Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Ten Years Later

"Oh, God…" Louise slumped her head on the table, burying her face in her arms. The loud music was making her head ache, and the crazy shouting around her made her want to just leave.

"Come on, dance with us!" One of her friends screamed, beckoning her to come, but she only stared at the person. Her eyes squinted because of the glaring, colorful lights.

Louise wanted to go home. It was a mistake asking her friend to pick her up. She just arrived here in Country A from Country R, and they brought her here already.

God, it's horrible! Louise rubbed her forehead. She was still suffering from jet lag.

"Holy mother, this jet lag is killing me," Louise groaned, banging her head softly on the table. This wasn't her type of crowd, either. She should have insisted on going home, or went to Alex's place first.

Frowning, Louise erased the thought from her head. She kept thinking about him these days. Louise let out a deep sigh when it occurred to her he might not be necessarily alone right now.

He must be with his many lady friends… The idea was extremely tasteless to her. He had introduced countless women to her because he thought she was one of the boys, and it made her irritated every time.

"Bastard!" She slammed her palms on the table, grabbed a glass of margarita on the side, and gulped it in one go like a glass of water.

Julie, Louise's friend, glanced at her.

"What now? Are you okay?" Julie asked Louise. They were sitting together, as they didn't want to go to the dance floor.

"If you didn't want to come, you should have insisted on it," she continued.

"They dragged you here too…" They stared at each other, shaking their heads in resignation.

Julie was one of Louise's friends at university. A certified nerd with the big glasses and the perfect 4.0 GPA.

"Yes, I was just sleeping at home. When I woke up, I'm already in the car! I have classes tomorrow," Julie said. She wore a black pajamas and white top.

"Thank God I'm not wearing my favorite SpongeBob nightie." She grimaced as the horrifying idea of wearing it in the club surfaced in her mind.

"Ugh, Stella always has her way," Louise scoffed and glanced around. The others in their group danced under the spotlight, taking all the attention. Stella danced like a butterfly at the very center, flinging her head back and forth while swaying her hips. Her actions garnered her the admiring gazes of men and women alike. She loved all the attention on her.

"Nah." Julie shrugged her shoulders. "I heard it was Rhea who carried me."

"Damn! How can she be so strong?" Rhea stood beside Stella. Her petite body and 5'2 height made her a pocket-sized venus with an innocent face. But this woman carried Julie's 5'8 and curvaceous body to the car.

How did she do it? Supernatural strength? Louise' eyes roamed all over Rhea's body. Damn, no one will believe it if I say she can carry a six-foot man. She did it before.

Julie and Louise kept their mouths shut as they minded their own business. The latter checked out her phone, browsing through some scientific forums while Louise observed the place, hoping to meet a familiar face in the crowd.

Maybe Axel is around… Louise said inwardly, wishing to find his handsome, irritating mug among the crowd of swaying heads.

This wasn't his usual hangout place, though. It would be like winning the most unlucky b*tch of the year award if he came here. He liked those posh VIP clubs that only the elites of the elites could enter. He wasn't aware of Louise's arrival in the country.

She didn't tell him. They didn't keep tabs on each other, unless they had to meet or she made trouble, which happened most of the time. Alex didn't ask for her whereabouts, and neither did she. Most of the time, Louise was traveling.

Clenching another glass of margarita, Louise drank it in one go. Julie stared at her, flabbergasted.

"I thought you didn't want to be here? Why are you getting wasted now?" Julie placed her chin on her palm.

"I don't follow common sense, okay? I've been crazy since I was a kid!" Taking off her jacket, Louise stood up. Underneath it, she wore a sexy halter top. The white halter neck hugged her curves, showed off her 22-inch small waist, the deep cleavage like mountain peaks, and perfectly sculpted collarbones.

The strap holding the halter neck on her body ran from the front to the back, revealing her bare back with a vivid rose tattoo, looking alive. Her snow-white skin shone against the light, attracting attention.

