As soon as her Mother left the room, Temi quickly packed and arranged her things in a neat order and then hurried out of her room to the dinning hall.
The area where she sat to eat was not a room, it was a hall, a very spacious hall that could seat about four to ten people. And since they were seven in the family, they used this hall.
But there was another one. This one was for the guests or extended family members that came to visit.
It was larger than the first one and one had to pass through this room to get the one for the family.
And as Temi walked pass it, she smiled as she remembered the memories that they all had when their uncles and aunts came with their children (Temi's cousins), her grandparents and many other people came to celebrate the special holidays with them.
They had never gone more than thrice to celebrate the special holidays with their extended ones and Temi, while growing up had never liked this.
She has always had the desire to go spend the holidays with them all, but for some reason, her parents did not adhere to it. And she always got so angry and would sulk whenever it was the holiday time. Her friends would usually come back the next year full of interesting an adventurous stories to tell, while she had none.
Though, deep down, she still wanted to spend the special holidays with at least one of her uncles and aunties, she know understood why her parents never wanted her to spend the holidays with the extended ones, because, other than your parents in this world, no one else is going to love you as much as they do.
As she walked passed the dinning hall, she analyzed the area...
The room was big enough to contain three ling dinning tables with various measurements of;
4'6"×"10"
137cm×305cm For the adults i.e the parents, with ten seats round the table, four seats on each side, an extra two (2) seating opposite to each other.
For the teens the measurements were;
3'6×8'
107×244cm
With three (3) chairs on each side and two (2) seating opposite to each other making a total of eight (8).
For the little ones, there were various different measurements...
3'×6'
91×186cm for the adolescents.
For the kids;
2'6×5
76×152cm.
2'6×3'6
76×107cm for the infants.
The room was so arranged and organized.
The room was painted Ivory, had few pictures of flowers, different varieties and species.
Some had dandelions, others had Chrysanthemumsm, while some had daisies and so on.
It was beautiful, she couldn't take her eyes off them. But then again, she had to fill her stomach first.
So heading towards the family dinning room, she saw the buffet of food, it was a simple food that her Mother had specially prepared for her.
"Made them myself...!" She heard a voice that sounded close.
When she raised her head up, she discovered that it was her Mother that was approaching with a smile on her face as her white gown flowed like the sea behind her.
The dress was so good on her, if not for her skin that was glowing yellow, she would have blended so well with the the background all around her.
Temi would have had to readjust her eyesight to be able to capture the figure of her Mother approaching, but since she was black skinned, she could clearly see her Mother's figure, she had to look down at herself and then looked back up as her Mother laughed and sat down opposite her.
"Why are you laughing? What's so funny?" Temi laughed a little as she laughed.
Her Mother settled down on the chair.
"You looked stunned at first, why's that?" Her Mother asked.
Shaking her head slightly as she rested her chin on her hand, she said;
"Well, um, my Mum is wearing 'the' most expensive Versace Ivory Colored gown ever, and alongside her color...?" Temi asked as she made a face and then shook her head slowly.
Her Mother smiled.
"Alongside her color...?" She repeated again before shaking it again.
"God, we are all created in God's image, and I bet...I bet, that if you decide to appear on the run-way, or compete for Miss Universe, or Miss World...!" Snapping her fingers, Temi said;
"My Momma's gon' win!"
And with that, her Mother burst out laughing because of the face her daughter made.
"I'm telling you, you gon' win, it's final! The only thing you need to do is something explicitly simple...!" Temi said.
"Okay, and what's that?" Temi's Mother asked as she leaned forward.
Temi also leaned forward and said in a low voice;
"Let me know when you're gonna start, so that I'll gather my friends first and...!"
"Oh no no no no no no no no no...!" Her Mother said as she leaned back with a smile on her face.
"Why not?" Temi asked as she leaned back and liked at her Mother with a pretty confused look.
Her Mother shook her head in a negation.
"No...!" Her Mother said.
Temi vigorously shook her head in a negation as she said;
"Why not, Mum?" She first asked.
