible..there are no records of any incoming students for 3 more days."
"That can't be them." said Erza. "The records here say that they've been here for 4 years..."
"Yes, except I doubt the name Natsu is a particularly common name...and niether is your name." said Mikaris.
Erza Knightwalker nodded. "I will take care of this..." Erza turned to leave, but just before doing so she turned back to look at Mikaris. "You better be in bed by the time I return..."
When Erza left, Mikaris sighed again. "What a nag...and yet..it is what I appreciate most of her."
The School District (Distric 85) of Psychic City.
"Natsu!" shouted Lucy. "No you shouldn't do it! It's too risky!
"But I must Lucy.." said Natsu. "There's too much at stake to lose here!...If I don't have my way...then we're doomed..but if I luck out..we'll home with so much more!"
"He's crazy!" muttered Lucy.
"THAT'S RIGHT!" shouted Natsu as slammed down all his cards at once. "I'm going with this hand!!!"
Mikoto shook her head as she sat on the other side of the small table and set down her hand. "Sorry Natsu, I had all aces."
"NOOOOOOO!!!!!" shouted Natsu. "WHHHHYYYY!!!?"
"Thats right Natsu!" said Mikoto cheerfully. "You have to buy me 13 new Gekota figurines when we get back now!"
"DARN IT!!" said Natsu slamming his fist down on the table. "Just one more winning hand, and you would have had to be our personal maid for a week!"
"EH!?" said Lucy. "Why would you want a personal maid!?"
"Because!" said Natsu holding up a finger. "Our house has been ultra filthy lately! Plus Happy has this dream of having somebody serve him fish martinis!"
"Aye!" said Happy. "I know those things exist!"
The Fairy Tail team was currently in a medium sized dorm room. Mikoto had found the key in one of the packages that Twilight Prankster had given them, and by using the maps out front in the School Center, they had found this dorm room which was fully furnished, and yet, hadn't been used in ages. On their way to the dorm, a wide assortment of students had come up to them, acting like they knew them due to the false memory implanting effect of the uniforms. Apparently alot of girls were thought they knew Natsu. After a while, the group had to run because what seemed like 50 girls tried to pile on top of Natsu at once.
"It's already around 12 at midnight.." said Gray looking out the window into darkly lit campus streets below. "They'll probably be sending in Gunha and Misaki to look for us around now..I hope they don't run into too much trouble."
"Ha!" said Natsu. "Gunha is totally going to blow everybody away!"
"Natsu, do you and Gunha have some sort of bromance going?" said Lucy. "Because I swear you two try to battle it out every time you see each other."
"If Natsu doesn't have somebody to battle it out with then he just sleeps." said Gray.2
"So I guess you keep him awake?" said Mikoto.
"Well somebody's gotta do it."
Wendy, who was sitting on one of the beds with Charle in her lap looked up. "Does anyone know when Erza and Birdway will be back?"
"I don't know." said Gray. "I hope they haven't run into trouble either. Then again, if Erza had been captured, she would rather die then give up our location...so we might have assume the worst and rescue her ourselves."
"Don't say that!" said Mikoto. "Erza's much too smart to let herself be easily caught like that!"
Suddenly, the door opened and Mikoto stood up releived as Erza walked into the room. "Erza! We were getting worr- wait, did you requip, that's not an armor I've seen before.."
Lucy stood in front of Mikoto while the rest of Fairy Tail got up with serious looks on their faces.
"Mikoto...that's not our Erza." said Lucy. "We all remember that armor..."
"Wh-what!?" said Mikoto.
"How very clever." said Erza Knightwalker as she readied her spear. "That you would use enchanted clothing to hide yourselves from us. Unfortunately for you...General Misaka is much too observant to be fooled by faking yourselves as students here.."
Okay..thought Mikoto. This is obviously that Erza Knightwalker I heard about...but..just watching somebody with Erza's face get ready to kill us...feels wrong. Just so very wrong.
"Don't get cocky with us." said Gray. "I don't know if you don't know this already. But you're kinda outnumbered.."
Edo-Erza smiled. "Am I?"
Suddenly the wall behind Fairy Tail was blasted apart and a girl walked through. Mikoto almost couldn't breathe. She was exactly like Kaori Kanzaki from Necessarius. Except she wore a kimono-like shirt, black samurai pants, and had two swords instead of one.
"Well, they're still right about us being outnumbered." said Edo-Kanzaki. "But I think we can all agree that the tables have turned."
"Darn it!" Mikoto growled. "Wendy! We need some room!"
"Right!" Wendy stood up and whirled her hands around. "Wing Slash Of The Sky Dragon!!"
Immediately, the entire roof of the building exploded in a gust of wind as Fairy Tail leaped out into the chrome street below. Mikoto didn't hesitate and activated her Thunder Dragon wings with a bursting flash.
"Wing Brigade Of The Dragon Born!!!"
The wings immediately morphed into hundreds upon hundreds of miniature lightning dragons that all soared like bullets into the wreckage and caused a huge explosive dustcloud to burst our of the area.
"Did we get them?" asked Lucy.
Suddenly there was a flash of speed, and Erza appeared right behind Mikoto and stabbed at Mikoto with a speedy spear thrust. One Mikoto's wings moved fast and slapped the spear to the side before it could skewer Mikoto.
Erza pulled back with her extreme speed. Mikoto saw just enough to see that her spear had changed to become more triangular and arrowhead like.
