Chapter 4 - Lucas v.s. Rei

As he walked back to the group Coach Miller spoke again.

"Okay, the 2nd round is a game of handball 1vs1." Coach Miller said as he tapped the handball goal behind him which was 3 meters in length, and 2 meters in height.

"1 person will defend the goal, and the other will try to score on him. Both players will get one turn until one wins." Coach Miller said, smiling like a psychopath.

"Since there are 40 of you it will make perfect pairs meaning at the end of this test there will be 20 of you guys left." Coach Miller said as he stepped aside for the assistant coach to step up and call names.

"First pair up is Rei Kitsune vs Lucas Young." Once the assistant coach announced his name a commotion erupted throughout the group as both he and Lucas stepped forward, Lucas went towards the goal and Rei went to pick up a rubber baseball.

Once he looked up he saw Lucas, who was surprisingly the same guy as before.

"So you're the, oh so the great son of Ryuu kitsune let's see if you're as good as they advertise you to be," Lucas said as he started getting ready to defend.

Rei just ignored him since it was pointless wasting his voice and thoughts on him.

"What are the rules?" Rei asked as he looked at Coach Miller waiting for an answer.

"Rule 1: you cannot stop your motion, you can fake but once your hand passes your head you have to throw it. Rule 2: you cannot bounce or roll it." Coach Miller responded as he felt a cold aura coming off of Rei.

"Ready... Start." Coach Miller said out loud as Lucas stepped away from the goal and as close as he could get in front of Rei.

"Is he allowed to do this?" Rei asked curiously.

"It's not against the rules," Lucas replied as Coach Miller nodded in approval.

'I can just throw it over him and I'll make it but let's make a fool out of him.' Rei chuckled with a fox-like smile on his face.

The ball suddenly flew through the air, spinning in a perfect arc as it made its way toward Lucas, as he stood there, eyes wide and mouth agape, as the ball flew closer and closer.

Leaving him no time to react, no time to move out of the way.

- Thud~

The ball bounced off his forehead with a loud thud, sending him stumbling backward. The ball continued its journey, soaring through the air and landing in the hands of one of the players.

Everyone burst out laughing, even Coach Smith, the JV coach, cracked a smile. Lucas stood there, embarrassed and red-faced, as the laughter echoed around him. He could feel the heat radiating off his face, and he wished he could just disappear.

The laughter slowly died down, and Lucas slowly regained his composure.

Soon Lucas and Rei switched places this time Rei did the same thing Lucas did and stood as close as he could.

Lucas smiled as soon as he saw this thinking he'll do the same thing just taking it a bit further as he stepped inward starting his motion as Rei was in his way meaning he was about to hit him.

Looking at Lucas's hand coming straight toward his face, he just moved out of the way which was something Lucas wasn't expecting because he didn't throw the ball toward the goal instead he threw it toward the ground.

Once the ball hit the ground it bounced straight back up toward Lucas's face.

- Bam!

"Ah-son of a bitch." Lucas yelped out loud rubbing his nose as another round of laughter resounded out making him red again from embarrassment turning his nose even redder and making him look like Rudolf the reindeer.

They switched again this time Lucas tried to guard the goal standing in the middle with his arms out.

Though Lucas let Rei score on purpose for some reason.

'Apparently, he hasn't had enough yet.' Rei shook his head as they switched again.

This time he also went back to regular defending.

Lucas thought he saw an opening just under Rei's arm and tried to throw it as fast as he could, which wasn't really fast. Once he saw Lucas throw the ball he knew exactly where it was going and didn't even have to move to block it.

Rei just moved his hand as the ball came forward, and caught the ball with ease. So they switched places once more this time Lucas actually tried.

'Idiot it's already too late blame this on yourself you deserve it.' Rei's pitching motion was a thing of beauty. His left leg rose up as high as it could go, and his left arm stretched out in front of his chest, glove facing down, creating a wall in front of him. His throwing arm bent down at a 90-degree angle, completely hidden by his body, the ball facing downwards. His body then turned to the left, his lower body meeting the top of his leg, his body at a 45-degree angle. His left shoulder came towards him, and his right shoulder was slightly delayed, coming towards the 'plate' as if he was charging it.

