I groaned hard at the light seeping through my window directly to my face. I covered my eyes with the back of my hand feeling the pain in my neck, I must have laid in the wrong position or It was the dream I had. it's been long since I had it; since I was a little girl. I placed a hand over my chest and quietly listen in on my elevated heart rate slowly calming down. I don't need to tell Mom about it since I haven't woke up panic struck; nothing significant happened. I haven't destroyed something all the more it would just make her worry about me or even decide to enroll me in a therapy session. I rolled over to my side, It was already six in the morning when I glanced at my digital alarm clock, how did I miss my 5:30?
I jumped out of my bed and rushed to the bathroom, I immediately stripped out of my PJ's and hit the shower. I skipped washing my hair because I had to dry it, comb through and style it. I was running against the clock don't judge me. I brushed my teeth fast, I almost forgot that and let my hair down. It was in light curls and away from my eyes.
Perfect!
Dressing was kind of my territory, who am I kidding? I usually get my clothes out for school before I go to bed. But after lunch last night and staying with Mom till after my bedtime, I slumped in bed immediately after the PJ's got on. I was staring at my full wardrobe nearly biting my nails off, I was starting to spin around them. I was growing smaller in the heap of them all.
Snap out of it Gia! you need to make it.
I let my hand dance on the hangers and closed my heart shut. I picked out a royal blue blouse with black slacks. I threw them on shutting out second thought. I threw my back pack on my shoulder, checked on my mom who was still fast asleep and rushed down stairs to the kitchen.
I had to make breakfast too,
I opened the fridge, I saw nothing but fruits and veggies with leftover pizza from last two nights. I didn't have time to make pancakes which was a bummer, I was in the mood. Those golden, fluffy, soft ,edgy cakes with syrup dripping off the edges or maybe even some berries and whipped cream or ice-cream as toppings.
Again focus you didn't have time for that but cereal I guess because it was already 6:31. I grabbed the carton of milk and shut the fridge. I went over to the cabinet and grab my lucky bowl ,spoon from the utensil drawer and the cereal box off the kitchen shelf. I prepared it fast and started on it while standing, I remembered my dad saying not to ever eat while standing. I sat in a stool tears welling in my eye as I eat swallowing down with it came a rose trying to clog my throat. I finished off and dump them in the sink, I will care to do them later. I went over the fridge and wrote on the sticky note
Don't burn down the kitchen sleep-cooking mom! Ask Mrs. Antonio when you need help ok
Love you
Mrs. Antonio lives next door and would happily help my mom if she needed any but she never asks. At the same state she was last night she nearly set the house on fire trying to cook, good thing Mrs. Antonio came at the right time. My mom was one of the best cooks but not at the state she was . I went to the front door about to leave when I felt the need to kiss my mom goodbye, I glanced down at my phone and it was already 6:36am. I ran back upstairs and entered her room, she was sleeping like a baby. I kissed her forehead and ran back out. I had to put my shoes on the porch. I sped walked to Christine's and knock on their front door. Her mom opened up almost immediately, it was like she was standing by the door. She greeted me with a warm smile as always
"Christine! Gia is here already, don't keep her waiting" she yelled for her, Christine wasn't the agile, early person and I would like to change that and that's why we go to school together. She stormed out from the living room trying to get her lunch in her backpack and putting on her shoes at the same time.
"Just getting my lunch" she said struggling with her flats, it looked a little bit tight on her. She walked out to the porch after her fight with her shoes and earned a kiss from her Mom.
"You guys have a great time at school" her mom called out waving and blowing kisses. We both waved back before going on the sidewalk.
"You're late" she said as we continued speed walking our way to the bus stop. She realized that I had to wait for a minute or two for her to Join me on their porch.
"Why not come by my house for a change" I said arching a brow.
"That doesn't make sense, it would be going the opposite direction to school. And losing more time.....do the math" she said smiling her usual treatment to get on my nerve early in the morning. I responded with an eye roll and we literally jogged our way to the bus stop to find it leaving. Good thing she was a good runner, she ran fast coming to view and the driver punched the breaks. She almost slammed into the back of the bus. It would have been funny but we were so running late. It was so nice of him to stop for us, we would have rode the subway or walk.
It was sure our lucky day!
