Chapter 10 - Tina

Hearing Clarissa's mention of Tina, Keres rushes to her bedroom. "Tina?" He shoved the doors open.

"Yes?" Tina puts her phone down. "What is it?"

Kere felt a sense of relief wash over him seeing Tina on her bed. "I told you not to leave your room." Keres takes a seat at the end of her bed.

"And I didn't," Tina answers.

"We both know that's a lie." Tina fell silent. Keres sighs before continuing. "Look, I know you don't completely trust me yet-"

"That's an understatement!" Tina exclaims. "First, you have me kidnapped and have my death faked. Then you tell me you're my father. And, to top it off, considering your murderous tendencies, I think a little distrust is warranted."

"Please, just listen to me-" Keres pleads.

Tina cuts him off. "If your next words aren't. 'You're free to leave.' Then just get out of my room."

"Whether you like it or not. I am your father."

"The only man, me and my siblings considered a father was a kind old man at the orphanage. And you aren't him." Tina glares.

"If you'd just let me explain-" Tina cuts Keres off again.

"JUST LEAVE!" Tina throws her phone at Keres, but he catches it.

"Fine," Keres puts the phone at the end of Tina's bed and exits the room. "Children," Keres sighs defeatedly. "Why is this so hard? What would you do, Arina?"

After Keres left the room, Tina grabbed her phone at the end of her bed; there was a new message:

We'll be ready tomorrow night. Make sure you get Clarissa out of there.

Back in Helgrey…

Walking into Dominic's room, I see him sitting at the edge of his bed with his headset on, his eyes glued to the screen, and his fingers moving at superhuman speed.

"Nate, I'm gonna go on mute for a sec." Dominic mutes himself before freeing up one of his ears. "What's up?" Dominic keeps his attention on the screen.

"I have something important to tell you."

"How important. Cause, right now, Nate and me are in the middle of a boss fight." Dominic starts manically pressing the buttons on his controller.

"Dominic!" I exclaim, annoyed.

"Geez, fine." Dominic unmutes himself. "Sorry, bro. We're gonna have to put a hold on beating the boss monster. You can blame Rhi." I walk over and punch him.

"Come on, Rhi, be cool. We're really close to beating it," Nate pleads thru the TV.

"Gimme the controller." Dominic hands over the controller. "Bye, Nate. See you at school." I log out of the game, using my one good arm.

"So, back to want I needed to tell you," I put the controller down. "Umm... there's no other way to put it. But, Lena's a werewolf." I just spat the words out.

"WHAT!?" Dominic exclaims.

"That was my reaction as well."

"Wait, so that's why Lena pulled you aside during lunch. I thought it was weird she asked you to come with her alone. You guys didn't even come back."

"She thought it'd be better if she just showed me," I tell Dominic.

"Damn it. I wanna see a werewolf transformation." Dominic felt utterly betrayed. With a sigh, he went back to asking questions. "Do any of our other friends know?"

"Nope. And Lena would like to keep it that way."

"Understandable. But how come you guys didn't just bring me along?" Dominic wanted to know the reason for Rhiannons betrayal.

"I think there may be two reasons for that? One, I'm closer to Lena than you are; you're more close to Nathan."

"Can't argue with that."

"And two, she had to remove like ninety percent of clothing."

"So the clothes don't just transform with her?" Dominic asked curiously.

"I'm not sure how that works if I'm gonna be honest?"

"Well shit, Rhi. I don't even know what to make of all of this."

"Yeah, it was a pretty big shock for me too." Dominic flops back onto his bed; I join him, and we both stare up at the ceiling.

"So, Lenas, a werewolf?" Dominic asks listlessly.

"Yep."

"Do you think any of our other friend's are like… you know? A werewolf, or a vampire, or any sort of supernatural creature?"

"I don't know. But things just keep getting weirder and weirder."

"I think complicated would be a better word."

"Agreed."

"But, there's one thing that's been bothering me. Lena was acting weird when I mentioned Ethereal children."

"What happened?"

"Well, she just tried to avoid the subject. And she made a sad look."

"Lena, being sad. That's a first."

"I know, right. She's usually all bubbly and full of life."

"Do you think we should talk about the Ethereal children thing with mum."

"Dinners ready!" We hear mum call from downstairs.

"Well, no time like the present," Dominic helps me up, and we both head down to the dinner table.

"So… mum. What exactly are Ethereal children?" I take a bit out of my food.

Mum paused before answering. "Well, they're children who are blessed by the gods with eternal life, in a way."

I stare at mum anxiously. "Then wouldn't that mean Ti-."

"No," mum stops me from finishing my sentence. "It's not that type of eternal life. It's eternal reincarnation." mum says sadly.

"Oh," I say disappointedly.

"I'm sorry I got your hopes up. But there is one more thing about being an Ethereal child. And I feel you have to know this. Whenever the three Ethereal children are born, it's a sign that the apocalypse is near."

"So are we the cause of the apocalypse or."

"You will be tasked with saving the world, not destroying it, Dominic." mum chuckles.

"I thought I'd be fun to be a dark overlord." Dominic jokes. We all laughed.

"Jokes aside. Are you guys alright. I know it's a lot to take in." Mum looks at us both.

"Well, I'm okay. I'm not sure If I'm ready to save the world or anything tho." Dominic says before eating his food.

"Same here." I go back to eating. And the day ended just like that.