His arm came slinging out of his elbow, the bottom of his elbow adjacent to the ground, his arm still hidden behind his elbow. His forearm and wrist were the last part to come out, like a slingshot or a catapult. Rei released the ball with his index finger and middle finger, barely feeling the ball on his fingertips as he flicked them forward until the very last second. The ball zipped right past Lucas's face without him even noticing until it already touched the net.

From Lucas's perspective, Rei started his motion by picking up his leg as high as he could, and he saw Rei's body turning to the left while his throwing arm still hid behind his body. As he planted his foot, his arm still hidden, his shoulder came forward like a lightning bolt. Rei's arm came down fast, and Lucas couldn't see the ball until the very last second before it shot out like lightning, as if the ball came out of thin air.

Lucas just stood there dazed, unable to keep track of the ball until it already touched the net.

He fell to his knees, defeated.

To everyone else watching, Rei's motion was a thing of beauty, a perfect combination of power and grace. His body moved in perfect harmony, each part working together to create a motion that was both powerful and precise. His arm moved like a slingshot, the ball zipping past Lucas's face before he even had a chance to react. It was a motion that was both awe-inspiring and intimidating.

Silence enveloped the field.

"Coach I think he just..." One of the assistant coaches mumbled in a low voice, but due to how silent it was everyone heard him.

"Around 93..." Coach Miller finished the assistant coach's sentence in a daze.

Multiple murmurs could be heard throughout the field.

"Winner Rei Kitsune." Coach Miller said as he came out of his daze with a smile on his face as he pointed in Rei's direction.

Rei felt a wave of warmth radiating from Coach Smith who was smiling at him with a profound look on his face.

Behind Coach Smith, Sun Yuxin was jumping up and down, her magnificent breasts slightly swaying with each movement. She gave him a silent clap that made him feel lightheaded as blood rushed down to his cock.

The sight of Sun Yuxin's breasts bouncing up and down was mesmerizing and was only for his eyes.

As they looked into each other's eyes, Rei felt a surge of energy course through his body. He felt a deep connection with her as if they were connected by an invisible thread. He felt a strong desire to reach out and touch her, to feel her soft skin against his own.

'Thank you.' Rei just smiled at her and mouthed silently as he walked to the back of the line while everyone was looking at him with envy and defeat except one person that seemed slightly unbothered, and another looking in awe like he was looking at Spider-Man.

While the matches went on one after another some neck-to-neck, while others were one-sided.

Though there were two people that caught Rei's eye. One who ended up being the same guy that looked unbothered before his name was Kaminari Akumu.

When Kaminari played defense he used one hand and caught the ball on time, neither too early nor too late meaning his reflexes are quite extraordinary. On offense, his throwing arm was like a whip, fast and straight.

'So he's also a pitcher, and a decent one too.' Rei thought as he saw Kaminari walk past him. Soon the matches were all done leaving 20 people left for the final test.

The second person was the one liking at him like a superhero, Starling Kaiyo.

On defense, he was quick and resorted to deflecting balls, and on offense, he threw like an infielder, with a quick motion.

"Everyone follow me." Coach Miller bellowed as soon as everyone finished and he exited the track and headed for the stairs that exit the track area of the school, towards the baseball area where he and Sun Yuxin were previously at before.

Rei was the last person in the group keeping a distance of a few feet away from them.

Soon he felt something enter his right hand that already felt so familiar, yet something he already yearned for.

As he turned to his right he saw Sun Yuxin again, still as stunning and gorgeous as ever, smiling at him, ear to ear with a slight blush on her delicate face.

"Hey," he said with a smile on his face as he squeezed her hand gently.

"Hey there, good job out there," Yuxin said, still holding his hand, her face a bright red.

"Thanks, I'm glad that you were watching," he replied as their hands started swaying back and forth. They both realized they were holding hands again but this time they didn't let go instead they changed their grip to where their fingers interlocked with each other as they continued walking together side by side.

(If anyone is wondering what Tsuki's pitching form looks like just search Sawamura Eijun from Ace Of Diamonds it's the exact same form as Sawamura's both wind-up and stride form.)
