Chapter 54 - To The Airport (About to go)...15

Returning her phone to her purse, Cynthia with her head looking towards the skies as she was deep in thought, thinking of the person beside her, she brought her head down and then placed her hand on her best friend's shoulder from behind as she gently caressed her shoulder.

Jane had her chin on her clenched fist which was on her knee.

She was deep in thoughts...

Had she offended anybody?

Why was it so difficult for her to find love?

Why was she so unlucky?

Earlier today, she lost her job due to a simulated claim, placed on her by a customer and she hadn't told Cynthia about that one yet...

Jane sighed when she thought of the person beside her.

"What's wrong?" Cynthia asked.

Jane shook her head.

"Nothing." Her voice was almost in a whisper.

Cynthia looked on at her...

"You know you can tell me anything right?" Cynthia said.

Rubbing her face with her palms, Jane muttered;

"I just need some time alone...!"

Putting her hands down, she said;

"To figure out my life...you know?"

Cynthia was a bit hurt, for some reason, but still nodded.

"No matter what, I'm always here for you!" Cynthia said.

And then pulling out her phone, she seat through the web...

Sighing as she placed her head on her knee, Jane began thinking...

What would she have done or where would she have been if her best friend Cynthia wasn't in her life through all these difficulties?

She couldn't help but ask herself.

The truth was...

The job that Jane lost earlier today was given to her by Cynthia's Dad...

Not too long ago.

She had been so broke to the extent she was living in the streets and thank God made it possible that Cynthia had crossed the street where she was that day.

Cynthia had ear plugs in her ear when she accidentally bumped into her that fateful day.

She was grocery shopping and Jane was about to beg from her for food as she usually does when she discovered that it was her high school best friend.

Cynthia had been shocked herself that her grocery bags all fell to the floor as she stared at her long lost best friend.

With tears in her eyes, Cynthia grabbed a hold of her as she embraced her tightly, but warmly.

It was until, Cynthia embraced her, did she realize what had just happened.

Pulling away from Cynthia's breath-taking hug, Jane hugged herself into a corner as she kept her distance from Cynthia.

"What's up girl? What is wrong with you? I'm hugging you and you're pulling away...Is everything alright?" Cynthia asked visibly angry.

Jane knew the kind of temper that Cynthia had and she didn't pull away on purpose...

It was just...

"We haven't seen each other in like three year and I've been looking for you all over the city and we by coincidence, bump into each other and that's your way if sayin' 'hi'?" Cynthia asked again.

Jane just stood there with her arms around herself.

She suppressed the urge to laugh.

Running her eyes all over her friend's body and walking round her, Cynthia looked at Jane as she asked;

"What are you wearing?"

Jane would never forget that day...

She had been so embarrassed, she forgot the first rule of talking, is to first open your mouth.

When she explained her situation to Cynthia, she had been in tears.

Offering to get her a job, Jane had completely forgotten that her high school best friend's father, was the Owner...Founder...and CEO of the biggest fashion brand in the country and the third in the whole world;

A-GAME-Fashion brand...

It was the only fashion industry that had designed bullet proof clothes, shoes and also goggles...

They are also the only fashion industry that design all the race suits used by car racers in the entire world.

Their designs are so unique that Jane, being a fashion student, had always desired to work as a head designer there.

So knowing this, Cynthia volunteered to help get her a job at her Father's company and she was shocked at first and had actually rejected the offer...

But Cynthia and her adamancy, pulled out her phone and placed across a call to her Dad.

And although, Jane hadn't gotten the job of an 'actual' designer, at least the position she had been given had really a good pay that could settle her and her family for a whole year.

And although, Cynthia wasn't really pleased with the results, she did make a promise to Jane that she would make sure she got across to her Dad, no matter what.

Thinking about all these things, Jane raised her head an looked at Cynthia, who was behind her.

"Cynthia...?" She called.

"Hm?" Cynthia responded.

Pausing a bit, Jane took in a deep breath as she said;

"You've done so much for me for which, I am sincerely grateful for, and... I don't think, even in a million years, I would be able to repay you back...!"

"Really, girl?" Cynthia asked.

"I am your best friend...your bestie, and as your bestie, I should look after you and you should also look also look after me too..!" Cynthia said.

"So, I don't know why you're giving me this long speech...but...!"

"Go!" Jane gathered up the courage to say.

Cynthia paused for a while.

"What did you just say?" Cynthia asked.

Jane swallowed hard.

"I...I said. you should leave...!"

"Why?" Cynthia asked.

Looking away, Jane looked at her fingers as she said;

"You need to go!"

"Reason...!" Cynthia demanded.

Jane swallowed.

Cynthia was s making this difficult for her.

"Didn't Brandon say he had a surprise for you?" The words just flowed out of Jane's mouth like a sweet river as she stared straight into the eyes of Cynthia.

Chewing her mouth as she thought deeply back into the eyes of her best friend, Cynthia appeared to be thinking elsewhere.