"It's gonna be so lit and then all those...how do they say it in the Nigerian pidgin language, um...!" Temi slightly furrowed her brows as she looked down and thought.
Temi's Mother only looked at her with a smile in her face as she watched her daughter think.
It wasn't a difficult thing for Temi to remember stuffs, especially when it came to her background, she was always on point.
Plus, she always remembered things, even of they were tiny details.
So as her Mother continued watching her think, she pulled out her phone to check some things.
"Yes!" Temi exclaimed.
Her Mother looked up at her daughter as she slowly put down her phone onto the table and gently clasped her hands together as she smiled and waited for her daughter to speak.
"E go blow!" Temi exclaimed as she pointed at her Mother.
Her Mother laughed.
"That's right, e go blow, you gon' blow...!"
"It's gonna be so huge, those younger ladies would have to learn from the 'Boss', the 'Pro', ya understand, Mama?" Temi asked.
Her Mother only had a smile on her face as she looked at her daughter.
"It's gonna be so...it's gonna take this younger ladies by storm, as in, they're gonna be all like; 'What? This woman's still got that swag, Oh My God...!' they're gonna all gasp...!" And then Temi covered her opened mouth as she gasped.
This act had Temi's Mother to burst out laughing as Temi continued.
"It'll shock them, like they're gonna be so shooked and then, you know what Momma?" Temi asked her Mother as she leaned forward.
With her chin resting on the back of her palm, Temi's Mother asked;
"What?"
Temi nodded her head as she rested her back on the chair.
"They're gonna leave the stage for you, just you, you alone...!"
Temi's Mother bursted out laughing.
Shaking her head, Temi's Mother said;
"Oh Temi, that's not how it works!"
Pouting, Temi asked;
"Who said so?"
Shaking her head as she laughed, Temi's Mother said;
"That's not how it works, if the stage is being cleared for me, who else would display the clothes that are to be advertised...?"
"Besides, there are lots of shapes and sizes, I wouldn't fit into all of them, just my type...!"
But Temi didn't let her Mother complete her statement before cutting in as she waved it off.
"Don't worry, God's gonna handle that one!"
"But for you, Momma...?" Temi said as she pointed at her Mother.
Temi's Mother continued to look at her daughter.
Shaking her head as she looked the other way, Temi said;
"God alone knows what he sculpted and created, 'we' humans won't understand what God has created... you know?" Temi said, only to find her Mother looking at her with a smile on her face.
"I'm so proud of you!" Temi's Mother said after sometime with tears in her eyes.
Temi just gently smiled as her eyes focused on her food, it was a huge buffet, and for only her.
As she looked down at the food, Temi's Mother said;
"Don't worry, the food's not just for only you!"
Temi breathed a huge sigh of relief as she said;
"Phew, Thank You Jesus, I've already started thinking how I'm gonna finish this buffet!" She confessed.
Temi's Mother chuckled as she got up from the chair and headed upstairs as she instructed;
"You can start with the soup while I go get your father and the boys!"
And with that, she gently pinched her dress and then raised it up slightly as she headed upstairs.
"Boys...!"
Temi could hear her Mother call her brothers.
Chuckling as she took out her phone to go through the news, she became bored and then headed over to Instagram to check up the latest updates.
But something shocking welcomed her eyes...
As she logged into Instagram, she saw a familiar face...
Her best-friend, Olivia was at the house of another friend of Temi's and it was...
It was Ethan!
'Ethan's house?'
Temi asked herself as she thought, slightly frowning in the process.
Scrolling down, she saw another picture that caught her attention.
Her friend Olivia was sitting on Ethan's laps as she kissed him on the cheek, catching the intimate moment with her phone camera.
Well, Temi 'liked' the picture and continued scrolling down as she had seen them do that countless times too, so she felt it was something normal.
But the next picture that she saw had her expression change drastically from a slight frown to a deep frown as the two were kissing in front of toy store.
"What the hell...?" She mumbled to herself as she frowned a little and took a sip of her juice and placed back onto the table.