"You blocked my Velocity Spear." said Erza Knightwalker. "Impressive reflexes."
"Careful!" said Gray. "This girl can change her abilities by changing her spear just like how Erza requips her armor!"
"Don't worry!" shouted Natsu. "I got this!" Natsu jumped into the air, his fists blazing. He put the two flames together. "Brilliant Flame of The Fire Dragon!!"
Natsu threw a massive fireball at Edo Erza. However, Erza dodged it in a blaze of speed, and just as quickly, Kanzaki appeared right behind him in mid air and kicked him in the head.
Natsu flew into a nearby fountain in an explosion of water and got up coughing. "What the heck!?"
"It seems you forgot I was here." Said Kanzaki as she raised one of her swords.
Kanzaki slashed the sword downwards as a blast of energy came at Natsu. Gray and Lucy both body tackled Natsu out of the way as the blast shattered though the chrome itself, making it look twisted and molten.
"H-Holy crap!" shouted Natsu.
Kanzaki readied her blades and touched down lightly on the ground to face Natsu, Lucy, and Gray. "Three against one, that hardly seems fair...for you."
Meanwhile, Mikoto and Wendy were now left facing Edo-Erza.
"ROAR OF THE THUNDER DRAGON!!" Mikoto blasted out a large beam of lightning from her mouth.
"ROAR OF THE SKY DRAGON!!" Wendy blasted a huge stream of wind from her mouth.
The two moves combined and turned into a twister of rippling electric energy and wind that gained on Erza.
Erza's spear changed in a flash and a huge sphere of black gravitational energy shot out from the spear point and exploded against the Unison Raid in a shockwave of incredible power.
"Come on Wendy! She's slower now!" shouted Mikoto.
Wendy nodded and Mikoto morphed her wings into two giant hands which grabbed floor and launched her forward as Wendy performed another roar attack.
The wind from Wendy's magic propelled Mikoto forward like a bullet as Mikoto engulfed her hands in lightning.
The moment she burst through the dust cloud and came right on Erza, she moved her hands quickly. "Crushing Fang Of The Thunder Dragon!!"
Mikoto attacked with her outstreched hands. But Erza was quick as well. She moved her spear which had already glowed and morphed into a black spear with red blade edges that glowed a red sinister energy. The moment the point made contact with Mikoto's lightning engulfed hands, there was a huge explosion and Mikoto flew through the air.
Mikoto's vision swirled for a moment as she saw the moon and she landed with a thud on the grassy area next to the chrome street. Erza dashed at Mikoto quickly, her spear already changing with a swirl of wind at it's tip
"No!" Wendy shouted and she dashed at Erza, her hands glowing with Sky magic. "Crushing Fang Of The Sky Dragon!"
However, Erza Knightwalker easily ducked the move and kicked Wendy in the face, causing her to fly into a tree and completely decapitate it as what appeared to be a night time gardener nearby, ran away in fright.
Knightwalker pointed her spear at Wendy and a tremendous cyclone made it's way towards her.
Mikoto got up on her knees desperately and opened her mouth. "ROAR OF THE THUNDER DRAGON!!"
Lightning and wind crashed together, causing Erza's move to dissapate.
Knightwalker glowered at Mikoto and jumped at Mikoto before she could recover properly, using her foot to stomp Mikoto into the ground with crash as rubble erupted around Mikoto.
Mikoto coughed up a bit of blood as she felt several ribs break. "Dang it..why are the ribs always the first to break?"1
Erza raised her spear and stabbed at Mikoto's face. But just as it was about to reach her, the point stopped one inch above Mikoto's face.
Mikoto blinked in surprise as she saw the tormented expression on Edo-Erza, the sweat coming from her brow, as if she was going with some sort of deep struggle.
"N-No..you..look too much like her..." said Knightwalker. "Your faces...only, both your eyes are..both there..and I'm causing them so much pain.."
Edo-Erza gritted her teeth in fury. "Why..why did the enemy have to look like her of all people!?"
"What are you talking about?" Mikoto murmured.
Edo-Erza didn't answer. Instead she blinked in surprise as she realized that something was pulling on her hair.
"Let her go you big bully!" cried Elli as she pulled on Erza's hair and flapped around her hitting her with little pink paws. "The real Erza isn't like you! She wouldn't stab Mikoto! You get off of her right now!!"
In the distant air, where Happy and Charle hovered watching, Charle called out with a panic. "You fool! You're only getting in the way!"
"No Elli!" Mikoto shouted frantically. "Get out of there!"
Erza Knightwalker moved her spear point, as if readying herself to stab Elli in the face. Suddenly, though a huge blast of fire crashed into Knightwalker, causing her to fly off of Mikoto.
"My, my." said Leivinia Birdway walking foreward twirling her wand with Erza Scarlet and Mark Space at her side. "I leave you for just a little while...and we have a full party on our hands."
"Nightwalker.." growled the Earthland Erza.
"Scarlet.." said Edolas Erza. "I knew our meeting would be inevitable.
"BWAM!!" Natsu, Gray, and Lucy were suddenly knocked aside as Kanzaki landed into the scene. "Hmm..you look just like Leivess."
"So, I guess all the party guests are here." said Birdway with a sly smile. She twirled her wand and it suddenly morphed into a sword. "So let's finally serve the main dish."
