Chapter 2 - Mum and Daughter Time 1...

"...Gorgeous make 'em drop dead, you a killer...shower you with all my attention, yeah these are my only intentions...!"

"Picture perfect you don't no filter, gorgeous make 'em drop dead, you a killer...shower you with all my attention, yeah these are my only intentions...!"

"Stay in the kitchen, cooking up, got your bread, heart, full of equity you're an asset, make sure that you don't need no mentions, yeah, these are my only intentions...!"

"...You're my rock, my colorado, get that ring, just like Toronto, love you now, a little more tomorrow, that's why you know, you act like you that you are...!"

A lady with ample black hair sang as she sat on her bed with her ear pods plugged in as she packed some of her things into a travel bag.

She had a beautiful and soothing tenor voice that could align with the atmosphere and make the heavenly bodies rejoice.

She wore a white singlet, on top of which she wore a light longline jersey jacket with blue denim jeans.

Her hair, golden brown, was curly and had quite the definition, was left in an afro manner as it was a natural as she sat In the bed and arranged her things...

Her iPhone was lying beside her on the bed as she was so immersed in packing her things.

She was so excited about the trip she was about to make...

As she moved gently to the rhythm of the music, she felt a hand on her shoulder.

Turning her head swiftly, she removed her ear pods.

But she saw an older woman, suitable to be her Mother watching her.

"Oh, hey Mum, when'd you get here?" The lady asked as she turned back to what she was doing.

"Am I not allowed to come into my own daughter's room again?"

The older woman asked as she slowly withdrew her hand from atop her daughter's shoulder.

Slightly annoyed with the question, in reply, the lady said;

"That's not what I meant Mum...!"

Her mother laughed when she saw that her daughter was already annoyed.

"I know, dear...!" The older woman replied.

"You should understand what I mean..!" The younger lady said as she plugged her ear pods back in.

Placing her hand back on her daughter's shoulder as she shook her, the older woman replied as she laughed;

"I know dear, I'm just trying to annoy you!"

"Well, don't, I don't appreciate it...!"

The younger lady murmured as she continued to pack her things, completely unaware of the older woman who had now moved to sot down on the bed beside her.

"What'd you say?" The older woman asked.

"Nothing!" The younger lady replied, not looking up from what she was doing.

The older woman was silent as she studied her daughter.

Then after some time, she sighed as she placed her hand on the lady's head and began to caress her hair.

"Look at you, all grown up...!" The older woman said as she looked at the girl in front of her.

The younger woman didn't stop what she was doing as she kept on with her work, only slower this time.

The older woman caressed the younger woman's hair in silence as she was deep in thoughts.

The younger lady on the other hand was still busy with her things as she almost forgot that her mother was still in the room.

But as she kept on arranging her things, she could feel as if something was poking at her hair as it felt tingly.

She was about to take her hand up to catch whatever it was that was making her head tingly, but she reached her hand out for her hair, she stopped immediately.

Slowly lowering her hand down, she went back to what she was doing, pretending as if she hadn't done anything

Her Mother chuckled softly as she took her time in taking her hand from off of her daughter's head.

"Why did you lower your hand down?" The older woman asked as she looked at her daughter.

Turning her head slightly to look behind her, the younger lady pretended as if she didn't know that her mother had been there.

"Oh, Mum...!" She murmured.

"Why are you still here?" She asked expressionlessly.

"Why are you acting as if you didn't know I've been here all along?" Her Mother fired back, her voice solemn.

Turning her head to look behind slightly at her mother, who shot at her a grim look, the younger lady looked back as she turned all her attention onto her things as she murmured;

"I do not know what you're talking 'bout!"

The older woman was quiet

The younger lady thought she had offended her Mother, so she only slowly closed her eyes as she began to pray silently.

"Oh God, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please...!" She prayed.

"With a cherry on top!"

She added hastily as she slowly opened her eyes and turned to look at her mother behind her.

As she turned, she was surprised to find her Mother still looking at her, with a pretty stern expression on her face.

Seeing that her mother was still looking at her, gave her the creeps, therefore, she screamed.

"AHHHH!!!"

"What's wrong?" Her Mother asked, panicked.

"Why are you still here and giving me that look?" The young lady asked.

Frowning, the older woman asked;

"What do you mean by that?"

'Uh, oh, I've stepped on the lion's tail...!' The younger lady thought as she looked at her mother, with little fear in her eyes.

Seeing that her daughter was silent, she studied her for a while as she narrowed her eyes at her.

After some time, the older woman burst out into laughter.

"Hahahaha!"

The younger lady frowned slightly.

After about five (5) seconds, the younger lady asked;

"Momma, why are you laughing?"

"I still got the motherhood!" The older woman exclaimed as she laughed.

Frowning her face as she chuckled a bit, the younger lady asked;

"W...W...What do you mean?"

"What Motherhood?" She asked again.

After laughing for some time, the older woman asked;

"You remember that one time when you wanted to go to a friend's party and when I asked you who the celebrant was, you said it was...!"

"Mum, please, don't!" The young lady cut in as she closed her eyes and used her hands to gently rub her temples.

"You said it was a boy and then you remembered what happened next, right?"

Shaking her head, the young lady jumped off the bed.

"Mum, the look you gave me that day, was enough to send me into my shell, like 'Gary' the snail from 'SpongeBob'!" The young lady said as she remembered vividly.

It was a bright Monday afternoon and a little girl had just bid farewell to her fellow school-mates and friends and then turned to head into her home.

When she pressed the doorbell, she entered the house and headed straight for the kitchen, because she knew that was where her mother would be.

"Good afternoon, Mummy!" The girl greeted cheerfully.

"Welcome Temi, how was school today?" The little girl's mother asked with a smile on her face a she was happy.

Nodding, the little girl replied;

"It was great Mummy...!"

Nodding, the little girl's mother turned back to what she was doing; cutting some vegetables for dinner.

But when she had turned her attention back to the veggies, she had expected the little girl to head on to her room to change, but for some reason, the girl still stood there.

Noticing that her daughter's presence is still in the kitchen, the woman raised her head and was not so surprised to see her daughter still standing there. Though, she raised her eyebrows.

Raising an eyebrow, the woman asked;

"Anything else, Temi?"

Gripping the end of her dress as she cleaned her palms to get rid of the sweat on them, little Temi brought them back up as she made her fingertips touch each other and then brought them back to the end of her dress to wipe off the sweat, due to nervousness.

The mother of the girl lowered her head back down and turned her attention to her work as she waited for her daughter's response.

When the older woman had waited for some seconds without getting a response from her, the mother of the girl asked without putting up her head to look up at her daughter;

"Is there anything else?"

Then slowly raising her head to look at her daughter, the older woman raised an eyebrow at her.

Seeing that her Mother had sensed something was off, she knew that she could not hide it within her anymore...

So, slowly taking in a deep breath as she closed her eyes, she opened them to say;

"Mum there's something that I need to tell you!"

Her mother looked at her as she stopped cutting the vegetables on the pantry with her eyes narrowed as they opened and closed slowly.

Temi, on the other hand, could feel her heart stop momentarily as she stared wide-eyed at her Mother, with her breath, ceased...

After about five (5) seconds, Temi's Mother burst into laughter, catching little Temi off-guard as she snapped her eyes to look at her Mother...
