Chereads / Dainsleif: Grand order / Chapter 20 - Getting ready for the mission

Chapter 20 - Getting ready for the mission

As soon as Jason got his call, he directly put new clothes on, put his suit on his back and headed for the rooftop. On the road, he met Alexa who her as well as heading for the meeting location.

"Don't you have a car or something?" he asked suspiciously.

"I prefer walking, it gives me the chance to see more about the school!" she exclaimed looking at the various shops in the sector.

Jason felt suspicious about Alexa because he didn't know if he should be cautious about her too. His problem was that he didn't want to work with a teammate he doesn't trust.

'Damn you Tornado,' he thought, 'You couldn't just keep your mouth shut huh?'

Once they got to the school, Mitsuki was already at the entrance. The three of them walked up the stairs and entered the rooftop where Moondust was located.

"Well then, you didn't think it would be that simple did ya? First missions start immediately, those are the school's rules. Now, if you don't mind, look at the side of your watch, you see a red button right? Click on it."

When they clicked on the red button on the side of their watch, they were teleported to a high tech area. The panel right on top of the place was written "Mission Hall".

"This is the mission hall," Alexa said silently.

"Indeed, this is where we are going to claim the mission given to us. Wait for me here," Moondust answered.

Moondust walked in, and there were various sections such as the escort section, the rescue section etc.

Moondust went to the escort section where she collected her mission from a woman in her thirties called Marie Limb.

"Hey Marie, got anything for me today?"

"I do, the admin gave me a mission for you, you must escort a member of the statesmen to their local base."

Moondust looked astonished as she cried: "A statesman, why would they assign this kind of mission to beginners?"

"Don't ask me, the admin told me to do it. Now, you are going to be the statesman at the city's main gate. Due to transportation problems these days, you will have to take a normal boat."

Despite what Marie said, Moondust couldn't help but show a confused expression as to why they give such a dangerous mission to beginners. Statesmen are powerful, they are powerful enough to shut down a whole company just by saying a few words.

For bandits, it would be a great occasion to capture the statesman and ask for a ransom against his freedom. When Moondust went outside, she held the paper in the air showing it well and clearly to the team.

"Well then, we have an escort mission. The escort, in this case, will be statesman John Luke. " Moondust said trying to hide her discontent.

"A statesman... isn't that a bit dangerous given their rank in society?" Mitsuki asked.

"Don't worry, there will just be a few bandits, nothing less..." she couldn't believe her own words, it's not every day a statesman travels by boat and not only bandits but even rebels know it.

"Alright, gather your things, and we meet in an hour in front of the city's main gate." Moon wanted to meet the statesman alone first before meeting.

Jason who already brought his suit and packed a few things like haribos and everything was already ready to go, on the other hand, the others still had to pack.

Moondust decided to take Jason with her to the city's main gate where they would meet the statesman. Jason didn't understand much apart from one thing, the richer you are, the more your dangers are.

Moondust and Jason flew on a dust cloud which brought them to the location in less than 10 minutes. The statesman was with his numerous bodyguards and he seemed to be impatient.

Once he saw Moondust and Jason, he let out a big sigh of relief and said: "I've been waiting for the past minutes, finally you've made it."

"Good afternoon statesman John Luke, we are going to be your escorts followed by two others. It's a pleasure to work with you."

"Two others, so I have to wait again?" He seemed quite in a rush for some weird reason.

Jason couldn't understand the reason because in both cases, they will always leave today.

"From what I know, statesmen don't have any meeting until next week, so why do you seem in a rush?" Jason asked suspiciously.

Statesman John was hesitating to speak until he saw two other students and tried to change the subject by asking if they were the two other escorts.

" Oh look behind, are those the two other people you were talking about?" he asked in sweat.

Moondust looked behind her and saw Alexa and Mitsuki already in their suit. She looked at Jason and said: "Go put your suit on Jason what are you waiting for!"

"You can change in my car," John Luke said with a smile.

Jason went to change, and once he was done, they were all ready for the trip.

"So how do we get a boat?" Mitsuki asked.

"Click on the blue button of your watch, it is the teleporter to the school's port. Moondust said.

As soon as they clicked on the blue button, they were directly teleported to a shipping port where there were a lot of students taking boats.

" We are going to take a boat, once it's done, it will take 4 hours to get to the location if we take the fastest one, nothing hard..." Moondust said.

Moondust told Jason and his team to wait with the statesman and his bodyguards. She went to get the fastest boat possible, although she is a rank A ranger, she won't stand a chance against a legion of rebels or demons.

"Tell me, sir, I would want to know the real reason you were in a rush at the gate entrance." Jason insisted.

John was put under pressure, and this time no one could help him. A few seconds of tension passed and then he finally confessed: "Don't be mad at what I'm gonna say, but the real reason is that my daughter is sick, and I want to see her as soon as possible."

"You're daughter?" Jason asked still suspicious.

"Yes, it's been two weeks she's sick." he mumbled, "and because of my job, I never have time to see her or do anything with her, so if she dies, I will never forgive myself to have not been there."

Alexa and Mitsuki were touched by the statesman honesty, someone who is supposed to show no emotion nearly had tears in his eyes for his daughter.

Jason however didn't believe a single word of what he said but decided to keep it for himself to not start a whole argument for nothing. All he knew was that he had a mission, and as long as his secret didn't affect it, he doesn't care.

Moondust came back to them disappointed and said: "Unfortunately guys, they only have superior boats, so that means it will take us about a day to get to the destination..."

John Luke felt his heart coming out of his body after the announcement.

"I-I have to make a call," he said going as far away from the group as possible.

About 10 minutes passed and he was still on the phone which started to irritate Moondust a lot.

"Mister Luke, we are running against time, could you please be quick?!" she said pointing her watch to show her impatience.

He hung up and ran towards them. They all took a boat which was big enough to have a room for at least 5. Once they got on it, they set sail for the destination point.
