The day for official recording of his composition, Saff with Taylor and the two producers are having their own conversations at the other side of the recording studio, not too far away from the managers and other production staffs.
Seating with Taylor and listening to the producers, Saff had also heard Manager Tim who spoke with the other managers about the young female artist who became their topic at that time. The manager mentioned how the young female artist seemed to have quite the habit of tardiness as she was late that day which had caused delay with the scheduled recording session.
Because of that, the manager couldn't help but tell the group about their experience when Manager Emy set an appointment to meet the young female artist and her manager for the first time, and they are also disappointingly late on the given call time at the hotel where the artist currently stays.
Hearing about this, Saff's mood instantly changed from being calm to being irritated. He didn't like how unprofessionally the female artist had behaved towards his Manager who waited at the restaurant for more than an hour.
For someone who is in the entertainment industry, it's not good to be tagged as unprofessional as it directly implies the artist's personality and manners when it comes to their nature of work, and even if you are someone who is on top of your popularity, you shouldn't use that as an advantage over the others just to make it as an excuse to cover up your unprofessionalism.
Saff despise those kinds of people, and most of all he doesn't like the thought that Emy had wasted her time and waited there like a fool just to get that collaboration.
Going back at that time, the reason that Saff turned to look from where Emy is seated is because he felt sad and worried for her as he wasn't able to be there and accompany her. Their eyes met and for a moment, he had realized how genuinely concern her manager is to be able to endure that kind of artist just to make the collaboration successful.
At present, Saff opened the passenger door for Emy to let her sit first before he went to sit on the driver's side and started the engine of his car. Without uttering any word from what had happened back in the restaurant, Saff just drives silently at a little faster than normal speed, his eyes fixed on the road.
Feeling something is off, Emy just stares at him for a second before she look straight onto the road, and though she wanted to ask why, Saff's expression tells her otherwise as he seems to be really pissed off right now.
Emy nibbled on her lower lip feeling anxious with the situation as she turns to look at the half-open window instead of talking about it. After a while, the car speed slows down and she heard Saff finally spoke "Are you alright?" he asked glancing at her.
"I should be the one asking you that…" Emy responded turning to look at him again, her voice worried.
"I'll be as long as you're here with me" Saff answered with a small smile on his face.
He then continues to say "Where will I drop you off? Can you still make it on time for your meeting?"
"Ah…Don't worry about it, I'm sure Manager Anne will understand, we'll be meeting at the restaurant just across the company building" Emy carefully said as to not speak more about it.
"Okay, let me take you there" Saff said and she nodded in approval.
The whole travel time was silent as Saff hadn't spoken again after their little conversation that made Emy felt a bit hesitant to ask, until they arrived at the restaurant which Emy had mentioned earlier, but before she could step out of the car, Saff raise his hand to hold her hand and says "Thank you".
Emy's brows slightly drew together thinking as to why Saff suddenly said those words to her, but seeing his expression became calm and his mood seems to lighten as well, she felt relieved and her lips curved into a smile.
"I love…your smile" Saff said his eyes scanning her lips going up to her eyes.
"For whatever the reason is, you are always welcome" Emy answered her voice gentle to his ears.
"Call me after your meeting, I'll come to pick you up whatever time it is" Saff stated for Emy to nod before she step out of his car and enter the restaurant.
Looking Back, Emy saw Saff's car drive away from the restaurant and then she heard someone called her from one of the tables, turning her head from the direction of the sound, Emy saw Manager Anne who is smiling while waving her hand.
"I'm so sorry for being late, Manager Anne" Emy said as she came to sit at the couch in front of the manager.
"It's alright dear! I just came here so there's nothing to worry. By the way, I saw Saff drove you here…how did it went with Chloe?" the woman curiously asked.
"I think it went…not so well?" Emy carefully answered but still trying to make an honest response.
"Oh! Okay…maybe not a good topic to talk about as well" and the corner of her mouth lifted before she continues to say "Anyway…let's talk about you! What brought us here, my dear?"
"I want to know everything…about Saff" without beating around the bush, Emy answered directly but it doesn't hide the fact that her heart beat starts to race in her chest as anxiousness and nervousness began to form in her mind and body.
"Ah…Let's order something to drink first, shall we?" and Manager Anne raises her hand and waved at the waiter to place their orders.
Once the waiter got it and leave their table, Manager Anne continue to speak "What do you want to know, Manager Emy?" her voice became low that the usual gentleness was now gone and replaced with a serious tone.
With so many questions that troubling her mind, Emy couldn't figure out where to start. Should she ask first about the mysterious story of the previous manager, or confirm if Manager Anne was the one who had talked to Ada before she got the job, or maybe perhaps about what Manager Anne had meant before when she said that 'it's like Saff had chosen her' because those words felt like something beyond words can explain.
"I-I'm sorry Manager Anne…I know that It may sound weird to you but does Saff and I have met before I ever got this job?" stuttering a little as Emy asked carefully so she won't look ridiculous.
Manager Anne took seconds before she answered "Why did you ask?" question after a question.
"I know it doesn't sound normal right now…but to be honest, I just have this feeling that Saff knew so much about me…and though it doesn't creeps me out, it still bothers me" Emy's brows drew together, she rubbed his hands together as her palms started to get wet and a sigh escaped her mouth.
"I knew you'll soon figure out…but I couldn't say anything to you until he advise me to and I guess this is what he meant 'the right time'…" hearing Manager Anne's words, Emy's brows drew closer as her eyes are carefully scanning the manager for an answer, and then Manager Anne continue to speak "With your question, yes…You had met him before, only you are too drunk to remember."
Emy's mouth fell open upon hearing the confirmation from Manager Anne, is she supposed to laugh at herself right now as it came to her like a ridiculous joke. How could she not remember a popular Idol, How dumb is she to not remember someone so hot and charming like Saffron Kale, when does this happened, she wanted more answers now, she wanted to know it all.
"How did that even happened, Manager Anne?" Emy continue to ask.
"Emy, it's at the bar you usually went to along with your best friends…one night we were having a business meeting and a celebration as well with the production staffs and the Idol members with one of the private rooms there when you accidentally met Saff. He said that you're staggeringly drunk and good thing he catches you before you fell onto the ground." Manager Anne's voice are now gentle as she explained to Emy who appeared to be really confused and overwhelmed by the information coming to her right now.
"That's where it all started when you said that it's like Saff had chosen me…you were the one who talked to my best friend Ada, are you? But why did you have to make up a story about his previous manager?" Emy continue to ask once again.
"That's right, I'm sorry about that story…It's me, it was my idea all along, not Saff because he just really wanted you to be close to him, he wanted to give you something that maybe could bring you back on your track…but I thought it would be weird if he just came right in front of you to offer a job, and so I had to make reasons because Saff was all worried that you might decline the offer" Manager Anne carefully explained for Emy to not get it in a wrong way.
"Alright…but I still don't get it, if we only had met once then why Saff was so eager to offer me a job and to bring me back on track? And how did he found out about my personal issues?" Emy asked as if it doesn't make sense, Saff is a famous artist and to get interested with her just like that is out of the ordinary for her.
"I know…It may seem hard to believe for you. Saff once asked Taylor and me for permission to go back at that bar, and then he asked again and followed by more until it alarmed us that we needed to look through on Saff's reasons, and when he told us the truth, we couldn't believe it as well. But don't get me wrong…It's just because every time he goes there in disguise, he just sit next to you like a secret bodyguard on standby, Saff said you make him want to protect you"