Louise paired the halter top with tight-fitting jeans and boots. The jeans encased her long legs perfectly, showing off her toned thighs. The boots made her look badass.

Usually, Louise didn't dress like this, but she wanted to show off her new tattoo on her back: the red rose

Then Louise walked to the dance floor.

"Don't leave me here!" Julie shouted, and Louise ignored her. The latter swaggered to the dance floor and let down her hair, throwing her ponytail away.

Men looked at Louise with admiration and obsession, while women looked at her with daggers of envy. The girl with the pimples and baggy clothes from high school grew up from an ugly duckling to a swan. Her blonde hair sparkled when the light hit it, and the beautiful waves danced along with the music. Eyes as green as a forest sparkled as if they were gems.

Sadly, her fiancé wasn't aware of this side of her. To him, Louise was one of the boys. For Louise, she preferred to act like one when around him because he already assumed it.

Retard! Bastard! One of these days, Axel Rossi will see the real me! Louise vowed in her heart.

"Yes! You're finally here to party," Stella shouted. Rhea disappeared with a blonde man, and when Stella sought her out, she found her in a lip lock with the man. Louise and Stella's body swayed to the music, their hips shaking with the rhythm.

"This is my favorite!" Louise screamed, as her waist moved like a snake, her butt shaking with every beat of the drum. Her hands traveled from the top of her golden locks downwards.

Stella cupped her breasts and caressed downwards to her waist while facing Louise. The former loved her body; proud of her bountiful mountain peaks in her chest and her voluptuous ass.

Louise whipped her hair to the side when a man touched Louise. She slapped his paw away and glared at the person. Stella stopped dancing as well, closing on Louise as a protective gesture.

"Miss, dance with me," the man said. Alcohol wafted from his mouth and entered Louise's nostrils. She hated it to the bone. Louise chose to back away, but the man stepped forward, invading her private space.

"Don't play hard to get. When you're dancing like that… you're definitely looking for a mating partner," the man added in a jeering tone.

"I'm telling you to dance with me!" The drunk jerk grabbed her arm, so she grabbed his collar, stepped forward, bent her body, and threw the man over her shoulders.

"My butt! My back!" the man shouted like a pig in a slaughterhouse. Louise glared at him, then at the rushing men toward them.

"Boss!"

Louise didn't like the way this man acted. In her anger, she "accidentally" stepped on his fingers while she stepped away. Her boots were thick, so when she stepped on it, the bones crunched.

"Shit, boss!" Multiple men surround us.

"Beat that woman for me! Beat her good!" The man shouted, hugging his broken fingers. "I'm a senator's son...you're going to get it!"

His lackeys swarmed toward Louise. Oh my, this doesn't look good! But despite thinking this way, Louise grinned and raised her arms in a fighting position.

All her life, she practiced with her brothers. And in her heart, Archer's family motto guided her way: Never run from a fight, even if it's a losing one! No retreat, no surrender! No pain, no gain!

Suddenly, out of the blue, a man grabbed Louise and placed her behind him. The man towered over her at 5'6. Then, in a very domineering way, stopped the men from charging.

He pointed a gun at them. Louise's heart raced when she heard the safety click. The music disappeared and everyone distanced themselves while Louise' friends stayed behind her.

Louise's eyes squinted as she tried to catch a glimpse of the man's face, but the darkness and the occasional colored lights disrupted her.

"One step closer, and you'll be picking up your guts all over the floor. That is... if you're still alive by then," the man declared.

Awesome! Louise praised in her heart. He exuded danger, but she liked it. Men with dangerous vibes always attracted her.

Then, the sound of the police sirens broke the stalemate in the room. Everyone started scrambling like headless flies.

The senator's son laughed loudly.

"Serves you right! Good luck in jail!"

Louise panicked a bit and looked around for her friends.

Where did they go? They were just beside me! I might visit the bars on my first day home!

Louise looked back at her savior, but the place was empty. Her mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. He left me too?

"What.the.hell? They left me all alone!" Louise screamed as the police rushed in.