Her intense stare caused Jane to feel uneasy as she stared away...

"Brandon's can wait...!" Cynthia suddenly said.

"We need to figure yours out first...!" She said.

"But Brandon...!"

"I said Brandon can wait!" Cynthia snapped Jane shut.

"Until we come up with a solution that had salvation in it, not just any kind of solution...I'm not leaving...even if my booty have to become flat, we gon' sit down here, until manner falls from heaven!"

Cynthia said sternly as she pulled out her phone from inside her purse and plugged in her ear plugs and tuned into 'Loved By You' by Justin Bieber ft Burna Boy, not caring whether the person beside he was watching her or not...

Looking at her best friend in amazement, Jane had not fully wrapped her mind around what Cynthia had just said, when...

"Besides, there are other days when Brandon can surprise me...is it going to be a wedding proposal?" Cynthia asked.

Cynthia chuckled.

"If it is gon' be, then I'd need a best lady...and you're the perfect girl for that role.

Jane chuckled lightly.

"You just said a 'best lady' and you referred to me as a girl...!" Jane said.

Cynthia didn't reply as she seemed to have dozed off as her head fell to the side.

Jane was kept hanging until she realized that her best friend had entered dream-land.

Turning her head away from her friend, Jane smiled as she looked up to the heavens with a sense of gratitude as she said;

"Thank You God!"

Her voice was soft as the breeze that blew seemed to have carried her words into the ears of the King of Heaven because at that instant someone tapped her on her shoulder as he called to her;

"Um, Miss...?"

When she had pushed her husband away from herself, someone from amongst the crowd laughed as he said;

"C'mon Mrs....your husband's tryna have fun with you!"

"Can't you just give him what he wants and let's get this over with?"

Saying that, the crowd let out a light laugh.

Though, it was something that adults and young couples ought to laugh about, but Mrs. Smith, not being in that state right now, slowly raised her head up as she glared at him...

Afterwards, she went back to dusting off something (that only God knows what...) off of her clothes...

They being expensive and all.

When Mrs. Smith had raised her head and glared at the man, she had laughed gently, and everyone thought that she was also laughing at the joke that the man said...

Not knowing that, he had come into the lioness's territory...

When she was done arranging herself, she slowly straightened up herself and liked at the man that had said that.

'Uh-oh...!' Mr. Smith thought.

He knew what this look from his wife meant, and he knew what she was capable of...

So before she could say anything, he stopped her...

As soon as Mrs. Smith was done arranging herself, Mrs. Smith slowly stood upright so as to feed her eyes on the person that had uttered that statement.

Once her eyes caught sight of the person, she gritted her teeth.

As she was about to spill out from her guts, Mr. Smith came from behind and held her hand sweetly and said;

"Dear, I think it's 'bout time, we go see the kids!"

Once she felt an arm wrap itself around her wrist, Mrs. Smith shot the person a deadly glare.

But when she discovered that it was her husband, her gaze softened as she unconsciously placed her hand on his face and gazed at it.

"Awwwwwww...this woman's husband came to take her away...!" The same man said.

Mrs. Smith's gentle gaze turned into a killer glare as she slipped her hand down from her husband's face and turned to face the man that had said that.

Her fists slowly clenched.

Though, her expression did not alter...

It did not change from a gentle one to a readable one...

Nor did it change to a glare or an angry stare...

She just studied...

Narrowing her eyes slightly at the man standing a bit far from her, she studied him pretty well.

He was a white man, average height...maybe of Caribbean descent...

Was well built and had a well chiseled and defined face as well as a charming smile that if one was not careful, they'd fall for it.

And as if ladies were already under his spell, because in each arm, a lady hooked their arms around him.

Behind him, one lady gently, but seductively massaged his shoulders.

He was

Had blonde hair and was obviously a trouble maker.

He was looking Mrs. Smith up and down in a desiring manner, Mrs Smith knew he was looking for trouble.

Standing her ground as she held her head high, Mrs. Smith narrowed her eyes at him, looking at him straight in the eyeballs.

She seemed to know the man, but she couldn't quite get the click...

But as the man was about to utter something, Mrs. Smith turned her head away as she asked;.

"Babe, can we go, now...?"

Mr. Smith had also been studying the man keenly and was so engrossed in his thoughts concerning this man, that when his wife called to him the first time, he didn't hear her...

"Babe...!" Mrs. Smith called as she tugged at her husband's suit as she tried to gain his attention.

When Mrs. Smith called to him again, he seemed to have gotten back to his senses as he slightly shook his head and turned to his wife with a slight;

"Hm?"

Smiling gently at her husband as she held his face with her hand, she turned to look at the man who was trying to cause trouble as she said;

"Let's go meet the kids...!"

Turning back to look at her husband with a gentle smile, she said;

"I don't want to miss this last time with Temi...!"

And with that, they both turned and left the man standing there.

The man smirked, before it slowly turned to a sneer as he watched them go.

She had forgotten about him...
