Chapter 9 - Back to school

A day after being discharged from the hospital, It was time to go back to school.

"Rhi, do you need help with your bag?" Dominic offers.

"I can do it myself," I tell him before throwing the bag over my shoulder.

But of course, the bag ends up slipping off and falling on the floor. "Are you sure?" Dominic asks again.

"Fine. Could you help me with my bag, please," I say defeatedly.

Dominic chuckles. "Here. In return, you have to let me draw on your cast," he says with a smirk.

"You devil."

"You're the one making the deal," Dominic says before heading to the car.

With a sigh, I follow behind him. "Make sure you two stay safe, alright," Mum says when we drive into the school grounds.

"We will," I tell mum.

"I don't think anyone would try to hurt us at school," Dominic says.

"Make sure you two wear this ring and necklace just in case. Your aunty Clarissa made them." She hands the necklace to me and the ring to Dominic. "Now, get to class."

"Hold her down!" Leona orders as I enter the classroom.

Doing as told, Kristina and Nathan pin me against the wall. "It'll be over soon," Leona says as she removes the cap from a sharpie.

"No!" I exclaimed in horror.

"And, done," Nathan says after finishing his drawing.

"Damn it. How could you do this to me?" I stare at my cast, now filled with drawings of puppies, kittens, basketballs, and kind notes.

"Well, it was Dominic's idea," Nathan tells me.

"Is that so?" I stare at my brother sitting at his desk. "Could I have that sharpie for a sec?" I ask.

"Sure," Nathan hands me the sharpie.

Stealthily, I try to come up from behind and draw a moustache on Dominic's face. But he catches me in the act.

"Now it's my turn," Dominic says as he grabs the sharpie out of my hand. The kids in the class watched on in amusement.

"Did you have to draw a penis?" I glare at Dominic as I take my seat next to him.

"Of course," Dominic chuckles.

"God, your so childish."

"Your one to talk."

As soon as I get the sharpie back, I scribble over the lewd drawing. Throughout most of the day, I wasn't able to focus. My mind was still processing what my mum told me, about the vampires, werewolves, witches; all of it was just so surreal. But none of that could've prepared me for what came next.

"Could you come with me to the field, by the large patch of trees? Just me and you," Leona asks during lunch.

"Sure," I reply, kinda weirded out.

When we reach the field, she leads me into the patch of trees, so no one can see us. "What's going on? This is kinda weird. Even for you, Lena?"

"Okay, so, don't freak out. But I know about the whole vampire thing that happened that day?"

"What!?" I was completely shocked. "How!?"

"Okay, It's just like, your one of my bestest friends. So, I thought it would be better to just show you. I'm sure it'll clear things up. Just don't run away or anything."

'Runaway?' I thought as she started taking off her clothes, leaving only a matching sports bra and skins. 'What the hell is going on here.' Suddenly, Leona shifted into a wolf.

I fell back in utter shock. "You've got to be kidding me. You were one of the wolves there that night?" The giant wolf Leona in front of me just nodded her head before shifting back.

"Does Nathan, Kristina, or Dominic know?" I ask after standing myself up and brushing off my pants.

"Well, I was gonna tell Dom. But I'm not as close with him as I am I with you. And I felt it would be better that you knew, 'cause I have a feeling your gonna need some back up soon enough. And when stuff like this happens, it can also help to have someone to talk to. Plus, I want to rip the asshole who held you and Dominic hostage to shred's."

"Can I just take a moment to process all this?" I sit myself up against a tree.

Lena takes a seat beside me. "So… any questions?" she asks.

"I have a lot. For one, does it hurt when you transform?"

"I got used to the pain after a little while. If I had to compare it to something, I'd compare it to a burn. But, like, all over your body."

"Since your a werewolf and all, then you also know about my uncle and stuff."

"Well, yeah, he is the pack leader after all."

"So, uncles Rays like the Alpha."

"I think his wife's more of the Alpha." Lena chuckles.

The two of us spent the whole of lunch just talking about all the stuff that'd happened, from the hostage situation to my uncle's pack. I even told her about the whole ethereal children stuff; her face turned grim after hearing that word. I was gonna ask what she knew, but the bell rang.

"We should get to class," Lena reaches out her hand.

"Thank's for telling me. I'll tell Dominic."

"God, that was such a load off."

"I know what you mean. It just feels good to get all this stuff off my chests."

"Well, at least everything's out in the open now."

Meanwhile, in Lezway city…

"So, are you ready to talk?" Keres asks, sitting outside Clarissa's cell.

"I don't know why you even bother coming down here. My answer will always be the same."

"Then I'll do the same as well." Keres turns to a guard. "Send her to the torture chamber. I'll be dealing with her myself."

In the torture chamber…

The torture chamber was dimly lit, with medieval torture devices set up all around the room.

"You know, it's surprising how much damage the human body can take before actually dying."

"Has anyone told you, you talk too much?" Clarissa interrupted.

Keres chuckles at Clarissa snide comment. "Maybe, I should start by cutting out your tongue," Keres motions for a simple blunt knife. "Or I could cut you into thin pieces." He started looking at a Japanese Yanagiba.

"You know, I really thought Tina had died." Keres froze. "I was at her funeral and everything, even tho I watched from afar," she added.

"How did you know."

"Why do you think I tried so hard to escape? I had to tell someone." Clarissa bluffed.

"Who did you tell!" Keres exclaimed angrily.

"You know I'd never tell you that." Clarissa chuckled.

"Send her back to her cell?" Keres ordered before leaving.
