ALANNA
"Want to know a secret?" He asks and I smile. "Yes"
"I don't really sleep the way humans or witches do" he breathes and I frown. "Really?"
"It's different for demons. We lose consciousness but we're transported to a different world where our real fears come to torment us," he rasps and I squeeze my eyes shut, feeling heartbroken.
"Most times, when we get hurt in that world, we feel the pain when we wake up. Other times, we are forced to do things we don't want to do," he whispers.
"Do you remember the first time you lulled me to sleep?" He asks and I nod. "That was the first time I slept and dreamt of you. It was the first time I didn't get transported to a world of terror."
"Thank you, Alanna," he rasps.
